You really actually set the braking system up to have the front wheels brake first and harder than the rear brakes???? THAT IS SO DANGEROUS GREG!!! Rear brakes should actuate before front brakes. You don't want to ever lose your steering cause the fronts locked up before the rear tires did.
@@Ohiocountryboy-se2cn ok here's a scenario....traveling down hill on a rural-type gravel road. We call these "switchbacks" where I'm from. Your speed naturally increases so you apply your brakes. If your front brakes grab first and lock up you absolutely loose control of the vehicle. I understand that 70 percent of your stopping power comes from the front brakes. But that's with the rear brakes starting the pressure first. I'm not a mechanic. But twice now I've had front brakes lock up before my rears did (once on gravel and once on ice) and both times I lost the ability to steer. Lesson learned! I was coming down an icy highway hill one winter evening. Car started to spin sideways on the black ice but instead of applying the brakes (for fear of loosing all steering capabilities) I tucked my feet up near my seat and was able to steer the car back straight.
We just subscribed. My boy and I just found a 150 Zircon on craigslist. We're set to pick it up tomorrow. Thanks Redbeard! My boy thinks you're awesome! I'm just happy to have the instructional as I am pretty much a novice. Its helpful to have th links for parts ordering too. Even just figuring out that these engines are GY6 was a huge help to me.

Have it looks like what you are working on. It has been setting for I don’ t know how long. I did get it running after a while. I rode it about 25 yards and it quit running no fire have replaced coil and the thing behind fly wheel. If you could many tell me what I should do. I would really appreciate it. The motor is a 1P57QMJ. It was mfg in 2012.
Hey, maybe do a little show and tell on your Bauer band saw table, Did y'all build it? I see they sell them for Milwaukee, but I have the Bauer and want to have a table like yours. I started fabbing up brackets, but the mounting points are kind of limited. Thanks!
How small diameter of wheels can this kit fit into and how deep are the hubs? I'm thinking about trying this on a Yamaha G9 golf cart with the stock 8" wheels.
I have this same brake kit it's currently held on with smaller diameter bolts than it should cause the caliper has 2 threaded holes I can tell its metric threads do you know what thread pitch the bolts are for that so I dont need to buy a bunch to figure it out... thnx
The powder coat shop in my town will powder coat over previously powder coated surfaces without sandblasting. Just picked up some recoated wheels last week.
Hi iam a new subscriber and your videos helped me a lot thank you. I have a question hoping u guys can help me out I also have a zircon go kart I need a new rear brake caliper do u guys know which brake caliper is compatible or where I can get a new one any help suggestions or links would be appreciated ty and keep up the awesome videos.
@Red beard you can powder coat over powder coat they have this new system called wet powder coat, it is a liquid (I think its alcohol my self ) that you mix with your powder coat color and you spray it just like regular paint on top of the old powder coat and when the liquid evaporates out of it you have a new patch if powder coat that you can wipe off where you don't want it then you just put it in the oven or you can use one of the heat guns that do two thousand degree heat guns. If it's a small area melt the powder coat for small patch job like what you need!!
Hey Redbeard! I have a go kart that i blew up the predator on, and i was wondering if a tillotson 212 (not the 212r) would be similar in power to a stage 1 predator
Hey man, love the videos! Question though, If the front wheel hubs are 4x110mm, then are your rear axle hubs also 4x110? I have had the hardest time finding 4x110 rear live axle hubs
I found on my karts with the same master cylinder the adjustments are about even. The rear brake and both front brakes have about the same volume so they grab pretty even. It's lowered the wear on the pads and now they last about the same time front to rear.
Don't rock the juke box... i wanta here George Jones...My heart aint ready for the Rollin Stones. Much love, peace out and God bless. Tell Lonnie to shave. He's to pretty and young for that crap on his face.
Ive been thinking of going disc brake instead of the band brake..this video gives me a idea of what all is needed. Thanks RBG..
