Hmm just going off the series, I haven't read the books, I think his ideas of protection and agency are very skewed, albeit by his formative experiences of terrible abuse and dehumanisation, but skewed leaning towards control and coercion. I think he literally doesn't know how to feel safe without the people he loves/surrounds himself with existing within these like really rigid structures he defines and has the final say in, so like. Idk how much of a safe space it really ends up being for those in it? Once you're in it he definitely will do anything to keep you IN. Idk about safe lol. I definitely agree about him enduring for others though. Ties back into the manipulation too.

I'm french, and I think Assad's french is pretty good in the show. I'm surprised he learned it for the show... I told my wife I think he already knows how to speak french. I guess I was wrong.
Hey, just to jump on this comment, how would you say Sam Reid’s (Lestat’s) french is in this season? To a non-speaker like me it sounds really good, but I’m just interested how is it like for you… and regardless, acting while speaking another language must be hard, so hats off to Assad and Sam!
@@pikypix4852 Hey! French speaker here: I would say, it does not sound native whatsoever but it's really understandable and charming. I think Sam Reid has a voice & a diction that makes everything... velvety. Same with Armand, you can hear the sharp edges in his diction that he also has when he speaks English (I think, I am really bad at picking English accent & intonation) which as a character would make sense as he probably learned French later in his "life". The only scene where I had to read the English caption was in the Théâtre des Vampires when everyone was speaking French: there, it was so hard to follow. It has been years since I have been so enthusiastic about a show: the acting is immaculate, the writing is both witty and reminiscent of Werther's romanticism, which indeed makes it telenovela-esque. And I am in love with the art direction, the makeup, and the clothes.

Assad is so good at being Arnand. When I watch the show, I really believe he is more than human. Like a demi God. I think it's because of his whole demeanor.
Armand is such a complicated character* because you never really know what he's thinking but Assad brings so much life and dimension to him from a tilt of the head to a look in the eye, I just cant get over his talent!
There’s something that much more tragic about Armand creating safe spaces for the people he loves when no one has ever created a safe space for him… It explains why Louis begging him to take care of Claudia captured Armand’s heart. Here, finally, is someone loving and protective; someone who, even at the perceived moment of his own destruction, is thinking not of himself but of his daughter. How could Armand destroy that person and remove them forever from his life?
I can't repeat enough how grateful I am with Assad for bringing Armand to life. I know the show got so many angry voices about books accuracy, but most of us Armand stans were theorizing about Rashid being Armand since episode 3 or so because of how Armand-coded the character was. Assad is soooooo lovely, open, insightful, talented and gorgeous! Such a great interview, thank you once again Autumn 💜 AND THE PAINTINGS 🤣 brilliant, ILY gurl!!! I completely agree, the subtleties in his acting this season (and S1) are SO powerful, and the bits of lashing out just wanna make me see more facets of his incredible Armand. And the technology fascination, do we have one more possession case in the cast?! 👀 #bettercalltalamasca Also, his dad is me 🤯 I'm in my early 40s but when the internet came along I was obsessed with the easy access of music and movies (my loves) after so many years of struggling with recording from TV and radio on VHS and cassette. It's still amazing to me with the frequent new options, and I never take it for granted (who's getting philosophical now 🙈). Dude, the Spice Girls (including the movie) were HUGE here in Brazil, our generation still remembers everything! Geri was my fave too 🔥

Autumn, thank you so much for everything you do for this amazing and incredible fandom! I am so proud that the show's creators have noticed you. We are truly lucky that you are the one conducting the interviews! I adore your personality, the jokes you make, and the questions you ask.❤ I am writing to you from the Russian part of the fandom (please don't hit me with sticks for this, I escape the dictatorship of my country only through the escapism of this wonderful show). We even created our own little community where we rewatched the first season, and when the episodes were over, we started watching your videos and enjoying every single one of your phrases.😂 Your content is of such high quality that I feel like I'm flying when you say something specific to this fandom. I want to kiss you on the forehead and thank you for literally saving me from terrible depressive episodes. Also, I might have stolen a couple of your signature jokes, so please don't arrest me for that, but I just couldn't resist using them to look better in the company of friends.😔
Thank you so much for saying all of this!! I wouldn’t dream of throwing sticks; I’m so glad to help bring joy and escapism for your community! Feel free to borrow any absurd phrases of mine that you wish! 💛

You did it again! 👌🏾I just wanted to say that as I french speaker Assad as the most precise pronunciation of french words for an english speaking actor, I wonder if he have a natural talent with languages? I really had to “ suspend my disbelief “ with this episode, because the actors were fabulous but french is not there first language… Assad prononciation was really soothing. Guys my love for this show was really tested!😭 But I’m coming out from the other side a better fan lol!😂 Pray for me lol!
Phenomenal interview! I'm incredibly impressed by the smooth flow and specificity of this interview. I hope you get to interview more of the cast, you're brilliant at it!!
!!! this was such a joy of an interview! I love getting these different levels of reflection and discussion, and all these additional smaller fun tidbits and sections. I feel like these sort of more casual settings allow for a different kind of dialogue with more room for a more relaxed relation to the topics. Which gets us these smaller fun moments, as well as deeper discussions, personal impressions (just happy to hear what's given) and some more serious theorizing/philosophical rambling (also same, I am too glad we got some of that in the café scene). Hmm curious curious, but also just generally fun feeling validated in personal interpretations too of things hah. Cool 👍

Assad is such a wonderful Armand! I was unsure after the reveal how it would go, but man, he just transformed and became this magnetic being and he's just nailing it. So impressed.
And he only gets better and better with each episode!!
Holy crap he is *gorgeous*
I love his humor and how Assad is able to express and explain things so clearly?? If that makes sense?? Especially his love for the Spice Girls! 🤭
👀 #bettercalltalamasca
Also, his dad is me 🤯 I'm in my early 40s but when the internet came along I was obsessed with the easy access of music and movies (my loves) after so many years of struggling with recording from TV and radio on VHS and cassette. It's still amazing to me with the frequent new options, and I never take it for granted (who's getting philosophical now 🙈).
Dude, the Spice Girls (including the movie) were HUGE here in Brazil, our generation still remembers everything! Geri was my fave too 🔥

Thanks for this interview! It's so nice to hear actors speak about their characters for this long. I'm glad Assad got the role of Armand. He was really good as Rashid too but Armand is the role where he can really shine. Good for him!
SCREAMING INTO MY NEXT LIFE!!!!!!!!!
Good lord, he's such a darling, and the love he clearly has for Armand warms my heart. I, too, want to see the gremlin hiding behind this character Armand is playing at the moment. Eagerly awaiting the moment we get to see more of his past as well.
I would have honestly passed away as soon as i saw him, so kudos to you for not dying and instead bringing us such a good and fun interview 🙏🏼 (i just want to know if there's any fiona apple in that playlist!!)
Just finished watching this at 3am (Wales), and the smile didn't leave my face for the entire hour! Love your quirky intros and the customary shot goodbye for each of these interviews, and appreciate your questions and the time you give them to really explore how they want to answer them - I swear I could listen to each member of this cast (and crew) give in-depth talks on every aspect of their characters, they're all so charismatic and articulate! Adore your reviews and your warm energy - thanks Autumn!
Thank you!!!!
This interview was fantastic, thank you for making it possible! Assad has really knocked it out the park this season. I hope that he reads these comments and sees how much we all love and appreciate him!
(Also, that scarf and green suit is 🔥)
I think I can safely say I'm in love with Assad Zaman 😭❤️
Omg he's so cute. You really rocked this interview, too. Great chemistry between you two! Can't wait till next week
After watching the season 2 finale, Assad's little aside about Lestat @ 16:36 and how he quickly tried to backtrack is precious.
Ahh! This was such a good interview
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
I just watched the entire interview, and I have to say, I'm increasingly captivated by Assad; he's such an amazing and magnetic person to talk to.
Also... he's definitely an Armand apologist, the whole interview haha
Congratulations on the excellent job conducting the interview!
Thank you!!
I was so sad that there would be no podcast out for this season. These interviews have filled that void.❤❤❤
Surpassed the s1 podcasts imo 😉
AN HOUR?!? AHHH i can't possibly thank you enough for this omg
6 auditions 🥴? Damn…I probably would’ve been like “f*** it they don’t want me 😒” lmaooo
Not gonna lie I didn't hear a word he said. i came here to stare a him for an hour
Truly one of the most exciting breakout performances I've seen in a long time. Such a magnetic presence. Great interview!
OH MY GODDDD!!!! You absolutely made my day Autumn! What an adorable sweetheart Assad is. And as a fellow Bengali I just get urge to introduce him to my mom and feed him sweets 😋. I also noticed when you asked him about Devil's Minion, he must been trying really hard not to give anything away and as a result his Armand face came on. Overall I loved loved the discussion you both had.
P.S - And now for the amazing gift that you have graced us with I will pray to the divine forces that may you never have to pay for ice creams and cocktails.
P.P.S - That thumbnail is perfection! You have truly delivered on your promise ❤️
He is so delightful! And the bit he shared about Spice Girls and the S Club 7 and the UK pop bands from talent shows scene is sooo charming. Assad is one of the pop culture girls!!
But on a serious note ohmygosh he is such a fantastic actor, and his performance and accent work on this season were phenomenal. The bits he shared about feeling anxious and freaking out ahead of the show filming were also agdfhdfahf so heartening. Hope he has a lot of people reinforcing that he's fantastic at what he does.
Thanks for the mix of levity and thoughtful questions, great conversation! Love the paintings too
Assad is so freaking talented, and I am overjoyed to see that he is also apparently a huge sweetheart as well. ❤️ And that beanie with his hair is such a good look... BOTH of you look stylish as hell!
First of all, KILLER fit! Showing the true professional you are when it comes to interviewing 🧛🏻
Assad is a such a heavenly presence! Surprised you didn’t self-destruct just looking at him…
Also, those paintings need to become prints! They need to be on my wall
Girl.. it was so hard not to IMMEDIATELY melt when those eyes met mine
God he is insanely sweet and thoughtful and funny.
Autumn this made my day. I don’t even know what to tell you. I love this so much ❤
I’m glad to have made your day 😁
S Club 7! That brings me back, i loved them so much, the band and the tv show 😂
Aaaaaaah this video just cured my flu right on spot😭This is such a fun interview and I’m again so moved by Assad’s humbleness and insights into Armand…Also, fellow redhead lovers unite🫡
54:09 - Assad, you have given us the Armand I've always wanted to see yet never quite entirely had on-screen before now, you have brought exactly what you needed to bring to this role...and then some. Thank you!😊 💖
Armand is one of my faves. Assad is amazing
Autumn, thank you so much for everything you do for this amazing and incredible fandom! I am so proud that the show's creators have noticed you. We are truly lucky that you are the one conducting the interviews!
I adore your personality, the jokes you make, and the questions you ask.❤
I am writing to you from the Russian part of the fandom (please don't hit me with sticks for this, I escape the dictatorship of my country only through the escapism of this wonderful show). We even created our own little community where we rewatched the first season, and when the episodes were over, we started watching your videos and enjoying every single one of your phrases.😂
Your content is of such high quality that I feel like I'm flying when you say something specific to this fandom.
your content deserves so much more notoriety the way you've been feeding the fandom
💛💛💛
seen it 5 times now, this whole interview was such a treasure! Assad is adorable and understands Armand's character and relationships with other characters so great, and makes perfect intense Armand on screen. it all makes me even more thrilled for the future of this show. loved the silly funny bits too hehe
What an absolutely wonderful interview!! You asked such thoughtful, interesting questions and it was amazing to see how similarly well-versed Assad is about TVC. And overall this was just the perfect mix of casual, funny, and relaxed while still broaching so many thought-provoking, hard-hitting topics. Thank you for this!!!
The paintings 🖼 you did are BEAUTIFUL! Especially thevArmand & Louis 1 with Lestat barely peaking over their shoulders!! I'd buy them! Love how you always incorporate a skit into the beginning of your interviews!
@@dominiquedevereux7205 thank you!! 😁😁
He has the face of an angel, mad skills and such an endearing personality. What a great interview!
IM IN LOVE
BIG SAME BIG SAME
I love him so much!!! I could listen to you two talk for hours. This was so good!!🖤
Again great interview!
Loved all the cast interviews. But this one certainly is my favorite ❤
Ur the only review page to get an interview w one of the actual ppl
How iconic
I smiled so much my face hurts Thank you for this amazing interview!
!!! this was such a joy of an interview! Cool 👍
