  • Glock pistols are known for the reliability, durability and long term performance. Some people don't like the aesthetics (the look) of the pistol but it works and can be counted on when your life depends on it. Support us at gofund.me/70980c74
Our two gripes of the stock glock pistol is the trigger and it's plastic sights.
Glock introduced their "Performance Trigger" at shot show in January, 2023. SInce the introduction it' has won many many positive reviews. But the question remains, is this trigger worth the money. In this video we share our perspective.
According to the Glock website..."The GLOCK Performance Trigger delivers enhanced trigger pull qualities and ergonomics utilizing a newly designed flat-faced trigger. The GLOCK Performance Trigger provides better trigger control, resulting in improved shootability and accuracy while maintaining the safety features of the GLOCK Safe Action® System."

I've owned Glocks for over 30 years and love my Glocks. This looks like a very good upgrade that should probably come standard on a new Glock. The Glock is still a great fighting pistol but they are falling behind other makers in terms of trigger and other features that are now stnadard on other makers pistols.

100% agree. Glock has failed to innovate and create better offerings! SOme many other brands continue to do new and better things with their products,
I think Glock won't sell this installed in their pistol. First they want to sell add ons, next they know that many people whop buy pistols do get training or practice as much is needed to master trigger management. My assumption is they're covering the butts from liability standpoint to some degree. So if the user buys this upgraded trigger, they can say any NDs are the fault of the user... of course this is always the case anyway.

well it's a very light trigger for LEO use...... that's the issue.... department heads have concluded that their officers need a heavy trigger...and most very low trained officers do..... lots of them will put that booger picker on the bang switch even during traffic stops...... they don't need 4lb triggers....ya know.@@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC

I'm curious about your what is said in your last sentence. Setting aside the subject of this video, what features are you referring to that other guns have that Glock does not? I'm just curious, because I really like the Glock pistol, especially the Gen 5 model, and there really isn't much else that I would like. I do like this upgraded trigger, but honestly, I didn't have an issue with the stock trigger. I am asking this question because I read tons of comments where guys are saying "Glock is failing to innovate," and I really don't see what else they can do other than to stop using the shitty plastic sights. It seems fashionable for some manufacturers to to introduce "Gucci" guns with features I don't want or need.

I just installed the new trigger in my G45 last night. Though I haven't shot the gun as of yet, I really like it, but I don't think that I would pay the $99.00 Glock rate for it. I purchased mine for $65.00 during a Christmas sale, and that is about all that I am willing to pay.

I’m a Leo of 28yrs, LE Firearms Instructor & Idpa Master Class shooter. I run a Glock perf. trigger on a 17Mos for Idpa. I’m probably at the 1k rd mark too. No problems, breaks at 4lbs. I do clean & lube my gun. The thing I really like about this trigger for me, when it breaks it really stays on target. The OE trigger always has that twitch when it breaks. With a red dot you can really see it. I saw where Ben Stoeger had problems, but he doesn’t clean or lube his guns. 🤪 I like this trigger, just wish it had the Overwatch Polydat flat shoe 👍🏻🇺🇸

Sir, thank you so much for commenting. Also, I appreciate your service as a LEO.
Proper maintenance of any firearm is essential. I know people like to believe that Glocks don’t require any lubrication, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes, they can put up with a lot of miss treatment, but they operate for more efficiently if they have the proper maintenance performed.

    Owned several glocks within the past 10 years. G17 3/4/5. G23 4. G27 4. G34 4
    G21 4.
Shot the heck out of them in those years. To me in my experience I always found the -3.5 lbs connector to work best in gen 3 models. I had a minus connector in the 17 gen 5 with no difference. Noticed an improvement in the g21 gen4 with a Oem minus connector and runs great.
As for better enhanced performance systems and aftermarket assemblies. Yes they work and are improvement for sure. I have seen individuals with these systems shoot well during courses and match’s.
With this said and I have no experience with the new glock trigger system whatsoever, but have had firearms upgraded specifically the G34 4. 17.4 & 23.4. Triggers, springs, flat faced shoes you name it
The one thing I didn’t like, was how quick it broke through the wall. I always found when presenting the firearm out of holster and staging the trigger with a decent wall have better control and shot placement per single shot. Because of this I run the glocks stock. After 2000+ rounds they loosen up nicely you really get use to the Oem triggers. Yes there a tad heavy but that gives you the control we need.
Several occasions, not an accidental discharge by any means because it was pointed in safe directions down range, but found trigger systems that were upgraded after presenting the firearm out of holster The shot would break way too quickly leaving you saying wow 😅
I stopped upgrading triggers in glocks when you had a video showing a GEN2 19 that you’re retired and kept as a backpack gun not sure if you remember that video
I can keep on rambling on your shooting is great and your groups are nice and tight well done
Ps I’ve been using your Dot drill that I took from one of your videos way back. Works so well.
As always, keep up the great work

As an aside, I noticed you have a Vickers Tactical grip plug takedown tool on your G45. I’ve always wanted just a little bit more to hang onto on my G19. I found if I dremel the ridge off the bottom of that it gives my hand another 1/2 inch to grip. It actually feels much better. Any thoughts on running a standard connector with the GPT to make it more "carry" friendly? And any concerns with it being fully tensioned from a drop safety perspective?

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  11 місяців тому +1

Thanks for the question. Since this trigger and all parts are made by Glock, I'm not worried about the drop safety issue. Glock has too much potential liability if they didn't' do extensive testing on that before releasing this.
For me I'm not concerned about having a specific pistol with a heavier "carry trigger" though many people want that. I think this is more of a training issue that a trigger weight issue. At the same time, I know not everyone has the time or money to train and practice extensively so they have completely mastered trigger management and trigger control. For people concerned about that then they could experiment with different connector and heavier springs.
I've not tried the stock connector with the rest of the assembly, but that might be a solution for people wanting a more specific cross over carry / competition trigger.

The best trigger setup in a Glock is a GPT with the JG vex shoe that is tuned for the performance trigger. The GPT is great but it has a long reset, the JG vex shoe shortens the take up and really shortens the reset. It’s amazing. It will also work in gen3 glocks with minor modifications to the trigger housing “feet” I have it in my gen 3 compatible P80 build and it’s been rock solid nearing 1500 rounds and multiple competitions/uspsa matches. Most aftermarket Glock triggers can only change the feel of the trigger shoe (flat faced, metal) and you can reduce the trigger pull weight by changing three springs inside it (and likely screwing its reliability and safety). Changing to a 3.5lbs connector is the most I did with my Glocks.
The biggest problem with Glock triggers (and most striker fired pistols) is the mushy trigger and the lack of a defined wall, not the pull weight.
What separates Glock’s performance trigger from the rest is the fact that it adds a SEAR to the mechanism, finally giving it a defined wall.
This is the first time I’m excited to change the trigger on a Glock, too bad it is not compatible with Gen3 and wife framed Gen4.

I don't know if this is a Gen4-only problem, but I had a GPT in my Gen4 G19 recently, and was cycling dummy rounds through. I had a few hang up and not feed (yeah, I was cycling it with vigor). I took a close look. The firing pin with the GPT was free floating, and could easily protrude from the frame (as in primer strike mode) and the dummy round was getting hung up on that as it slid up and out of the magazine. Did a quick change to test the basic trigger and not such firing pin action or problem handing up on rounds. For a Gen4, I'm out of the GPT game!

Sir, thank you for watching in commenting. I think a lot of people are concerned about potential liability. Some people are concerned that having a trigger that isn’t a stock factory trigger would expose them in a way they are concerned about. My view is slightly different.
My perspective is if you were properly trained and can document that training as well as regular practice and examples of your proficiency, having a enhanced trigger is not necessarily a liability. Please understand I’m not an attorney and I’m not giving legal advice.
The reality is trigger and proper. Trigger management is a training and practice issue. If someone cannot keep their finger off the trigger in till they made a conscious decision to shoot that yes, having a modified trigger might make a difference. On the other hand, if you have the training, skills and proficiency, it is not in my mind an issue.
For me, it really comes down to training and proficiency. Too many people modify their pistols, but don’t practice or actually get formalized trading. Without those I think you expose yourself to more potential liability.
Thanks so much for coming and watching. I hope you will subscribe.

@@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC I can only comment as a person who was unjustly prosecuted several years ago, and made it through that experience without a conviction. When you're being prosecuted, you enter a bizarro world where everything is upside down. If there's no evidence of guilt, a prosecutor will try to whip up the appearance of guilt, because often that's enough to get a conviction. Absolutely everything you have said or done will be presented as dishonest, indicative of guilt, or at the very least, suspicious. One example for you. In my case, I was accused of driving onto private property in hours of darkness for the purpose of committing a crime. Turns out, the area was under 24/7 video surveillance. So if my car wasn't there, that's good for me, right? Not really. I sat in a hearing where my attorney asked a police officer if the recorded video showed my car entering the area. No....my car was not visible, but the video was pretty dark, the officer said. Well then, were there any car headlights seen on this dark video? No, the officer answered, no lights. The DA rose from his seat to claim that despite there being zero video evidence, my car must have been there with the headlights turned off. When my attorney offered evidence that this was impossible....my vehicle had daytime running lamps that could not be deactivated....the prosecutor claimed that somehow I must have both disabled my headlights AND driven to a place where no vehicle was visible. So here's a piece of evidence that should have cleared me, but they found a way to twist it into an implausible scenario that nevertheless implied guilt. All that to say....if we're strictly talking about legal ramifications, there's no way in hell I would modify a trigger on a self defense firearm. When they say "anything you say can and will be used against you", they mean it.

Sir, thank you for commenting. I put around 470 rounds through it in a fairly short two hour range session. I have multiple Glock magazines in 17 and 19 round versions. I had about 300 rounds loaded in the magazines and shot those without issue.
A Glock like any other pistol needs lubrication. And occasional cleaning. I’ve had no issue with this trigger through high round training sessions.
However, I always give light lube to the pistol for any areas that might have friction points. I’ve run other Glock pistols, 2000 rounds without cleaning, but I’ve always made sure that the gun is lubricated.
I have never heard of an issue with the Glock performance trigger not resetting. Certainly it’s possible, but I’ve just not experienced it.
I believe regular maintenance , especially lubrication is important with any firearm and use that as my standard.

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  8 місяців тому +1

Thank you for the question. There’s not as much of a wall as you get with a standard clock trigger. It’s more of a roll through than a take up and a break. That being said, the trigger brakes further forward, and the trigger pull itself is much lighter. I know some people don’t like that and prefer heavier triggers, but for people who are trained and experience and know how to keep their finger off the trigger until they made a decision to shoot, this is really a nice option.

I bought 2 of them. One I put in my G19 MOS and the other one in my G26 MOS and I also think it's much better than the stock trigger. With holosun red dots on both guns I'm able to be more accurate at 25 yds and my rapid fire shots at 10 yds are tighter groups. I think it's also not too light of a trigger for carry. Long term durability will likely be good because the parts appear to be robust. As with anything on Glocks it's super easy to install yourself.

I too have had many Glocks over the years and it wasn't until I hit my 50's I decided to give it a try. The first thing that worried me about the Glock Performance Trigger is the instructions mentioned a Glock professional must install this piece. Well....what the heck?! It also came with a rubber band and zero instructions on how to handle this rubber band dilemma. I carefully removed the rubber band keeping a strong grip on the whole unit. I carefully dropped it into place and once the pin was secured in the handle, I knew I was good to go! It shoots better than expected and I love knowing its a Glock OEM part, thanks Glock.

My favorite Glock has had a grip reduction which changes the angle of it, placing it much more in line with the natural Griff angle of a 1911 or the Smith & Wesson MNP 9mm handguns .

The trigger travels further after reset. So your demonstration is inaccurate. The reset is longer when actually shooting, comparable to a standard trigger.
Worse yet, many of the common mods to eliminate trigger over-travel are less advisable with this trigger as you could end up with a dead trigger in a bad moment.
