I write music in PT every day - had no idea you could drag in files using Spot mode. Also the key commands when dragging - Game changer! Excellent video! Keep em coming 👍
Hey Scott, really helpful! As a long time Logic user I'm trying to write all my music in Pro Tools now since that's where the audio ends up before handing off to post. Your videos are gold. Thank you! Liked and subscribed.
Wish workspace had shortcuts for when auditioning massive sample packs. It'd be easy to dig them out later. (i.e: favorite audio without clicking the heart)
Thanks for this video. It took me forever to find the sound base browser. In other versions of PT there was a button in the editing screen that had 3 dots on it where you could open this same browser window but this newer version doesn't show that button
great tutorial. i have a question... is my first time Saving Track Presets...so when i open Workspace browser, to the left of the menu i see Sound Libraries, Volume and current session open ect...and i can select and go in those folder/files and see all the contents except for the Track Presets, i click on it qnd its completly empty. something is not right here because im not able to Save Track Presets even tho i have tracks with different Plugins and settings i want to save so i can work faster recalling track pre set., thats my question as best i can put in to words. summary. I have plugings on tracks im tryng to save the presets but the prests are missing when i click Menu_Track_Save Presets. :)
I've renamed a drive. Now there are two of the same drive in the workspace with different names. Can I delete the index of the old named file without damaging anything?
thanks great video. One question. Is there a way to save a default browser window setting? meaning whenever i open the workspace, I can get right to a folder where all my samples are located. Seems as of now any time i open a workspace i have to dig down to my samples folder which is quite a few layers deep from the volumes folder. thanks
@@scottwolfguitar that would be fantastic! I have a lot of expansion pack samples that are all imported easily into workspace, they just aren’t tagged or organized so it’s kind of hard to go through them.
Oh I don’t think I understood the question. I’m pretty sure you can add your own tags inside the workspace itself? Not much experience with that but I know custom tags are totally a thing.
@@scottwolfguitar oh yeah! I think I know how to tag them myself, It would just be a lot of work for a couple thousand samples 😂 I was hoping workspace could scan and tag files from a hard driven once they are brought in
Hmmm, I bet there is a batch edit function in there somewhere. Or, another option is to use your OS to automate renaming them / adding meta data on the hard drive before you import them?

So glad it was helpful Walter!
Excellent tutorial. You move step-by-step and your conversation is logical and paced perfectly. Kudos.
Thanks David!

How can I load my sound from an external driver into soundbase?

15:52 What does the create catalog from selection do?
My guess is it creates a special user “folder” for a specific set of samples
@@scottwolfguitar that’s what I thought. It doesn’t pop up like Sound Library does
Can you preview samples that are different sample rates in the workspace browser or are they converted to the session sample rate when previewing?

I’ll check!
Not sure, I’m not seeing anything on the forums or anything. Would be a nice feature. Let me know if you have any luck!
Fantastic stuff Scott
Thanks Varun!
Couple years late here!! Is there any way to auto tag samples when you bring them in from an external drive (kind of like ADSR sample manager)
There are a bunch of ways to batch rename clips, I might have a video on that?

Hi Scott, what version of pro tools has soundbase?
Don’t they all? I’m not sure.
I am having serious problems here, because I cannot right click in the Workspace browser and I have absolutely no idea why. Maybe you can help me?
Haha, that beat is hilarious @ 6:54. Definitely sounds like human-generated sounds with crazy sfx applied.
Hi I have a question.. Why I can't record on pro tool audio track.. Its shows that (no record volumes designated).. Can you help me pls?
Did you try googling the error you are seeing? The message boards almost always have someone who experienced something similar.
Are you secretly working on the soundtrack for a Beverly Hills Cop reboot? All these 80's jams are bumpin' man.
Haha! Totally
Thank-you!
You're welcome!
Great content, but at 14:37 you said, "doo-doo" and frankly I'm offended by that kind of potty talk.
Haha!
