Thanks for the review! Had mine roughly a week and it's been great. To get the most out of it, you really need to update to the latest official Miyoo firmware, then OnionOS. More cores to choose from, better PS1 and SNES performance, and more control over screen settings. When updating to the latest official firmware, make sure you use a decent quality USB A style 5v wall adapter, and a good USB A to USB-C cable. I used a standard 5v 1 amp adapter. Should also swap the micro SD for a better quality one before the firmware update. Failure to do these things could result in a bricked Mini.
@@azurestrike6551 I already have that; it's called a 3DS with a R4 card. And then there is also this thing I carry called a cell phone that can also play games.
For 45 or 55 dollars this seems like the perfect solution for my 4 year old. Forget about the Netflix/Hulu/Disney+ trash. This just seems like it should have been the first game boy. Think of our tiny hands trying to hold that brick. This would be endless game play for hours at that age.
Picked up one of these when they first dropped. Ended up grabbing another for my nephew. He loves it. I do personally like the rg280v in this size range a bit better though.
@@jameswagley7387 The screen size is exactly the same as is the Depth. The miyoo is taller and has a smaller width. The 280v is more of a square. I like the shape on the 280v a bit more for the compact emulators.
Just ordered mine, how long did it take? Also any tips if you installed onion/installing more games in the future? I literally have no idea what I’m doing on that end lol I don’t even know how to switch everything on the stock sd to a new one
I just ordered the Antique White Edition Miyoo Mini today! Can't wait to get it. I only had two vertical handhelds in my collection, an RG351V and a Transparent Blue GB Colour. So, I don't mind a 3rd vertical form handheld.
0:32 I was going to disregard this since if I was going to get any of these handhelds, im really looking at the funkey S because of how small it is... However, a rumble motor does interest me. I love rumble.
I picked up a 2DS with Zelda Ocarina of Time preinstalled for $50. Took 15 minutes to get custom firmware and it will emulate all 8 bit games and most 16 bit ones. More importantly, it can natively run GBA and DS games and it's hard to emulate those games otherwise without a touchscreen and duel screen setup. If you can find a 2DS or 3DS, that's my recommendation over these Chinese handhelds.
Can anyone tell me what the music is from at the end of Ron's videos? I'm guessing it's a SNES game but being a Megadrive owner back in the day my knowledge of that system isn't great. Thanks in advance.
The only thing that I take issue with is that it doesn't have any thumbsticks. I know it's small but there are a couple of neat PlayStation games (PS1 era) that would be fun with this little machine. Unfortunately, you can't run Dreamcast games on it either. Even though the systems specs are low it should be strong enough to run early Dreamcast games but not without at least one stick.
bro handle your expectations. this thing is as big as a poker cards deck, putting on thumbsticks with it would just ruin its form factor. just buy a horizontal emulator like anbernic if thumbsticks are your thing. gba, snes, genesis and psx in this small thing is a lot. this thing is a dream come true for retro gamers
It should be good enough to play PlayStation games as well. A dual core 1.2GHz with DDR3 technically should be able to run both Xbox and PS2 games, I would think. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have sticks so that wouldn't work but I wonder...can it handle Saturn games? I'm looking for a mini that can run Saturn games well. Do you know of any that might fit that bill? I'm not really concerned with price as long as it's not too outrageous. I could see throwing a few hundred bucks at it easy for Saturn and PSX games on the go.
Paid 70$ but on Amazon to me it’s worth it for the free returns I’ve had issues w an ambernic console I had and got free replacement with no issues immediately.
Ha I just did the same. Got the Grey one. Shipping is like a week though. Hopefully everything works out for you! I heard you should update the firmware and then the operating system to one called onion. Good luck!
can't find it anywhere for 50 right now. prices all over the net go for around 65, up to even 80 from resellers. good lord. even these are getting scalped.
April update Miyoo-mini / 20220419 original soft. Yoshi Island works 100% without any problems if you use standard game launches. If you are using retroarch there are slight slowdowns. I don't use retroarch also I'm happy: D
Probably the Retroid Pocket 2+. I had pre-ordered one of those, but cancelled because I wanted to see how the dpad and buttons were. Been enjoying the Miyoo Mini on OnionOS, but it's not really meant to compete with something like the RP2+ in terms of processing power.
It might be able to do a lot but... Why is it that after all these years of practice them Chinese can not get it right? How long if will take for them to get it pitch perfect? Maybe for for the very young generation so they can practice. Cool video Ron!👍

Bought myself one of these. Don't regret 1 bit. It's amazing for what it can play for a little mini handheld. It's a Tweaked out BittBoy !!
I have one on the way. (Gonna be awhile from China) great review as always Ron. You keep killing it with the content lately!👍🏻

I also got a new 3ds xl for about 70 bucks I think that's a better deal than this tbh
The only real issue with those is that they’re not pocket sized. You’ve gotta get a case for them or something. This is a cheap pocket gaming device.
