    Bought one a couple of years ago. Had a Crosman 3576 which is a great airgun which I gifted to my daughter for her to practice handgun shooting, so I replaced it with the 'Vigilante' which is really an updated version of the 357. Very pleased with it accurate and reliable. It is a 'full sized' air revolver which makes it ideal for practicing shooting real cartridge handguns..the grip, sighting, trigger and breath control all same as shooting a real handgun except no recoil, very little noise and much cheaper to shoot!

      Thanks, this Crosman Vigilante is based on the Crosman 357. The Crosman 357 came out in 1983, so the technology has been proven for 38 years.

    Another good review!
    The Vigilante’s handle is a bit large for smaller / younger hands, of course they had to put the co2 somewhere.

      The Vigilante I reviewed was newer, but used. I often look for used air guns, due to the price point, for review. Glad to hear that they changed up the packaging.

      I wish Crosman would go back to the 357 style grip. Much smaller and a more instinctual grip by feel. The Vigilante grips do not give a repeatable grip.

    I just got a crossman vigilante pistol and tried two different pellets through it. Results: GAMO silent cat heavy weight .177cal 10.5gr Many would not fire out of the gun. They would get stuck in the clip/mag and I had to push them out using a small nail. Don't buy for this gun!! The next pellet I tried was the CROSSMAN premier hollow point .177cal 7.9gr I fired 140 pellets without any problems.

    • @rustbeltairgun8718
      @rustbeltairgun8718  2 роки тому +2

      You will find that some pellets work better in some air guns than others, through experimentation. You might find that you have issues with Crosman pellets in GAMO air guns. I wouldn't condemn this air pistol because you had a problem with one type/brand of pellets, just shoot Crosman pellets that work.

    • @TOMMIETR7
      @TOMMIETR7 2 роки тому +1

      I feel like the hollowpoints might need more velocity for expansion. I love them in my nitro piston rifles, but I'm thinking, at close range and the lower velocity of the pistol, maybe the crosman destroyers, will do the trick. I will be experimenting, upon the arrival, of my vigilante! Keep us updated, if you continue to experiment! So too much fun!

      @@TOMMIETR7 I am using the crossman wadcutter, hollow point and the pointed pellets now. They seem to be working fine and are in stock at my local wal-mart. They are all shooting a pretty tight group. I am enjoying the vigilante a lot. Thank you all for the tips/replies. I am going to try the destroyers next to see how they do.

    I'm glad you laid it out so well. I'm pretty dumb. I used to like shooting 22s as a kid. Do you have to clean that gun and disassemble it for cleaning like a real one?

    • @rustbeltairgun8718
      @rustbeltairgun8718  3 місяці тому +1

      With real firearms, you have a lot of residue in the barrel and chamber, caused by the ignition of gunpowder. Airguns, powered by either air or CO2, are relatively clean and require little cleaning.

      Agreed, pointed pellets would probably benefit more from the rifling in the barrel, which cause a spin on the pellet, aiding in accuracy.

      Try another CO2 cartridge. Always put 1 drop of Automatic Transmission Sealer - any name brand - on each CO2 canister tip just before installing. When tightening the canister holding bolt at the bottom of the grip, when the canister has been tightened enough to allow the canister tip to be punctured, some little CO2 will be heard escaping. Keep tightening the bolt until the hissing sound stops. Then the canister is correctly installed. If further tightening doesn't stop the CO2 escaping, keep shooting the pistol. It will use more CO2, but the seal above the canister may only be dried too much. Occasionally try loading a canister and shooting - the seal may be revived by the Automatic Transmission Sealer fluid. Always turn the bolt another 2/8 turn after the hissing stops, and always tighten every canister the same amount. I leave my partially full canisters in my gun for many months, ready to go, and have never had a problem. You never need buy the expensive "specialty" Pellgun oil, the ATF Sealer is the same thing. Not says me, says the long-time expert Tom Gaylord. If the above process doesn't fix the seal after maybe 6 canisters, order the gun manual, and a few new seals (few $) from Crosman Corp, or Pyramid Air Corp, and change the seal 'without scratching the brass surface'. Buy a dental type 90% turned, pointed prod as a tool for changing seals.
      Please let us know how it goes.

      @rustbeltairgun8718  2 роки тому

      Well, my high school girlfriend shot me in the butt with my Crosman 357, at about 15 feet, in the 1980s. She thought it would be "funny". Boy was I mad at her. The Crosman 357 is the predecessor of the Crosman Vigilante.
      It stung for a couple days, despite wearing jeans. The pellet didn't break the skin.
      The Crosman Vigilante is fairly accurate at 20ft, due to its rifled barrel.

      Yes, the questions is, how many BBs do you have shoot to foul the rifling......10000.....100000.....1000000? I think the manufacturers count on the fact that you will not shoot enough BBs during the life of the airgun to foul the rifling.
