I think a lot of folks thought the Corsair was going to make the Andromeda a "none viable" ship when it released. But I think its a great balance. As many folks have said the RSI Andromeda needs a once over badly, its going to have it for sure because we still don't have a toilet in the bathroom. the cut out for it is there but they kinda skipped over it when they knew they would give it another pass.
I completely agree and think these are excellent points! I find both ships compliment one another in the verse and add to the choices players have! Personally, I think the Andromeda is going to get a lot of love once its gold polish pass is complete!
They are for different people, for solo players a Corsair is better, but with 2 or more you get more capability out the Connie with a snub especially in combat: Connie, better multi-person, better cargo Corsair, better solo ship, far... far... far... better jump range... jump fuel ranges was why I melted my Connie (that and the fact that I only really solo and already have a BMM as my multi-crew ship). Even if the range was 1.5x the connie I would have bought it but 4.6 million hydrogen vs only 660K and twice the QT fuel at 6900 vs 3000 was why I bought it. I will say as a Corsair owner if you could only own one ship the Connie is likely a better, do everything a little ship.
Great video as always. Right now, I have to give the edge to Connie, because of the missiles. They are so broken right now and having so many is just that much of an advantage.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed this! And the missile payload really is absurd; having 52 on hand is the definition of overwhelming firepower!
Thank you so much, and congrats on your pickups! I tend to learn towards the Connie more myself as well, but there's just something really fun about flying the Corsair; it just gives you this very gritty, retro-inspired Sci-fi experience!
Used to rent the Connie a lot. I bought the Corsair. Loved my Cutty for years. Corsair is like the Cutty on steroids. Cargo hold is also more flexable to spite being smaller.
As things are now i prefer the Corsair, no contest. IF the Andromeda was updated with modern interior (possibly rooms + mess), finally fix the lower guns pylons, and gave me the option of changing the snub with something else (extra cargo, components, or even a rear turret). Then i'd seriously reconsider it.
If I had to recommend only one ship to pledge to a new player, it would definitely be a Taurus. It's cheap, it's the most cost-efficient ship int he game rn, it's very tanky, has great firepower, tons of missiles, can fit ground vehicles or a snub in the cargo, can be soloed, and it has enough cargo to quickly make aeuc and buy other ships in game. It's basically a better cutlass black that trades mobility and speed for literally everything else. As for the corsair and Andromeda, both ships are similar, but the corsair is probably a bit better for solo. The firepower it has with laser canons or ballistic gatlings is insane for ert. The Andromeda is also good in solo and the higher scu of cargo make quite a difference in terms of income when trading, but the ship is definitely better when playing with friends. So in the end, get a taurus if you want a multi role ship that can do everything well and that can haul cargo efficiently, get a corsair for the extra firepower, and get an Andromeda for the snub, additional mounted turrets and missiles.
I completely agree, the Taurus is one of the best ships in the game; its got defenses, utility and excellent performance! And its arguably the best pickup you can make for the money!
The double amount of Hull HP Symbols the Armor the Connie will have. CIG Said that all Drake Ships will be cheap, cause of the lack of this armor. This could give the Connie the winning edge in the future and the Snub isnt something to overlook, it is hard to hit and if u fit in a Archimedes it has a nice punch vs. Light Fighters
I completely agree, between the durability, maneuverability and snub, the Connie takes the win for me as well! And once armor is introduced, it'll be even more so!
Great vid man! I had both for a while. There is no ship I looked forward to like the Corsair. I only have the Connie now though, the way something handles gets bonus points from me. I've got enough to handle in combat, I don't like fighting my ship too, and I'm just not that good! xD
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed my video! The Corsair is so enticing but the handling always turns me off. But congrats on your pickup, the Connie is such a great multi-role ship that'll serve you well for years to come!
Had a Connie for a while but ended up falling in love with the corsair because it feels like a ship that you can still solo but also have an amazing time with friends. This is because with the current with persistence you can really make it feel like home where every mate has their own room and such. The Connie does fly a bit better, especially in atmosphere. I see the Connie as one of the best overall solo ships. But in terms of fun the corsair tops for me. It's really close, if you are doubting, go for what you want to get out of the game.
I had a Taurus and eventually got the Corsair. I bought the Andromeda for aUEC. The moment I started flying the Corsair, I missed the Taurus (which oddly enough is the most agile of all the Connies). Now, having flown the Andromeda a bit, I'm thinking of melting the Corsair for the Andromeda. But before I do anything rash, I'll wait for flight modes to arrive to the PU. Not doing any ship shuffling until then.
Congrats on your pickups, but I'm sorry the Corsair didn't work out for you. I want to love the ship so much, and do in a lot of ways, but definitely not the handling haha. Although I highly recommend the Andromeda. I flew one for years and enjoyed it even before the reworks; although it's so much better now!
@@ViciDeum I'm actually hoping that one day the Andromeda will have 4xS5 guns. That will be *fun* . Also, I wonder how Corsair's handling will be affected by flight surfaces, with all the wing area it has...
The Connie variants really need another design pass or gold standard. Only the phoenix has a really different design. Each of the other 3 versions should have an equivalent internal design to differentiate them. Cargo, military, exploration and luxury. Right now it feels to much like only the luxury gets a special interior design. They need to update the others and then I feel like that will breathe new life into the platform.
I prefer the Corsair because it is a bit more manoeuverable than the Connie and it has six pilot controlled guns. Lack of hull HP I compensate with upgraded shields and turning up shield power to 100. No power left for lasers but that is fine since I don't have any lasers, I went full ballistics, 4 x ADB5 and 2 x ADB4. ADB4 doesn't have as much ammo as the ADB5 has though, which sucks a bit. In PVP combat in one-on-one Connie vs Corsair, Corsair wins with this configuration. Of course I do not know whether my adversary also has upgraded shields etc. Corsair cargo space can fit a few vehicles like a ROC-DS for mining, or an Ursa Rover.
The Corsair's an awesome ship with a ton of combat capability! Although with the new Connie rework and its updated 4 size 5 guns, it definitely helps close that firepower gap!
I love the Corsair, but if we can put 4 size 5 guns on the Connie I would want that one more. Having the two bottom locked on gimbals sucks so hard. Also I like the turrent placement more on the Connie. Simple top simple bottom perfect for all around stuff if you're in total chill mode. I pick the corsair in stead because you can un-gimble all the stuff. If the connie gets a golden pass I'm sure Ill go back to it.
I have the Andromeda and find I never pass up flying it, even with all my other choices I.e. MSR, Vanguard, Redeemer Ect. However, during fleet week i gave the Corsair a run and with all that forward firepower, it does bring a smile to your face with how quick you can melt ships in bounties when you can get a clean back-to-back pops without needing much maneuvering. But, if you screw up and have to star chasing smaller ships, the Andromeda is a little less painful. Would love to see a revisit to this down to line (god knows when) the Constellations get the gold pass.
Remember handling in space is different than atmo. The Corsair is faster than the andromeda and might handle a hair better in space, actually. In atmo the Connie is better. Corsair does not have triple gimballed size 3 hardpoints.
You seem a little confused about the Corsairs agility. I wonder if you only tried the Corsair when it was first released because it was fixed soon after. The official CIG figures show that the Corsair (slightly) outperforms the Connie on every axis except Pitch-Down. I have also tested both ships at sea-level on Microtech and the Corsair does indeed perform a full loop and a 180 reversal and full roll a few seconds faster in each case. What is more, it does not have as bad an oversteer as the Connie, ie the tendency to keep moving after you have centered the controls. It has one but not as bad as the connies and this makes the Corsair better, not worse, at lining up on targets (and a lot less frustrating!) On the minus side for the Corsair I would add that its engines are very easy to destroy and that sends the ship out of control plus the Connie has a *lot* more missiles. To slightly balance that last point, the Corsair allows the copilot in the remote turret to lock missiles in any direction which can make a big difference. In the combat tests I have seen, they are very close in outcome with the Corsair winning slightly more often though in a bad state and near death itself by the time the Connie is defeated, mostly because of the many missiles, but if there is a crewmember to fly the Merlin then Connie will edge every fight. I do wonder whether putting a Fury in the Corsairs cargo bay would change that though it does take away cargo space ;-) For myself, I would much rather be in a Corsair when we start having long range, long duration missions. It is a ship you can live in and the layout means that you feel very much part of the crew with that mess hall beside the bedrooms and not having crew positions miles away along corridors and ladders as so many ships do which makes you feel isolated. For a crew of 4 the 'feel' cannot be bettered though for a crew of three the 400i is not bad either for similar reasons of compactness. The small touches are nice as well such as downward facing landing lights and floodlights at the back to make operating in 'unofficial' locations so much easier. I also like being able to get on the roof to check the surroundings and that well stocked armoury by the airlock and the ease of loading the wide cargo bay, especially in EVA.
That's what I've been telling poeple about flying the Corsair, fly it like an airplane! Use the quick roll rate to get your direction set up and then pull back on the stick to use pitch-up for the actual change in direction. It's the fastest way to maneuver in the Corsair. Strafing is terrible, with left/right being totally useless and the jury's still out on up/down...
Those are fair points! I did fly the Corsair more at release and have heard a lot of success by flying it more like a plane! But even on my retests though, it just feels noticeably more sluggish by comparison. Although it may be the fact that the Andromeda is already so sluggish, the added disadvantage pushes it over the edge!
i’ve flown and owned both. personally i like the connie. i had the corsair first and loved it. it’s so practical, especially now with the addition of the nursa. imo the 2 additional s4 guns isn’t worth the trade offs. connie can take a snub AND nursa, vs one or the other in the corsair. overall, they both have 2 entrances, can fit most ground vehicles and snubs inside, but the connie feels more like home, plus with the snub pre loaded in you don’t have to make any stops.
The conni having locked weapons i think was a design limitation for the time, absolutely after the gold pass on it they will rebalance it. The snub fighter feels like a "cool idea" but in practice didn't work out too well. The Aquila Variant of the Conni is the best solo ship with it's higher rate of speed, but the inability to move the turret from the bottom to the top makes multicrew unfortunately not viable. I am hoping they cut that cargo bay down on the constellation and put a floor across the middle, and make the cargo bay it's own section below it so they make better use of the space back there. Everything is cramped when it really doesn't need to be.
Yea those lower size 5s just kept clipping so they had to limit them to only the top mounts! But I agree, the snub is definitely more a rule of cool than anything else! And I'm looking forward to a redesign of the Connies; at the very least updating the hab so the Aquilla can have a microwave haha
in my opinion all al the connies series need the widht that the phoenix, that chasis, and use that floor to their respective roles, for example the aquila should have a map table in the back and some more stations for the scanning, all connies should have the living room back in that area and leave the actual only to weapons racks, suit lockers etc etc
Connie missiles are hard to beat but I just like My corsair better. Especially when you slap on 4 s5 gatlings and 2 s4 on the wings. Not practical but satisfying! Corsair is just more polished and updated and honestly, I don't notice much of a difference in handling. It's just a great ship to fly around in. I use it for bunkers mostly. I can park my Ursa in the back and fill its huge armory with a bunch of guns. It just feels like home. I also love how I can take the elevator up to the roof. Sometimes I just sit up there with a sniper rifle at outposts and the crash sights. It really just has everything one needs so it's a great daily driver. Solo or crewed. I had the Connie for a while and my pledge ship is the Taurus. I like it a lot and I'm looking forward to having a head start with it after the wipe. But as soon as I can afford it, I'll probably buy another Corsair. Plus, it comes with free booze!
Congrats on your pickup! And I agree, the polish on the Corsair just can't be beat, especially when compared to a dated design like the Constellations!
These videos don't really take into consideration the bugs these ships have atm. The corsair gets a major torque imbalance if an enemy even looks at it the wrong way. The Corsair's elevator doesn't always like to work (reminiscent of the Cutty's rear door). However, I love that it has a ramp instead of the elevator. I've had the Connie's elevator flip the ship upside down on away missions. Just because of the bugs, I melted my Corsair. If CIG ever gets around to fixing things, I may consider getting it again. It is an awesome ship and I even love that you get roof access with the elevator. Such a cool little addition. But when it comes to CIG doing a Gold pass or rework/update on any ship in the verse, I wouldn't hold your breath. Likely years away. Don't ask me why, I don't have a clue.
That's true! I don't include the current bugs because I don't want to bias the video in the future with the current game's drawbacks, but you raise some excellent points!
@@ViciDeum Fair enough. My personal take on the game is to judge it for what it is now since development and bug fixes seem to go at a crawling pace. Keeps me from getting upset all the time, lol.
I love the Connie but I had to melt it for the Corsair simply because it liked to kill me to much or leave me stranded I miss the extra cargo of the Taurus. I will be giving it another try after they do a rework but so far the Corsair closet has ate me and I had to suicide to get out but at least I've got 2 or three ways to enter and exit it and so far the elevator hasn't bugged out and destroyed itself like my Taurus
Yea the Connie lineup is quite buggy but I love those ships to death and back. Atm though the Corsair is a fantastic alternative, with all the latest ship interior features as well!
Half a point difference, on survivability, for double hull hp and 33% higher hp overall? Absolutely love the corsair interior but the Andromeda is simply more powerful in combat
It was definitely hard to strike a good balance for scoring, especially when you’re comparing small shields against capitals across all ships. For these bigger differences more broadly, I only gave that 0.5 offset! And I agree, the interior and overall design of the Corsair is fantastic!
Tough call... really depends on what you like. The snub barely works so that doesn't factor in. Drake may be newer but that doesn't mean much since the Connie is currently a solid interior design anyway. Both are large ships, multiple turrets, and with good storage. Andromeda is well-known for its missiles, Corsair people love its guns. Some people like the style of the Connie, others like the Drake style. I dunno, really tough choice. I guess the deciding factor for me is the landing/takeoff with Corsair is horrible. Just too many situations where you need to land in difficult terrain and you can't do it because of a stupid rock/plant. Connie wins. I recommend the Phoenix though, it's a beautiful ship!
The Connie is my choice as well! And the whole line was made even better after upgrading to quad size 5! And I agree, the Phoenix is amazing. My only gripes are the price and lack of side airlocks; I use those things for everything!
I prefer the corsair because of the 4 size 5s. You can't get that with a connie - two of the hardpoints are gimbal locked so you're stuck with two size 4s. However, if you could put 4 size 5s guns on a connie I would probably use a taurus for my daily driver and not a corsair. I love the corsair but the connie is *the* star citizen ship imho.
I just love flying the Connie so much more, but those are fair points about the pilot firepower! Ironically, the Connie series was (is?) supposed to have 4 size 5, but they had issues with clipping on the lower pair and had to revert to size 4s to work.
When the connie gets an update and it will have the ability to have S5 on all 4 front hardpoints that will be a huge upgrade. The MFD's are constantly going in and out of focus so I have to adjust my field of view to see all of them. All that being said. I like the performance and the efficiency of the Connie. If I wanted to actually feel like I was in a Space U-boat with a crew doing dastardly deeds. I would choose the Corsair lol. Throw in the Taurus and the extra cargo. . That just puts the nail in the coffin for how great and versatile the Connie ships are. . Man I can't wait for an update with the Connie. But I am glad they have options for people with ships of the same category.
As an owner of both, Corsair has more firepower and looks more "industrial style" which I like. Has more MFD's and it's a good overall ship, yet suffers of a very annoying bug - get a bit hit and you start maneuvering like a bigger brick than you already are. CIG supposed to fix this in 3.19.1 but seems not. Constellation is "old" tech, looks very iconic and has a bit more thricording stats, aka a bit more "agile" but only by a bit. Does not suffer when "major torque imbalance" like Corsair, has less firepower but damn if I will give up on her :D In PvP I'd choose the Corsair tho, full ballistic.
Congrats on your pickup! The Corsair has such a cool, industrial, sci-fi feel its just a joy to fly and live inside! But I agree, hopefully they sort out some of its flight mechanics in the future!
@@ViciDeum totally. I tried the Andromeda and this during IAE and just couldnt get away from how Expanse or pirate style it looked plus being that little bit different. Plus being able to easily do bounties solo but then having friends with it so easily
Okay, 2 big things, 1-Connie does have a mess, its just non fuctional at the moment as it depends on the table coming out of the ground. 2- the Drake needed the rated lower for its durrability, and the Connie needs to be rated higher. In addition to hitpoints, you consistantly have a problem mentioning when a ship has particularly fragile weakpounts, such as the Corsairs main and manuevering thrusters, even after the recent buff. On a related note, you regularly fail to consider armor, which, when physicalized, will have HUGE impacts on these ships durability. Like your last vid with the cutlass, you didnt take into consideration drakes weakpoints like thrusters and complete lack of armor, or their opponents much superior armor. When all is said and done, the Connie will be heavilly armored, and the Corsair will be armorless, which will lead to wild differences in survivability.
Those are fair points! We'll definitely have to see what these ships look like after a gold standard polish pass and the inclusion of proper ship armor in game!
Geez dude. Relax. Also, we don’t know how armor will be. All this said, wings are a weak point, but engines being shot off are more likely on the Connie
@@asog88 Chill man, we're relaxed here. We are just having fun applying constructive criticism to a youtubers video. Dont know why that would make you feel defensive, especially since ViciDeum and i had what felt like a real cool back and forth about it. That being said, yours sounds like the comment of someone who doesnt fly both these ships much. As someone who flies both regularly, what you said does not match up with my experience. I much more regularly have wings and thrusters blown off my Corsair than I do thrusters off my Connie. But hey, maybe we have different experiences for some reason. While we dont "know" what armor will look like, we have plenty of CIG staff comments to make statements about its intended effects on ship combat. I feel pretty dang comfortable with the statements i made holding up under any of the most likely ways it is to be implemented. Thanks for the feedback mate! :) o7
That's a tough question! The Corsair is so beautifully designed, and invites you into a really cool Sci-Fi experience. But I think the Connie just offers more value, and I'd personally use it over the Corsair more often in the verse!
Love the Corsair, but it still has major issues that dont seem balanced. The asymmetry and wings are cool, but as soon as one of them takes damage or breaks off, your dead in space with 90% of your hull intact but your helpless. They said they fixed the maneuvering thrusters but they still dont seem fixed. I have found you have to fly the Corsair like a Tally or Eclipse. Get in and get out as fast as you can. One missile can put you out just like that. Ships that have symmetry like the connie just do better currently for longer engagements, not to mention its got 80k more health than the Corsair. haha sorry, I love the Corsair so much but CIG's balancing is funky sometimes. In my opinion the only thing the Corsair has over the Connie is looks and interior. The firepower is nice if you can hit your targets before you have to GTFO
That tractor beam will certainly come in handy! And I can't wait for their gold standard too, I think it'll draw even more people in to the Connie line!
how does your HUD pop up like this? for me its a list and not as easy to see like yours (edit) i mean the choice menu you get when looking at the doors and such on the ship
Sadly the footage with the text overlaid was taken from a much earlier version of the game! But there is a new in-game setting where it'll show your available actions in the bottom right of the screen; at least wherever you're looking!
I can’t wait for Connie rework. Both for more range, better habitability and finally ffs the mfd fix …. Please! Never was fan but it kinda grow in me. Now it kinda look low poly and rough on the edges…. But it’s great. On the other hand, loved the Corsair but the back door and shape of it make it sluggish on design and I m not a big fan. Performance wise, the Connie bring me more trekky vibe…. But hey…. 400i arrived and I can’t keep my eyes of it. Love it. Shame it lack firepower and scu, That said it’s more a freelancer/spirit/cutlass competitor with upscale shield more than Connie competitor. Remember 600i is real Connie competitor, and it beat it on every points except combat. But I m less fan of 600i except function. Like msr. I need a crusader fuel and handling ship, with 400i design, and msr cargo.
I agree, and can't wait to see what the Constellation series look like after a rework! And that's an interesting point between the 600i and Connie; although I think after the rework, the 600 series will really be in a class of its own!
I tried the Corsair but it beeing less manoeuvrable and lose control so fast i had to go with the Connie, Taurus specially with the old awesome price. And yes it needs a rework ^^
I dont agree with some of your ratings at all but good video. Own and fly both a lot and I favor the Connie as well, the snub puts it over the top for me
Don´t have them in my hangar yet....and I am all though I find both ships attractive, a sucker for Drake ships!!! so I would think that next time I am getting a ship, will be the corsair.....but lets see...things might change..also depending of what happens ingame with wipes.....as i would feel like an idiot, buying ingame one of them and then CIG wipes them the week after.....
@@ViciDeum It's not just the Corsair's maneuverability that's bad, there's also: A massive blind spot Side turrets with needlessly limited firing arcs Maneuvering thrusters that fall apart if an enemy gets within 10km. Its insane EM, IR and cross section signatures that make it very hard to drop missile and torpedo locks. CIG did way too much to counterbalance the pilot firepower, and ended up making it a bad (but amazing looking) ship.
The corsair has a feel of a home away from home. Having a bedroom gives a sense of belonging. The open racks that I am accustomed to having from my time offshore puts the crew at a job at all times feel. The galley in the corsair is nice and gives again a livable feel. However the lighting SUCKS!! Dark and dank is not the way you want your close quarters living. Mold and filth is not a home like feel but a gross one. In the galley you wouldn't be able to even see what you were eating. Yuck. The Andromeda can't seem to fix the small table so you would have to eat off your lap? Though good lighting the ship isn't just dated it's behind on easy fixes and lacks home type of feel.
I agree, the design of the Corsair's interior is incredible, but the lighting really leaves it lacking. Hopefully we can add some lamps in the future haha!
All this video really needs to say for the andromeda is “it’s got a fucking snub fighter on the back!!!” That’s all I need to know 😂😂 Connie is easily my favorite ship in the game. You can’t beat its good looks and it’s FUCKING SNUB FIGHTER!!! Just don’t understand why he forgot the snub fighter in the fun category just to give them a tie when we all know the Corsair is not more fun than the Connie with that sad cargo space and no snub fighter 😂😂
Love these videos and believe you are objective and accurate most times. Just not here. I own both ships and the performance versus in 3.21.1, well it's not even close. Updated flight controls especially in atmosphere for the Corsair nulfiy any adv from the Connie. And test after test after test of these two ships head to head, 1x1 small crew or fully crewed have the Corsair on top in every outcome. It's won ship of the year. This one isn't remotely close.. the Corsair is the clear Winner. In a boxing match this would be a 10 7 round
@@ViciDeum This video just isnt aging well. I'd strongly suggest an update. The gap between these ships is so wide it's laughable. styling and looks are the only potential downside to the Corsair and thats subjective and personal taste. combat, flight performance, cargo, speed it a big win by the Drake ship. The aging of the Connie's are really showing. Even crew amenities. the fridge works, you get an individual bedroom for each crew member. There is an actual table. Come on. you have to update this result. it does not get it right.
The Connie is not better in atmo, that is 100% a myth perpetuated by people who don't know how to fly in atmo. No trying to be a dick, but I'm tired of seeing this completely false claim. You have to roll and pitch up to turn, just like any other ship that has large, flat, aerodynamic surfaces. I'm going to have to make a video about flying the Corsair in atmo, it's ridiculous how many people think the Connie handles better
It does though, I own both, fly both regularly, and the Connie is much easier to fly all around. I like both ships almost equally, to a point where I'm torn on which one I should pledge next.
I own both and I also disagree. Tons of hours logged in and I'm a decent low alt flyer. Tbht both are on the rougher side when it comes to atmosphere. The Connie could get sick though if they actually implement some variable thrust from the verts. Right now it still feels cosmetic. I wanna roll into a turn in a canyon and use those verts to accelerate through turns. Pushing off the mountain side with the front verts so-to-speak. If you were able to burn specific thrusters(i.e. blast the front ones while leaving the back ones off) you could pull of some F-35 levels of maneuvers.
I disagree, although I respect your points. If you need to fly the Corsair with a ton of considerations to counter its worse handling, you're still flying a more sluggish ship. Which isn't to say you can't fly it well, just that the extra effort is a drawback!
They are for different people, for solo players a Corsair is better, but with 2 or more you get more capability out the Connie with a snub especially in combat:
Connie, better multi-person, better cargo
Corsair, better solo ship, far... far... far... better jump range... jump fuel ranges was why I melted my Connie (that and the fact that I only really solo and already have a BMM as my multi-crew ship).
Great video as always!! I own both. However, I lean towards liking the Connie more. But it's nice having the ability to switch up daily drivers.
Congrats on your pickup! And that's an apt analogy, the Corsair really is like a big brother to the Cutty!
I like the Connie. Rooms and a mess provide 0 bonuses outside of looks. It's flavor text. I'd rather have dozens more missiles and better handling.
I think a gold polish pass will add so much needed utility to the Connie's, and turn a lot more people onto these ships!
You can change the snub for more cargo space. Just get a Taurus.
Yep, after 2 days of geeking and comparing, I pledged the Taurus - Best bang for the buck ... especially for wipes.
I totally forgot you can store snub in the cargo space. I'll try that out.
CIG says a lot of things.
a bit late to point out now but the Corsaid has a roof elevator you can use to easier get onto flipped ships from bounties you wanna steal from
I love the rooftop access, it makes it easy to get good vantage points for a number of activities!
I completely agree, for both RP and playing with friends, the Corsair is unmatched; it's just such a fun ship to spend time in!
the corsair have the front guns out of the shield bubble, usually i always loose a pair of weapons in the fights, i hope cig fix this quickly
Yea that is an annoying bug they hopefully fix soon!
Also, I wonder how Corsair's handling will be affected by flight surfaces, with all the wing area it has...
any update on your discoveries?
I haven't flown my Corsair much in this patch.
@@diminios if you happen to test them i would love to hear the feedback
The Connie variants really need another design pass or gold standard. Only the phoenix has a really different design. Each of the other 3 versions should have an equivalent internal design to differentiate them. Cargo, military, exploration and luxury. Right now it feels to much like only the luxury gets a special interior design. They need to update the others and then I feel like that will breathe new life into the platform.
I agree, they definitely need a gold standard polish pass! Atm they leave a lot to be desired as far as their interiors go!
The Connie was originally supposed to have quad size 5 but lost 2 due to clipping. Here’s to hoping it gets them back with the next polish pass!
Congrats on your pickups! Honestly they're both fantastic ships, but I agree, the Andromeda is just a bit more forgiving in the end!
Remember handling in space is different than atmo. The Corsair is faster than the andromeda and might handle a hair better in space, actually. In atmo the Connie is better. Corsair does not have triple gimballed size 3 hardpoints.
That's true, the Corsair is significantly better in-space than atmo; although I find the Andromeda still outperforms it in my experience!
It has one but not as bad as the connies and this makes the Corsair better, not worse, at lining up on targets (and a lot less frustrating!)
On the minus side for the Corsair I would add that its engines are very easy to destroy and that sends the ship out of control plus the Connie has a *lot* more missiles. I do wonder whether putting a Fury in the Corsairs cargo bay would change that though it does take away cargo space ;-)
For myself, I would much rather be in a Corsair when we start having long range, long duration missions.
Connie Taurus pledge for life.
Congrats on your pickup, the Taurus is one of the best buys in my opinion!
@@ViciDeum Avenger Titan became a Cutty Black, became the Taurus. 100% love that ship.
i’ve flown and owned both. personally i like the connie. i had the corsair first and loved it. it’s so practical, especially now with the addition of the nursa.
imo the 2 additional s4 guns isn’t worth the trade offs. connie can take a snub AND nursa, vs one or the other in the corsair. overall, they both have 2 entrances, can fit most ground vehicles and snubs inside, but the connie feels more like home, plus with the snub pre loaded in you don’t have to make any stops.
If they ever increase the health of the thrusters on the corsair, I would say it outshines the constellation with aesthetics alone
I love the Connie's aesthetics.
The Corsair is a beautiful ship, but the worse performance always steers me towards the Connie line!
That sentence doesn't make sense.
While I don't think they all need this, I think they could all do something really cool with the extra space!
According to erkul, the corsair should be more maneuverable than the constellation?
I find that its noticeably more sluggish in atmo, but it may have the slight edge in space!
Corsair got better. At least I had no imbalance in the last time although I had a lot of combat beacons. But I think they nerfed the S5 Lasers a bit.
The connies lift/ cargo hold is my only issue with it. Its quite annoying.
Yea that lift has been trouble for years!
@@ViciDeum Side airlocks? I don't really use them except maybe escaping quickly or doing space walks/missions.
Yeah me too… and rn it’s no big deal, but the cross section of the Corsair is huuuuuge in front or back compare to Connie
I agree, and can't wait till the Connie's get their long-awaited update; fixing the MFDs, getting quad size 5 and updating its hab!
Does not suffer when "major torque imbalance" like Corsair, has less firepower but damn if I will give up on her :D
In PvP I'd choose the Corsair tho, full ballistic.
Congrats on your pickup! The Corsair has such a cool, industrial, sci-fi feel its just a joy to fly and live inside! But I agree, hopefully they sort out some of its flight mechanics in the future!
@@ViciDeum I am sucker for wing folds, love this ship :D
Gone with the style of the corsair. Proper pirate/expanse vibes
It's got the sci fi feel down! Honestly while I like the Andromeda better, it pales in comparison to the Corsair's gold standard!
@@ViciDeum totally. I tried the Andromeda and this during IAE and just couldnt get away from how Expanse or pirate style it looked plus being that little bit different. Plus being able to easily do bounties solo but then having friends with it so easily
I love them both, I'm screwed.
Would you update this doing a Corsair vs Taurus maybe?
Not to mention if you shoot the wing off the Corsair they're fucked. The Connie is just more durable.
@@fwdcnorac8574 exactly.
o7
Conny would be 17% cooler if they'd fix the lower gun mounts.
Quad size 5 guns would be INSANE! Definitely looking forward to its polish pass!
I gear towards hauling so I have the Connie Taurus.
And the Taurus is an absolute beast hauler!
Thoughts on selling my pledged Corsair for an andromeda?
I love the look of the Connie over the Corsair. Agree to disagree.
I agree, they definitely need to balance torque imbalances from lost wings in a way that's fair but not overly detrimental!
For me Corsair better than Andromeda but Taurus better than Corsair
That’s a fair counterpoint; you really can’t beat the Taurus for sheer hauling capacity!
The best pirate ship IMO is the Taurus. I am eagerly looking forward to the Connies being reworked up to gold standard.
That tractor beam will certainly come in handy! And I can't wait for their gold standard too, I think it'll draw even more people in to the Connie line!
My Taurus made me enough in-game money for my Corsair. Can't describe how much I love both.
Unfortunately I’m considering melting my corsair due to major fps drops in the cockpit
That's super frustrating! Hopefully that gets hot fixed soon!
@@ViciDeum Yeah. I might end up melting it for the prospector, since you can buy the corsair in-game now.
how does your HUD pop up like this? for me its a list and not as easy to see like yours (edit) i mean the choice menu you get when looking at the doors and such on the ship
Sadly the footage with the text overlaid was taken from a much earlier version of the game! But there is a new in-game setting where it'll show your available actions in the bottom right of the screen; at least wherever you're looking!
Alright thx man
I can’t wait for Connie rework.
Corsair has size 5 hardpoints not size 4
Apologies, you’re absolutely right!
Constellation Phoenix is my favourite
The Phoenix is one of the coolest ships in game, and with some of the best views!
100% agree. Good Job
I'm glad you liked this! Honestly they're both great ships and hard to go wrong with either!
IMHO both are great ships, but I personally really prefer the aesthetics and pilot accessible firepower of the Corsair.
I love the design and feel of the Corsair, but the Andromeda usually wins out for me in terms of its in-game performance!
I think is better to compare the Corsair to the Aquila because there are both exploration ship. The Andromeda is a combat ship
Well, as much as the Corsair is an "exploration" ship haha
I tried the Corsair but it beeing less manoeuvrable and lose control so fast i had to go with the Connie, Taurus specially with the old awesome price. And yes it needs a rework ^^
The Taurus is fantastic, definitely one of the best value ships in the game! And I agree, the Corsair is just too rough for me to fly as well!
man the corsair is more agile and fast and has more aceleration than the connie, and more top speed corsair overpasses connies in maneuverability
I dont agree with some of your ratings at all but good video. Own and fly both a lot and I favor the Connie as well, the snub puts it over the top for me
To each their own, these are definitely just my opinions! But I’m glad you enjoyed this video! And congrats on both of your pickups!
I wish you the best on your quest for the Corsair! It's hands down one of the coolest designed ships in the game!
@@ViciDeum Got it VD! but its like a whale in Atmo!! LOL, give me a Buzz if U need any crew when ingame! Take care and have a great Weekend! o7
Can you do hrts with a cutty black?
Trick question. Go with the connie taurus instead XD
The best pirate ship IMO is the Taurus. I am eagerly looking forward to the Connies being reworked up to gold standard.
The Taurus is a fantastic ship, and arguably one of the best value buys in the game!
I like the design of the Corsair much more, but the Connie is just a better ship. CIG nerfed the Corsair too much because of the pilot firepower.
I agree, the design of the Corsair is unmatched! But the tradeoffs to maneuverability with that firepower are a little too steep for me too!
@@ViciDeum It's not just the Corsair's maneuverability that's bad, there's also:
A massive blind spot
Side turrets with needlessly limited firing arcs
Maneuvering thrusters that fall apart if an enemy gets within 10km.
Its insane EM, IR and cross section signatures that make it very hard to drop missile and torpedo locks.
CIG did way too much to counterbalance the pilot firepower, and ended up making it a bad (but amazing looking) ship.
It's Connie all day for me! RLTW
I love the Connie and can't wait till I buy mine back; along with the inevitable polish pass!
Other than the glitchy ship in the back I think the Connie’s are a better ship.
it hasn't glitched since 3.17 for me. So I think they fixed it.
They fixed it. Just make sure the mothership is completey still.
@@mjn5016it briefly broke in 3.18 but it’s been fixed for a while now
Yea using that Merlin snub fighter is pretty hit or miss haha!
Cant believe you compared an exploration ship to an actual gun ship
Well they're both gunships, but the Corsair does have a few more hardpoints!
I have a Corsair but the Andromeda is better
The extra maneuverability and durability are what sell it for me!
Power blast.
They do both bring ridiculous pilot firepower!
That's a great point! I honestly don't use the snub that often, but it is a fantastic inclusion and a ton of fun to fly!
Those are fair counterpoints and it seems the Corsair after the recent update comes out ahead in combat performance!
Slick video, nicely done. Too bad Star Citizen is nothing but a ship buying platform.
I’m glad you enjoyed this! And while it definitely leans heavily into ship sales, I still have a wonderful time each chance I get to jump in game!
@@ViciDeum Yes, I am quick to criticize at times but I too love the game when it is working :)
As always, I find the Drake has so much more personality... and I still don't like it.
Drake can be divisive, but I completely agree, the Corsair is the ship designed with a lot more love!
Lmao this video came up because of how much I bitch about the corsair nerf
400i
Fair enough haha
This script sounds like it's written by AI, lol
Sadly I missed the mark with this one a bit, but I appreciate your feedback!
