I’m literally just as excited for the Steam Deck as an emulation device as I am for it as intended purpose of a handheld PC. Seeing as how (in theory) it should be able to emulate up to and including WiiU games, plus most 360/PS3 and newer games should be able to run natively on their OS...it’s exciting to think the Steam Deck might be the most capable system in terms of quantity of games is something I’ve dreamed about for, well, ever since the days of the PSP homebrew scene and even before.
With the Steam Deck I just want to know it I will be able to install Windows PC game discs onto it via an external USB DVD drive. Here are the games I'm talking about: -Bookworm: Wordy Wonder Bundle -Scrabble Journey -Scrabble Plus -Wheel Of Fortune Deluxe -Boggle / Upwords / Hangman Word Hunter Collection -The Incredible Machine
You hit the nail on the head. I’m holding out for the Steam Deck too because I’m expecting it to run GC, PS2 and maybe even Wii without too much issue. It’s a killer waiting though. Earliest I’m getting it is “after Q2 2022”

When the Odin comes out you should buy it! If you want an Android Based Handheld that can handle GameCube, PS2, 3DS, and Wii with no tinkering buy that handheld. Also I agree 100% the smartest move is to just wait.
I do appreciate the honesty about what this device is lacking. I have been watching videos to see if there are good options for devices that emulate well and it seems like the best option is an android phone or tablet seeing how they run well with bluetooth capabilities. I will however say the price is comparable to a mini pc, although the reviews I have seen give more credit to phones and tablets when they work well.
Problem with all these emulation systems is the fact they’re using subpar SOC’s. If we get one with a Snapdragon 888 or equivalent then the performance should pretty much eat up most consoles it’s trying to emulate.
Meh, I'm waiting until these retro systems get reliable ps2/GameCube performance at about $100. That's is my max for a device like this because I don't really have a desire to play those games on the go. I don't commute, or ride the bus, and most games past the 16 bit era aren't good for short bursts when your waiting for an appointment or your lunch to arrive. Infact, I am more interested for devices with capabilities of the rg350 to shrink in both size and price. Give me a device about half the size of the 350 with good battery life and support of GBA and 4th Gen (maybe 5th Gen) with save states and my portable needs are meet.
The build quality (buttons etc) seem to be the common issue all around from what I've seen. Hopefully future devices with this chipset have a better build.
Luke warm, for sure. I like that a clam shell protects the screen, but I've always hated how the screen makes them so top heavy. For $250, I'd pass, for now. I mean, I just dropped $400 on the Pocket bundle yesterday...
The ONLY redemption Powkiddy has from here is to brand their future products NotPowKiddy. Otherwise their name is simply unforgiveable and there is no redemption.
As cool and dreamcasty as it looks. It can barely run dreamcast. I may as well fork. Up the Mooney and get dcemu handheld with "real" dreamcast hardware.
I wish the RG552 had the power of this device. This device isn't the prettiest looking device, and I hate the name POW kiddy too! The RG552 is much more sexier and sleek, and has better buttons, but lacks in performance compared to this.
All these handheld feel like windows updates. There a new one every week. You a just 1% better with each one. But you have to buy a new computer in order to get that update. So I will wait another 10 updates and then hope they are were in want them so I can then buy one.
Seems there is a new model of these Chinese emulation systems every week. Whilst they look good. They always feel the same. Rushed and not optimised very well out of the box for there intended purpose. Instead relying on the end user and a comunity of enthusiasts who purchase these to ultimately get them running at there full potential.
tbh. A lot of these devices look neat and fun. but their asking price is always WAY TOO much for what they are. $250 for this that can't run dreamcast emulator as decently as a cheap amazon tablet? I'd rather stick to the amazon tablet. AT least it offers more with emulation and at better speeds. Yeah this device is an all in one device that you don't need external controllers, but imagine having to pay so much for something that is subpar? i've always wanted to get a small little device like this but as always, an amazon fire tablet just does the job way better. Yeah no gamecube / wii stuff. BUt at least i get to play older stuff with a better / bigger screen and enjoy the experience more. At this point you are paying more for the setup / no need to do anything but just play than you are the devices. Hell, a raspberry pi works better than this and you can spend around the same price to make it portable.
its ugly and uncomfortable. but if you use a bluetooth controller, itll allow you to set it on a table or your chest or something and that's when it shines!
It Looks like an msi laptop dreamcast console hybrid. It's hideous and I love it.
14 year old me designed this in paint in early 1995…. Were are my royalties
Ha this comment is the best!
As a huge Nintendo GBA SP & 3/DS clamshell design fan, I’m *ALL* for these design types
love the stand alone console unit reviews! thank you

We definitely need a retro Dreamcast mini that plays the original disks.
So... a Dreamcast?
You NEED to get Black-Seraph's software for the best performance! His Android build increases the performance Tenfold!

You're doing a great job covering these for all of us.
Can someone tell me the name of the last game mr pixel showcase please and thank you
We must go deeper Madlittlepixel.
Yes please go deeper Brian.
@@afistfulofpimples1745 Much deeper.

With so many of these devices, eventually one of them will be good

Nice review Ron!
China is pumping these emulation consoles out like crazy. Hundreds of these things. With only minor changes between them.
Believe it or not. Game pass is a blast and works just fine on my GPD XD + I'm wondering how it is on here?

Just got one from eBay brilliant device
miss your live streams bro! or maybe I literally missed them because of the time difference.
I'm saving up for and waiting for the Steam Deck as well!
Thanks.

I could'nt afford one of these with a high end snapdragon 888 unless you had a payment plan like you do with mobile phones.
Hi MadLiitlePixel great video bro. I would love to see some Ps2 games and Wii games on this bad boy play on the x18s
Never quite it are they
Can it play 3ds games
It's got more "power" but does it got more Kiddy?

I agree that looks like an ergonomic nightmare

Pocket bundle?
@@shadeshiest22 The Analogue Pocket with accessories.
I would like to see this running the new Android PS2 Emulator, AetherSX2. Also, if it can handle PSP God of War, it's powerful.
Can it run aethersx2 ps2 emulator?
Yes it can.

They are a favourite among paedophile gamers.

I always go straight to the price first. Not for me.. Damn ugly tho 🤣😂
Even KiddyPow would be better.

looks like a ripoff of the GPD.
