I love your rant about not having to be good at something to critique them and separating critiques from hate. I think you both are taking a bit overboard. It happens to almost everyone in the music industry and it will never stop. Yeah it sucks but there is no way to prevent it and has happened for the past 20 years to almost every artist on the market since.
And I find it weird that people have these strange attachments to their favorites like so. Something that doesn’t even have to do with you is effecting you which is strange lol.
Those die hard ‘fans’ on twitter have no life, no hobby’s and maybe even no friends. I feel so sorry that Ariana has to deal with those people, I’m not one of them and don’t claim that side of the fanbase.
I’m an Ariana Grande fan and definitely agree. I wouldn’t call myself a die hard fan but those ppl leaking music is very cruel especially after all the stuff she’s been through and is currently going through. @@naomi.cannibal unfortunately that's true. Well, i appreciate always other people's opinions, even when they are different of my own. We can learn a lot listening to other opinions.
GWORL, I felt literally EVERYTHING you said about Sweetener ! It’s SUCH A GOOD ALBUMMM !! And “The Light Is Coming” is actually a bop but CLEARLY that’s clearly a conversation for another day 🙄😭
Unpopular opinion: super light brown eyes like yours and the reporter from White Chicks are prettier than blue or green eyes. I’m sooo jealous of your eye color. Stunner
I think that Ariana’s TALENT is under appreciated. I feel as though she is overlooked when it comes to the amount of talent she holds and people focus so much on her appearance.
I don’t think she’s under appreciated I think it’s more of her sound has been largely the same for a long period of time so people have gotten used to it, she like in the same class as artists like Ed Sheeran who make music you’d expect
I think it is because of the type of songs she sings. It distracts from her voice, so to speak. Same with Selena Gomez. When she sings the same type of songs all of the time, it makes me lose what I liked about her previous work.
I don't think her talent is under appreciated - shes not a songwriter (Jordin Sparks wrote songs intended to be released herself, but Arianas management team took these for her) She's a good vocalist, but as an all rounder artist, I don't think the musician talent is there
I think touring only really works when you love what you do enough to be able to consistently travel for half a year performing your music on repeat. Like you have to REALLY love what you do for it to be worth it.
22:41 I love how you went in on this. Kpop stans would come up with excuses from pure delusion just to defend their idol. Also don't forget the " he/she is sick"
I absolutely LOVE going to concerts by myself. I'm not on anyone else's timeline. I can splurge or be frugal depending on the artist and venue without worrying about what other people want to do. I'm giving the performance my full attention. And I *know* nobody cares that I'm there by myself, which allows me to just groove how I want. Highly recommend it. I recently went to a show with a friend for the first time in about 6 years and I felt... trapped. Obligated to engage, compromise on where we sit/stand, and have to announce or listen to an announcement every time one of us had to use the restroom or grab a drink. Ugh.
the light is coming is a bop. People just hate fun. Also, about the romance in shows point. It only happens to straight couples. It's like they won't let a man and a woman be close friends.
I remember going to a concert alone at age 14! I go alone all the time bc not all my friends share the same tastes and if an artist or band that i love comes to town, im not gonna miss the opportunity just because i couldn't find someone to come! Plus moving around in a crowd is so much easier as one person and you can move/leave whenever you want, which is especially great if u go to a standing room show! I most recently went to see taylor swift alone and getting a ticket was still hard lol but it was wayyyyy easier than trying to get 2+ tix. Its awesome i recommend it to everyone :)
@@naomi.cannibalI heard it was something about her almost becoming bankrupt so she had to help fund her own videos and other things. But I’m still not sure either
I think it worked though, she has so many memorable songs, she always had a bop out for like 10 years straight and somehow we didn't get sick of her. I think it was just too much for her personally, like the 7 tour was insane. I'm glad she's having a long break.
i highly recommend going to concerts by yourself, its not gonna be for everybody but i've done it multiple times now and i find it very chill and relaxed your're on your own schedule and i would definitely suggest you try it out
To add on to what you said about Ariana being under appreciated; I feel like a lot of people still see her as kid-ish (even though her latest releases have been more mature). Like when I ask anyone over the age of 25 if they listen to her they’re always like “no??”
I agree I’ve been to all her world tours and I’m always the oldest there other than the parents of the kids fans for the most part. When she did The Honeymoon Tour I was 20 in college and I hardly saw high schoolers 😂!
totally agree that you don't need to be a professional singer/dancer to criticize. it's the laziest fallback and stan twitter knows that! they only whip it out when they can't argue with a criticism, but for some reason they feel like if they don't defend their fav's honor when someone disagrees with them, they aren't a real fan. i like so many artists i know people don't like! them not liking those artists doesn't make me like them less
When it comes to romantic plot lines in TV, I like it when it’s a side storyline that builds over time. I don’t like it when it’s the main storyline though
Naomi I got you with the “You can like an artist and not like their music” opinion because I’m the biggest example of it. Solo concert dates are the move You don't have to wait for your friend that procrastinating to buy their ticket (holding you up when you're ready to buy) And u don't have to worry about being late or anything
On the point of stanning an artist without liking their music: back when i really stanned normani at around 2019-2021 i dont think i ever really streamed or listened to her music on its own, what drew me to her was more so her perfomances and mvs, for me the songs were more like an accompaniment than the main course, so thats my experience with that
I agree. The music was completely carried by the visuals, choreos and the 1-2 live performances she did to promote them at the Vmas each time. But the replay value and eager to go back and revisit those songs on their own was difficult. Motivation was kind pf generic early 2000s bubblegum pop and Wildside as a song could've been done by Summer Walker or Jhené Aiko. I wasn't blew away by any of those songs. I'm gonna go listen to it 10 years from now
As far as "you can stan an artist without liking their music" goes, I don't know about Stan, but Fan. I will agree with this. I absolutely ADORE Pink. I think she is such an amazing person. I love watching her interviews, seeing how she interacts with people. I honestly looove her. But when it comes to listening to her music, it never quite does what I want it to. There's a song here or there that I like. But overall, I'm not really a fan of her music. But my UA-cam, TikTok, and Insta are covered with videos of her because I love seeing her being an amazing person.
I want to get into P!nk so bad and honestly can’t. I love the other girls (Christina,Britney, etc) but Pinks music just never hits the spot. I think the problem is the single choices cuz her album tracks can be absolutely otherworldly and then the singles she pushes are mid at best .
I kind of relate to the stanning for someone you don’t listen to. I used to be a huge Lana fan and listened to her music all the time, bought the albums on release date etc. She even followed me on Twitter in 2013. But my taste in music shifted, I mostly listen to 80s pop and don’t really listen to Lana as much. Also, those songs are associated with some not so great times so I don’t tend to revisit them. That said, I’ve bought like 3 of her albums just to support her- two of which I never listened to 😅 that’s crazy yes but I wish her the best always for helping me though rough times. I’m so happy to see her thriving and creating. So while I don’t follow her like I did, I’ll still support 😊
37:55 is giving Hansel from Zoolander “My favorite artist would probably have to be Sting. I don’t listen to his music but the fact he’s making it I respect that.”
I like the unpopular opinion videos we get to see a lot more of your personality. You're very likable. Also I hope my opinion made it in part 2 cause I would love to here your take on it
I agree, I do get annoyed with seeing sex scenes on television. I’m watching The Idol and while I think Jocelyn’s storyline is interesting, the sex scenes are unnecessary and kind of dumb down the show
Tbh I really wish eras do come back at some point, they are just really enjoyable to me personally and feel like they tell a story even if they actually aren’t
ok the segment about album eras makes me scream YES! YES! YES!. I think one of the artists who mastered the art of eras in her prime was Janet Jackson. The album run of Control, Rhythm Nation, Janet., Velvet Rope, and even All for You is the perfect example of being able to look at a distinct chapter in an artists career and know exactly where it was from. Also, I don't think Janet get enough credit as a CONCEPTUAL artist. All those albums are phenomenally thought out concepts albums that created a universe for the listener to get lost in.
I think Lana is one of the best if not THE best artist for Soundtracks. Young and beautiful, once upon a dream, and big eyes are some of the best soundtrack songs to ever be made
SNL is one of those things you have to wait until you're older to get. I couldn't find the humor in my 20's but by 35 it started to speak my language. As time goes on and writers age out, it will then be your turn. (provided the shows still around in 10 years)
I get being a fan of someone, but not their work...but for actors. There are a lot of actors that I stay checking for their red carpet pics and interviews, but dont watch their TV shows or Movies.
37:04 Beomhan immediately came to mind. I'm not a stan but I do like seeing him pop up on my feed sometimes. His music isnt for me but I do honestly hope the best for him and his idol career.
For the opinion on artists that people like without listening to their music, I get it. Especially when that artist is producing content outside of music. I’m talking from a K-pop perspective but a lot of artists (like Seventeen) produce variety shows completely separate from their music or maybe if the artist is an actor as well. It gives people a chance to get to know them outside the lens of music
Grab some coffee!!! Lmaooo, it’s funny bc it’s 10am my time when the vids drop and some people are like “your vids drop when I’m off work” time zones are so crazy
44:49 I for real didn’t expect a glass animals mention, let alone How to be a Human Being mention. That album is so good and is definitely one of their best. Poplar St and Cane Shuga are my personal favorites from it but all of the songs in that album are just great in general
It wasn't that long lol. It was actually 2 years. The first single "London Bridge" was released on july of 2006 and the 6th and finale single titled "Finally" was released on March, 2008. It's the only single of the album that wasn't a top 5 bb hot 100 hit record and was number 1 bubbling under
yeah with the "good voice but not a performer or passion for music" opinion, i think that applies to Clara La San. She has a good voice her, identity has never been revealed😭
I have no friends so I go to concerts alone a lot. Once the artist is on stage, the people around you don't really matter. But before/after the show its really nice to be able to talk to your friends about the show and share the mutual excitement. Going alone could be really fun if you're an extroverted person, because it'll be easy for you to make friends. I'm not extroverted at all, so in my experience it can be awkward sometimes.
Margot can act though, I think she tried hard as she can to shed off her blonde bombshell image but she’s very versatile as an actress, she can go from a Grace Kelly esque Hitchhock blonde character to playing Sharon Tate to a gritty character like Tonya Harding, a quirky anti-hero like Harley and a glamorous and bubbly Barbie and she seems a bit self aware.
My mom had those “eat this not that” diet books and they ranked chick fil a an A rating pretty consistently for fast food, so I bet that made a lot of moms feel like it was the healthy fast food choice 😂
For concerts, I do not want to go by myself. It is a safety thing while also being a bonding thing. So many things could happen at a concert and would be worried about being alone especially if I can’t detect something by myself. I also want to dance and enjoy it with a family member or friend.
I’ve been to a couple of concerts by myself over the past year and it can still be really fun if your main focus is the artist who’s performing. I definitely think though that you have to take more precautions going alone
Ariana fans are weird, especially the ones on twitter. I don’t relate to them but I am a fan / listener that knows all the songs inside out. But the thing that sucks is that Ariana doesn’t really know about fans like me, but only deals with those crazy ones one twitter.
37:03 I can definitely see where they're coming from especially with Kpop. I love blackpink but not their music. I love their personalities, persona and fashion. With kpop because idols are going alot of things outside music you can get away with not listening to the music. Also the same with actors. I love Timothee Chalamet even though I only watch like 3 movies he was in.
To answer your question about stanning someone but not for their music, i recently became an ateez stan by watching their interviews and variety shows and live stages and started stanning for their friendship dynamics and overall personalities. I'm still not familiar with most of their discography but i'm slowly getting there. This is all to say that it is possible to call yourself a stan of someone without mostly checking for their music
i think taylor swift does a really good job at having her eras. like if your a fan you can most definitely look at a picture and pick out what era she was in. (besides maybe fearless to speak now and folkmore)
I think the one thing I appreciate when Taylor act is that she does not take herself seriously and picks fun little roles here and there. She is not trying to win an Oscar and does it for giggles.
My favorite Ariana Grande album is Dangerous Woman, but I think Sweetener as a whole has the best singles. I’m not a fan of Positions as an album, but pov and safety net are two of my favorite songs from her
Positions is her worst. She said it was an R and B album?? I am like girl this sounds like your last two albums. Just basic pop music 🤷🏽♀️ And Positions was the first album where she wrote the majority of her songs. Her songwriting is not that good. I am a Dangerous Woman Stan. 🎤🎶
@@jadeblackwell6227 yea Positions is my least favorite album I’ve heard from her. The only album I haven’t heard in full yet is Yours Truly. I’m planning on listening to it soon
@@Timothyrpiano yours truly was pretty good. I think my favorite song from that album is Honeymoon Avenue. I wish she went to back to making ballads like this song, it really shows off her vocals.
I must say that besides the standard American accent, you have challenging accents with southern accents being the most difficult. Even the valley accent that is often duplicated can be imitated.
I got a concept by myself all the time just because a lot of the music I listen to my friends don’t listen to or they just don’t know the artist music that well and I’m not gonna miss out on the opportunity just because I’ll be by myself like I came in to the pot on myself, so I can enjoy things by myself
I feel like what’s stopping true eras from coming back is peoples attention spans are so short these days… seems like when an artist releases an album, a few months later Stans are wanting new music/ another album … it’s like damn y’all realize we had to wait 2+ years for a new album 😭😭
On the topic of separating art from artist: I very much agree that it’s case by case and to me that not only means for each individual artist, but also for each situation you encounter the music: For instance, I would never on my own choose to put on Chris Brown‘s music, but if Yeah 3x comes on at a party or in the club, I will enjoy it, because it’s unfortunately a damn fun song and it’s also nostalgic for me. Another… extreme example is that I have encountered online as well as in real life people who won’t support an artist because they wore fur in a music video or on a carpet. Don’t get me wrong, I myself am a vegetarian and animal lover and I would actually love for fur (and leather) to be banned, but this is just silly. Also it’s why many people think vegans are annoying, lol!
When it comes to Doja, I don’t feel the need to “separate the art from the artist.” She’s not nearly as problematic as a lot of celebs. She can be cringey, and she likes to troll. But all she really does is piss off people who want her to look and behave more basic.
For that one question about stanning someone you don’t listen to- I stan Keke Palmer DOWN and everything she stands for, however I only listen to one or two of her songs.
For the Taylor one.....shall we tell the person that Taylor directs some of her music videos? Like that's directing adyacent 😅. And yeah i miss eras too 😢
I think Ariana also holds herself back a bit when it comes to showcasing her talent. I never seen her UNLEASH enough. I dont expect her to be like any other artist performance wise but for someone who's supposed to be "the greatest voice of her generation," she plays it way too safe for me. She only recently gained confidence to do her whistle/high notes liberally throughout her songs and performances. I grew up with singers who werent afraid to SANG and I was born in '03. I know she has it in her, I just wish she let it out. I personally hate it when singers are timid with their talent.🤷♂️
I definitely agree that Ariana fans that are leaking stuff and being very critical because they aren’t getting new albums or singles are cruel asf. She’s in the middle of a movie right now and she’s busy and booked. She can’t do 20 things at once. Y’all need to learn to be patient and stop leaking her work. Also Miley is an amazing singer and has some good ballads but Demi is on the same level. Nightingale, stone cold, wildfire, skyscraper, dancing with the devil, etc. Demi and Miley are definitely the vocal powerhouses while selena is the type of singer who has an attractive fun voice and awesome personality that draws ppl to her. I think of bubblegum when I think of selena. She’s great and awesome but not unique. They are all talented in their own ways.Margot Robbie didn’t do the accent in I Tanya and some other roles but they are more unpopular. I agree with the concert singing. I only sing when the artist wants us to shout the lyrics and points the microphone at us. Overall I loved this video and how agitated you looked lol 😂 awesome job as usual! And PLEASE BRING ERAS BACK!!!!

@@hey4506 ikr !!! it just breaks my heart that there are people out there who can be so entitled and are so used to receiving and receiving that they just can't take it upon themselves to be grateful for what this artist has given us these past few years and let her breathe and take a break for a sec :(((
I think you both are taking a bit overboard.
How are the fans even able to leak all of this stuff?
Arianators aint shit, and its heartbreaking to see. They leaked EVERYTHING
Those die hard ‘fans’ on twitter have no life, no hobby’s and maybe even no friends. I feel so sorry that Ariana has to deal with those people, I’m not one of them and don’t claim that side of the fanbase.
@@RihannaChristinasame. i’m so disconnected from that side of her fan base that i didn’t even know they were that bad.
I’m an Ariana Grande fan and definitely agree. I wouldn’t call myself a die hard fan but those ppl leaking music is very cruel especially after all the stuff she’s been through and is currently going through. I just feel like it has to be someone on the inside profiting from these “leaks”. Like how do they keep getting leaked so often?
I was so upset seeing all the leaks.
I'm an inactive Arianator and I'm upset about the leakers too ☠ everyday on Twitter I see clips of leaks it's crazy
The OG accent for Harley Quinn is from Jersey, so people do that accent for the role
That makes sense! And yeah she always has the same accent in all the versions so Margots never stood out to me
In recent comics in the past decade she has been canonized as being a Brooklyn girl
Ariana Grandes music is underrated in her fandom because I've seen TikTok accounts who support her perfume more than her music
Fr of her lifestyle, ex boyfriend etc😕
Having an opinion seems unpopular these days. And some people actually think that you can only be a huge fan (stan) or a hater of an artist.
Yeah… I don’t think they teach what “opinion” means in schools anymore
@@naomi.cannibal unfortunately that's true. Well, i appreciate always other people's opinions, even when they are different of my own. We can learn a lot listening to other opinions.
@@dinasilva9263 I agree! When people express it well I really do like to hear different sides of a topic
I respect people's opinions when they can explain why
Ariana fans dont under rate her per se, but they definitely under respect her.
Stunner
Thank you💕
I think that Ariana’s TALENT is under appreciated. I feel as though she is overlooked when it comes to the amount of talent she holds and people focus so much on her appearance.
Fr I feel like if it wasn’t for her appearance no one would care but she is a vocalist a good one
I don't think her talent is under appreciated - shes not a songwriter (Jordin Sparks wrote songs intended to be released herself, but Arianas management team took these for her)
She's a good vocalist, but as an all rounder artist, I don't think the musician talent is there
I think she also holds herself back a bit when it comes to showcasing her talent. I never seen her UNLEASH enough.🤷♂️
Unpopular opinion Rihanna should’ve spaced of her albums.
And we definitely need more eras. Like the eras back in the early 2010s was the ish👏🏾😛
I heard it was being done to get out of her contract faster (but that’s not confirmed I don’t think)
I heard about the contract thing too, she was speedrunning 😂 I also think working and releasing so rapidly put her off doing music altogether
i highly recommend going to concerts by yourself, its not gonna be for everybody but i've done it multiple times now and i find it very chill and relaxed your're on your own schedule and i would definitely suggest you try it out
That actually sounds so much better than dragging someone along who doesn't want to be there
To add on to what you said about Ariana being under appreciated; I feel like a lot of people still see her as kid-ish (even though her latest releases have been more mature).
Ariana has been doing a lot of r&b type pop. I would like to see her next era be some dance pop or bubble gum pop.
totally agree that you don't need to be a professional singer/dancer to criticize. it's the laziest fallback and stan twitter knows that! they only whip it out when they can't argue with a criticism, but for some reason they feel like if they don't defend their fav's honor when someone disagrees with them, they aren't a real fan.
i like so many artists i know people don't like! them not liking those artists doesn't make me like them less
When it comes to romantic plot lines in TV, I like it when it’s a side storyline that builds over time. I don’t like it when it’s the main storyline though

Naomi I got you with the “You can like an artist and not like their music” opinion because I’m the biggest example of it. I’m also not the biggest fan of Charli XCX’s music but I love her.
Nicki said I’ll bring back my debut era

Omg yes!!! I'm obsessed with their new stuff!
I'm gonna go listen to it 10 years from now
you're so REAL for the Witness/Smile opinion! 🙌 people are way too comfortable disrespecting Katy, its so good to see someone appreciate Katy
Nah I HATE to call things underrated but I’ll say it for Smile idc
The artist can't be faulted regarding how many singles are promoted since they are at the mercy of the label's budget.

Oooh that could be fun! I watch sooo many period dramas and fantasies
I agree, I do get annoyed with seeing sex scenes on television. I’m watching The Idol and while I think Jocelyn’s storyline is interesting, the sex scenes are unnecessary and kind of dumb down the show
seeing you reference melanie martinez made me respect you 100000% more when discussing the eras. already a subscriber but DAMN!

I went to see Aly and AJ by myself, I been to music festivals by myself, it’s such a fun time!
For the opinion on artists that people like without listening to their music, I get it. Especially when that artist is producing content outside of music. I’m talking from a K-pop perspective but a lot of artists (like Seventeen) produce variety shows completely separate from their music or maybe if the artist is an actor as well. It gives people a chance to get to know them outside the lens of music

yeah with the "good voice but not a performer or passion for music" opinion, i think that applies to Clara La San.

That’s so true about Margot Robbie! When she played Tanya Harding, she did her accent so wrong!
I know it’s basic but I wanted Amy Adams in the role. But I’ve still seen the movie a few times and like it (can’t believe I forgot to mention it lol)
@@naomi.cannibal SAME! My thoughts exactly! And they look similar too!
JLO also claimed credit for the vocals. In those other examples listed credit is given
My mom had those “eat this not that” diet books and they ranked chick fil a an A rating pretty consistently for fast food, so I bet that made a lot of moms feel like it was the healthy fast food choice 😂
For concerts, I do not want to go by myself. It is a safety thing while also being a bonding thing. So many things could happen at a concert and would be worried about being alone especially if I can’t detect something by myself.
I also want to dance and enjoy it with a family member or friend.
We’re here for all opinions

I’m not a fan of Positions as an album, but pov and safety net are two of my favorite songs from her
this!! into u..side to side..so many fire songs on tht album 10/10 lol

I must say that besides the standard American accent, you have challenging accents with southern accents being the most difficult. Even the valley accent that is often duplicated can be imitated.
East coast accents often don’t use the hard American R, therefore easier for non-Americans to do. The British etc accents largely have softer r’s.

I got a concept by myself all the time just because a lot of the music I listen to my friends don’t listen to or they just don’t know the artist music that well and I’m not gonna miss out on the opportunity just because I’ll be by myself like I came in to the pot on myself, so I can enjoy things by myself
You’re so right I need to give it a try! Ima force myself
Exactly
Well… this aged well

For the Taylor one.....shall we tell the person that Taylor directs some of her music videos? Like that's directing adyacent 😅.
And yeah i miss eras too 😢
I totally get that, listening to a song that's too good could cause one to avoid it.
Dua lipa gave us a FULL ERA with Future nostalgia
And did!!!
one of the best soundtracks ever is Mockingjay Part 1. It's very Lorde heavy but its when she was in her most creative era.
I love the light is coming. It’s amazing, and idc what everyone says.
I actually love your personality it feels like were sitting down having a conversation
the Swish Swish part. Completely agree, it's just fun to just vibe with that song omg
