I can't help but laugh. It's literally Lestat. I never thought we'd actually see this character accurately portrayed on screen. In literally ALL of his unstable, unhinged glory... Tom Cruise did an okay job, but only for book 1 Lestat. Sam Reid is channeling Lestat in his entirety and it's so amazing it literally makes me laugh with job, even when he's being the absolute worst.
He's essentially like a spoiled toddler, who has superman level power. Or hell, JakJak 🤣He needs a lot of love and attention, constantly and at deafening levels. And if he doesn't get it, or it lacks or falters even slightly, he throws a monster of a spoiled brat fit. I have such a hard time even being angry at him, because I can't stop laughing at his antics long enough 😅 Sam's portrayal of him is masterful.
Lestat's guide to dealing with being ghosted:
1) Start sh*t at a funeral
2) Punch a priest through the head
3) Succes!
This is SO Lestat! He has to be the center of attention or he freaks out lol I'm loving this show so much!
@@TsukishiroSoren I absolutely loved him going off in the funeral procession like that. I mean, it was obviously a Very Bad Thing to do and I wouldn't recommend acting like that in real life, but it was just peak Lestat. Like, "Screw there being a time and a place for things, we're going to talk about what I want and why you're not giving it to me!"

I remember when this show was first announced and all the trolls and haters dogged it without a chance, all because of Anderson’s casting as Louie. It was example after example of the worst kind of ignorance. I am so glad the show is as good as it is.

The worst argument for the initial, negative responses to Louis’ race-swap was when the earlier trolls would justify their hateful comments by disguising them as a “critique”. First, how does one truly critique something one hasn’t experienced? By definition, you have to have seen or read a body of work in order to critique it. Instead, the trolls often “critiqued” Anderson’s casting (before the series even aired) by comparing it to ridiculous, make-believe, casting choices (e.g., an Asian woman cast as Blade or a 400lbs actor to play Captain America) in order to gaslight everyone into believing their hate was about something other than race. Let’s be clear, the disgusting vitriol and threats to boycott the show-potentially ending Anderson’s job-was all about skin color, which is the definition of racism and YES, being acutely aware of this is also being woke. To prove this, you do not have to make-up ridiculous castings, you simply can point to actual ones that ALL received the same type of backlash: Anna Diop/Starfire [Titans], Michael B. Jordan/Human Torch [Fantastic Four], Anandla Stenberg/Rue [Hunger Games], Moses Ingram/3rd Sister [Obi-Wan], Steve Toussaint/Corlys Vela [House of Dragons]. One can argue that each of these shows had artistic problems, but none of those problems are attributed to these specific actors and certainly not their race. So, where is the justification for the “critque”? There is a common, hate-filled denominator when Black actors race-swap a central character and to suggest otherwise is both insulting and lazy. So, If you have a history of critiquing the existence of Black people, whether in the arts or in general-you should also have a history of critiquing Black oppression! If you do not think racism exists or that people are treated differently, denied opportunities, or lack representation based solely on skin-color, please check your bias and say less!

Jacob Anderson brings so much dimension to the show with his version of Louis, some people are too caught up in prejudice and "how things should be" to hear him out which is ridiculous.
When Jesus says yes, nobody can say no! These 2 did an amazing job. I’m fully satisfied, and in awe of their talent!!
Saw him in a clip of GAMES OF THRONES on UA-cam shorts the other night. I said to myself that's Jacob. Might have been just a small role. Loving his new show and cannot wait for the second season when Lestat comes back. Don't like Armand at all.
It’s more about depiction of the characters. Now if Louis was depicted and Anderson happen to match his looks the. It’s all good.
Seeing how close they are in real life really helps explain why their onscreen chemistry is through the roof in every scene they share together.
The fact that Sam Reid is such an obvious Lestat fan boy playing our Brat Prince is such a blessing to this fandom!

This is my new favorite show! I’m addicted. Sam Reid is exactly how I imagined Lestat from the books. And that smooth velvety French accent ❤! And Anderson as Louis is perfect bc he is soooo beautiful!!
im a little distracted by the way Jacob looked at Sam when he was answering his question. This is not about shipping or whatever I assure you its just his look has a lot of adoration for what his screen partner has to say. I think they have a beautiful working relationship!
he is looking for confirmation - and he is a bit smaller than Sam, so he has to look up and that gives some sort of impression. they shot this amazing show together with lots and lots of very intimate scenes. by now probably only their spouses have more knowledge about them than they have of each other. the 'looking into each others eyes' isn't an issue anymore
They have such an intense, beautiful chemistry together. They both are incredible actors and I am thankful that we get to watch all this unfold. Lestat and Louis just draw you into their world of pain and pleasure.

@@aisha02a I don't buy that... I think Rice was just exhausted fighting fighting the studios and with her eminent death she gave in, securing a financial legacy for her survived family. I think all the shoehorned identity politics was probably a product of her son Christopher's influence. He's a 'social activist' and as much as Anne was very left leaning, I don't think she would've approved with such an obvious agenda, changing her stories to the degree that the producers have. You know "Lucas Film" is shown before most of Disney's films? ... We know how he feels about Disney's direction for the stuff they're making now. 😂 ... Anne Rice was always extremely adamant about her work remaining intact and true to the source. Go watch her interviews about what they did with Queen of the Damned. I think this was more about money than anything else.

@@Fiveash-Art she also had the idea of Cher being Louis in the IWTV movie, she didn’t shy away from changing things from her own source material. She also liked the musical they did that changed the story to where Lestat becomes the main character in certain events from Interview that happen with Claudia and Armand.
She ALSO wrote Feast of all Saints about free people of color in New Orleans with a major male character dealing with his love for another man.
To say she would have been against “woke” changes, or changes at all, in my opinion is ridiculous. Queen of the damned movie was just bad.

Ooohh did anyone else catch how Sam got a bit emotional for a moment, talking about two men kissing under jesus christ... He clearly feels strongly about that. What a beautiful soul, both of them 🖤 How did we all get so lucky?!
when i started itwv i thought it would be campy and like okayish bc i didn't really see enough hype about it but louis' monologue in the confession chamber literally gave me goosebumps. jacob is such an incredible actor i couldn't Not watch this show

This show is SO GOOD. I’m absolutely LOVING what they’ve done/doing with this series.
These two actors talking about their characters is like couples therapy goals. 😂 💕 This is definitely one of my favorite on screen pairings. I always feel that Interview With The Vampire is one of the best stories depicting domestic violence and dysfunctional relationships. Sam Reid is a beautiful screen god who I will worship forever. Jacob Anderson is so down to earth it elevates everything he does to high art. 🙌
I read all the books seen the movie from the 90’s one billion times . But this show is exquisite. Visually delicious, from the directing to the writing and the superb acting it’s an 11 out 10❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰

Anne Rice wouldn't have signed off on this garbage ... I feel like the rights were sold because she was dying and felt her survived family would benefit in the long term. This is so far from the source material it almost seems like a joke.
@@Fiveash-Art the show was in development long before she passed. Her and Chris (her son) had received the outline and scripts for the show, and even provided feedback for it. AMC started the development in June of 2021, months before Anne passed. She also provided an update on her Facebook in August of 2021 as Chris had said she felt optimistic about the adaptation. And so far, the show is great! It sticks to the spirit of the books and characters and gives it a new take to distinguish it from the 1994 film adaptation.
@@Dank951 Nope, they changed things that didn't need changing, .. and all for this social political agenda. I think she basically gave up fighting these Hollywood producers ... I can however imagine Christopher cheerleading these nonsensical changes ... It is funny how he left the project though. Something stinks bad about all of it .. and I don't trust anything, especially since Anne Rice is not here to give her story.

To me the symbolism of the scene of characters kissing in front of the church altar meant methaphore for a wedding since they basically promised to spend eternity with each other.

I was. The way he speaks to Louis, and the way they describe it in this video really is the gist of it, I think.
I watched it like 10x back to back, no lie. I rarely rewatch shows but I was fascinated from the first scene. I was in love with their portrayal of our beloved characters. I can’t wait for the second season.

I just how well Sam put into words what the books are trying to say. How much the vampire question their nature through religion. I loved how he view that scene in the church. Just overall, get the feeling that he understands so well the story, his character and the books.

Ok I just watched this show and literally made all of my family and friends watch it and we now have a group chat. The acting is superb! Visuals are incredible. Literally can’t wait until season 2.

All of my favourite things in one show... a period piece, mythical creatures, hot guys played by Australian & British actors , bromance & an interesting storyline!
EDIT: Lets not forget how it's a book to screen adaptation & as someone else reminded me of romance*! It's also set in one of the most mystical locations in the world!

@The Modern Astro Guru And go to sticker shops, and Universal, and dinners, etc. I know a huge part of the fanbase wants them to be together, regardless of Jacob's family. But, I just love seeing a healthy and mutually happy/beneficial friendship between two adult men. There's such a messed up stingma in this world about men just being friends, or being friendly. So its just beautiful to see to men able to simply enjoy eachothers company 😁
Their chemistry even here is amazing. No wonder the show is so great. Can't wait until Season 2. I loved the original movie and this series has made me love this story even more from a little bit of a different perspective. Absolutely a gem.
I love this show, they picked amazing actors! I loved Louie and Lestat- the actors are amazing! the only thing I had an issue with was the violent scene between them, that’s not in the books. Lestat and Louie love each other, and that love remains throughout all the books in the series.

Not throwing hate here, but I've never seen any of the cast of iwv from '94 having so much chemistry, love for the books, to actually be a fan of the books before he's even casted, and then also play mindblowing bi roles like Sam R. did and made u cry :( plus you can see how passionate all the cast is while delivering emotion. I also love how you can feel Louis's humanity in the close up shots when he's having the interview, while Lestat has that entitled, bratty, anarchist, musician/artist, rebel but also need for a companion vibe. Best cast ever ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤❤❤
I adore this show and I've only seen two episodes!
This show is incredible and keeps me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I have never been able to follow a series before like every week bc I would just lose interest and it wasn’t worth keeping up with vs say playing videos games or something else adults do. But this show!!! Omg, my mind screams at me to go watch the next episode like I’m living for the first time. It’s so hard for me to be captivated. I don’t even follow house of dragons. I watched maybe two episodes and I put it down bc it gets boring for me. But this is never boring and Every scene and every episode has a purpose. So much so I’m about to go on a binge to just rewatch bc it’s so beautiful. Love this, it makes life truly worth living.

I didn’t watch the show yet, I will once the season is over and once I’m less lazy but every interview I saw of Sam are interesting to watch, it’s clear that he loves what he is doing and loves the books as well. They both are brilliant actors!
I tried to wait but after reading the reviews from mutual followers on twitter, I caved in and started watching two days ago; and I am completely hooked. They are the embodiment of Louis and Lestat. Just incredible.

As a fan of the books (long time reader) this show is fucking fabulous...way better than the movie. I am glad we get to see TvL Lestat (and all the books after) and not JUST the Lestat in IwtV, since the Lestat in that book is well, very diffrent than the other installments. This show is just great, and WAAAAY better than the movie (and I liked most of the movie too).
