Absolutely Nothing wrong with this man's prayer. I have heard all type of prayers from around the world and as far as a prayer for racing, He nailed it !!
LOVE IT, DON'T EVER LOSE YOUR HUMOR JOE! For those upset, please come to my home town and remind some of the pastors here that drive 6 figure cars, have helicopters to get to their church's and make upwards of 7 figures what church is about. Joe seems like a happy and fun filled guy, the way god made him feel, how can you fault a man for that!
When Cup goes to Nashville in 2021, they should have him come back back and sing this again. Just as a memory! Would be funny, and give all of us nostalgia.
{Our Heavenly Father}.. I Want To Give Thank's For All My Blessing.. Awesome Friends, & Family That Are In My Life.. For A Great Country That I Live In.. {Bless Tenfold Our Service Personal All Over The World}.. Lord, I Wanna Thank You For My Smoking HOT Fiance..!! Boogity Boogity boogity AMEN!
best prayer EVER? that even sounds sacred in my ears... and also he's thanking God for all the technology they have? what a shame for a pastor! BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY!
@JPBuysjr I hate listening to you people say 'I cant wait till this guy stand before god' like you had the right idea your whole life your so much better than everybody, its not faith anymore, its KNOWING FACTS.... have lots of fun do whats right keep your close minded opinions to your self you so called christian
I would have to think that religious conservatives would be more offended than liberals by a preacher thanking God for Sunoco, but to each his own. Speaking personally, I'm Jewish and not terribly religious, but I -like- this guy, and if I ever meet him, I'll buy him a beer.
Christians prepare for the Apocalypse, Mathew 24 says that the Christians will go through the tribulation before the second coming of Yahoshua ha Moshiach (Jesus el Cristo). Read below and study what I say to see for yourselves Spread the message. Mathew 24 says that this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be being preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, then the END shall come. Well, the Gospel is global now isn't it? It's time to wake up and prepare because Novus Ordo Seclorum.
@UndeadRenegade1 No it's not in the Bible but Christians (documented) did believe the Earth was flat and to say otherwise was blasphemy against the church at that time in history. I don't personally believe in god but even I know that, so as a obvious church going person yourself the question becomes.. Why didn't you?
I laugh at this video AND the comments. People stop arguing, I dare say we'll find out when we all die and if someone's right THEN people can have the last laugh. Or not. Y'know, if there is heaven/hell or not. Although reincarnation would be cool but then you might not be able to get to youtube in order to gloat upon you victory if you were, say, a cockroach lol =3
@MrDaAsif Actually, he said it correctly. The name Jesus ends with an 's', so, the apostrophe-s is dropped and replaced just by the apostrophe, which means "Jesus name" is the correct way to say it, however it would look like this: "In Jesus' name, Amen." Lolkay?
@equinox9 boogity boogity boogity no because it's less pointless. The only reason he gave such an odd prayer was so that the audience would have something not boring to look back on.
thats not a priest, just a gag show. Priests arent allowed to get married and they certainly wouldnt talk about their wife like that on tv if they were allowed to have one.
Several dozen young children died of starvation around the world in the time it took him to thank Jesus for a bunch of cars. But at least we got a good song out of it.
@geegeezlouis86 I'm happy to be proven wrong, but in the same way the oxford comma is neither right or wrong, I'd be more inclined to say that this is a subjective topic.
@jbeck66 It means it's obscene to think god looks after people with such fickle matters, yet doesn't lift a finger with all the suffering going on in the world.
Nah, I think it's more-so because of the way corporate marketing infiltrated something as non-corporate as a prayer. This is what my country (United States) does to pretty much everything there is. Nothing is sacred. Also he's rather chunky and obesity is a problem we have on a rather massive scale here. Most citizens here are religious Christians and Nascar is the fastest growing "sport" in the US. I live here and I can admit that this sums us up as a whole pretty damn well. Unfortunately.
Well you can make fuel from perpetual non-food-competitive sources(weeds/algae-->E100) and electricity from very little uranium(25t/2yrs pr.reactor). With fuel research not being too far in, then its just a matter of oil becoming scarse enough to push prices to where alternative grown fuels can usurp the costs of the scarse oil or the vast frozen oil under the seabeds(west of Chile fx), so in reality we can just spend what we can afford and let the competitive markets handle the rest.
What I'm trying to get you to see is, you're not allowed to draw the line for everyone. Ok, let's follow your logic. "It's bad because it wastes a resource and is bad for the environment." Is it wrong for me to go visit my uncle in Tennessee? He's 12 hours away, that uses more gas than they do. Is it wrong to run a factory? They hurt the environment more than NASCAR, but they're needed to make things. They use gas for their trucks. Where exactly is it "mandatory" that we draw the line?
With that logic, the electricity spent making a TV show or movie is wasted as it could be better used than there, same with our own homes, as a hospital using that electricity would be a better use. Entertainment is a valid use of resources, and while I may not watch NASCAR much, there are many who do. Why should they be denied their entertainment of choice, and not deny someone watching a soap opera?
philipians 4:4-7 4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
"Stop taking everything for *granite*?" Is this serious? Before your next comment, in which you insult other people, please check your spelling. Two other suggestions-- read "Mere Christianity," by C.S. Lewis, and learn some humility. I do understand though-- when I was 19, I thought religious people, and Christians in particular, were ridiculous and deluded too. With time and experience, I came to know otherwise.
1) being Jewish myself, I don't see how I'm defending MY Christian dogma. 2) my Thesis for my doctorate was on the history of an alternate Christian line that never joined with the Catholic church. They were not Reformers for the reformers persecuted them, as well as being persecuted by the Catholic church. Look up Waldesians and Anabaptists. Educate yourself and escape the ignorance that the oppressive Roman Catholic church has imposed on you.
You can't be a bible believing/practising "Christian" without the history of the Catholic Church being involved, sorry to bring facts to your dogma party. Your canon was adapted from theirs, the first incarnation by Martin Luther, the father of the Protestant Reformation, noted antisemite and excommunitcated CATHOLIC PRIEST. If you don't even understand how your own religion got to where it is, you just make my points for me really about the evils of ignorant idol worship at public sport.
There's nothing wrong with my keyboard, - it's a cultural thing. I have no respect for anyone who cannot follow the dictates of their own faith - from Matthew: 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Yes, he did actually. By assuming that everyone else watching or attending the race is Christian and wants to give thanks to a deity we don't worship is deeply self centered and ignorant. In addition to that, he did not thank G-d for anything that G-d actually did - only things people did - including himself - by mentioning his wife and children. So how is that truly showing gratitude or a sense of worship - which is what the purpose of prayer is? And finally, I didn't dislike the video.
I'm an Atheist myself but I do believe we all use some of the lessons the Bible taught us since they are so integrated in Western society. But saying Christainity is the least violent religion is just plain bullcrap. What about Buddhism or Hinduism. Those are religions that have been the most peacefull throughout history. Once again I respect your bein Christian but don't be a blindsighted fanboy
I have friends still up in that area as I am from Middle Tennessee. They all say that Pastor Nelms is just a real happy friendly person and that he is known for getting peoples attention through humor. I have also been told the Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, TN. has grown since this aired. There were a couple more from the truck events at NSS but not as impressive as this one
@hauulakid it may not be your idea of fun or fun to watch, just like some people dont like watching golf or people watering plants. different strokes for different folks i suppose. do you have a license or have you ever driven a car? do you understand just how crazy nascar is. your head to head side by side with 42 other cars fighting for inches goin at speeds over 190+. do you understand the difficult of driving and manuevering around wrecks and cars going that fast?? thats nuts. . crazy shit.
How does this give God the glory? Especially when this prayer was over something entertainment? His prayer seemed more like advertising than lifting up the mantle of Christ. If this is how the world sees being "Christian" as some sort of fancy hayride, I must hang my head in shame on behalf of the great line of men and women martyrs that came and bled since Christianity started. They suffered so this kind of activity can take place in His name? Have we no more regard?
@ImCmdrShepard1 i'm not saying i am the judge of that but any spirit born out of America's bible belt is sure to have some links with Christianity, also the events organisers wouldn't have it, if it didn't appeal to there target demographic also i wouldn't call this listening to other peoples religion, he thanked god for his hot wife and kids, i think if anything it was more the religion of NASCAR than Christianity.
@ImCmdrShepard1 secularism only applies to the state NASCAR is a private body, and if a at private albeit televised event they would like a prayer to be said there is no problem, to say , and i'm merely assuming this is your argument, either all or none of the religions should be represented is rather odd and not particularly sensible at what seems to be a majority christian affair.
@tombarr321 God is the source of humour, but not when you make a mockery of his name. Just because somebody says a prayer of thanks doesnt mean it is accepted. God hates idolatry, the first and foremost commandments. Anything that is ahead of God is an idol. Here is the supposed pastor thanking God for all the idols in his like (that includes his wife) that he cares about more than God. Even if his prayer is sarcastic what a pathetic display to everybody who heard his prayer and is not saved.
@icydesign I've lived an entirely secular life, so I suppose it doesn't reveal much when I can't say I've heard many people say "In Jesus name..." I have, however, heard it as "In Jesus's/God's name." But "colloquially correct" still doesn't mean it's correct. It doesn't make me a nutjob to point out that yes, it's improper grammar, to someone insisting that it is. I'm not going to correct someone who says "I'm good", despite it being incorrect, unless they're adamant that it's right. *shrugs*
@AJollyGoodFelon I'm not saying there has to be any kind of religious influence in anything. I just don't understand why when something such as religion is brought up people instantly begin to bash. I don't go bash any other religion, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or lifestyle. We need to stop the hate which is why my original comment stands correct. I'm not fond of people playing the blame game when it's everyone, not just a select few.
@karmadox The Oxford Comma is an interesting case, but I don't see how it's relevant here. The Oxford Comma *is* subjective, certainly (although I'm inclined to dislike it and agree with the Brits), but as I said, it is simply incorrect grammar to type "Jesus'", and even more so to actually say it like that. If you can find me a reputable source that agrees with your initial statement, then I will agree that it is subjective, but I really don't think it is. It makes no sense for it to be.
@rohanwotan2 ...Prosperity happens because our forefathers sowed faithfulness..."One nation under God..." So there can be blessings on humanity even though the earth is cursed. Thanking Him "in trials" simply means "as we encounter them..." Have you never heard the verse, "ye, tho I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil...?" Same thing. By the way, I apologize for calling you an idiot. Not cool. Yeah...the whole..."pearls before swine" thing is very applicable here.
I mean..... I think that we need to approach God with all due reverence as we address the animator and binder of the Universe...We enter the throne room of Grace and bow our heads to the King of Kings, who allows us into His divine presence. We should always pray like we're talking to GOD.... but.... this makes me smile!
Congratulations for not disliking... This prayer isn't about arrogance, a lot people believe in God. (btw, I think there is something wrong with your keyboard, not being able to type the O in God). I'm an atheist, but at least I have respect for this man, bringing humor in something most people take too seriously.
Yes, let us all thank Jebus for things humans made. What does his wife's appearance have to do with anything - or his kids? This is just another example of why people who are not Christians are not impressed. If you want to pray - go to your house of worship and do so. Stop wasting time putting on a show we aren't interested in.
I can't not hear the song
If all prayers were like this, I would have been praising god decades ago.

@Warriorcats24 Oh no, he's right. The sport itself does. It's fans though, are the best.
If you didn't laugh at this you have no sense of humour.
