I love the Taurus but it could use a bit of rework
I remember preaching for people to hop on the Taurus back when it was an easy $150. Literally $40 more than a Cutless-Black lol... It was a gem then, and a gem now. It's the working citizens ship who wants a perfect blend of combat, cargo, and a few things in between. The Corsair fits that bracket as well but, it was never $150. A steal of a ship back then.
I just bought mine back for $150 & 120 month ins today. Yes, it is a great ship for the the money. It really got nerfed at one point, but it's in a pretty good place now. I needed the extra cargo space for the new missions so it was a good time to get it back.
Taurus for murdering/cargo + Zeus ES for exploring. There, two daily drivers.
I really do think the Taurus might be the best ship in the game. It might be the Andromeda over the Taurus for the missiles, but probably not.
Plus you don't fly a Taurus like a fighter ... You just keep some distance and pound your target

@@ParagonFangXen Since when does an Andromeda have point defence turrets or the corsair have more armor than any connie ? Andromeda might have S1 missiles (maybe kill snubs) and a extra turret, at the least 1 snub can fit in the Taurus cargo bay. Anyone can get better components. In single player combat there is not much difference at all.
@@ParagonFangXen That snubby has seen me through stealth missions, and an escape pod when things have gone south. It is a overlooked aspect of the ship, and it comes in handy a lot of times.

I think you didn’t give the tractor beam enough of a chance. I haven’t used it in several months, but during the drug ERT extravaganza a few months back the Taurus was my go-to ship (back then it had enough firepower to actually finish the ERT’s). Remember to put the personal elevator up before using the tractor beam. With the elevator out of the way I think you will be more impressed with the tractor beam. When I am looting a ship on the ground I usually don’t land. Hovering, and repositioning the ship as needed, can give you a real advantage when tractoring loot from a ship which crashed at an awkward angle. Also, don’t sleep on the “unscanable” storage compartment; it’s a great place to put any small boxes which you don’t want on the grid.
The Corsair is definitely my main ship for ERT’s these days, but only because it has the necessary firepower. The Taurus is really an overlooked gem, which makes for a premier daily driver, in my opinion.

Corsair got nerfed
So, Spectrum has just exploded regarding a semi confirm rumor regarding the Corsair going to lose two of it’s main size 5 guns to the co pilot in 3.24.2! I would have found it acceptable they would downgrade the four size 5’s to four size 4’s, for a total of six size 4’s, which is the same as four size 5’s dps wise… but it seems CIG is doing weird things again. RIP the Corsair as we know it…

Well considering the sheer amount of corsairs I see flying around it feels like literally everyone who’s played the game for longer than 30 seconds has one, the Taurus is a close second.
I fly with a perma CS and get a stream of corsairs coming for my bounty. People forget that lots of guns != combat effectiveness.
A fair conclusion to the discussion about both ships ;)
We have the same taste in many things, but my problem is that I really like the Corsair from the outside, but inside I feel claustrophobic and I really don't like the green glowing cockpit. I find the Connis much more pleasant. My favorite, however, is the Aquila. One of the people who was able to test on the Evocati said the Conny's new MFDs look fantastic... I'm excited..^^

That's great news! The first and only ship I bought was the Connie Andromeda six years ago. Back then, I didn't know anything about weapon characteristics and just loved its vibe. I consider myself fortunate that it's still considered a high-tier ship. To hear it's getting much-needed improvements makes me happy. I thought, "How cool would it be to fly this thing with friends."
Additionally, the other month, I considered melting it for one of the newer ships, but my family and friends that regularly play with me were like, "No! We love the Connie. She's ours! Don't sell it!" So we're keeping her. They don't even fly their own ships. Whenever we log in, we take the Connie.
Deadbolt are better than gatlings. And yes the Taurus is better cause I killed two corsairs yesterday. They attecked me first but had M7As so shield gave me the 3 s to escape and come back around.
The Tuarus is a great ship it was one of my first upgrades because the loaner was an Andromeda but I just find RSI a bit boring.. I'm hyped for THE MIRAI gunship/heavy fighter coming out in a few weeks 💯🔥🤫
Will the guns work on it though? The small furys we got, at least for me, the guns/missiles do not work. Guns don't even show up on the hud. I've blown them up, swapped in new guns and missiles, yet they still do nothing.

Love my Taurus. The built in tractor beam is so much faster for loading/unloading than either of the hand held Beams. Pressing Q makes handling the tractor beam easier.
I've been running 2 M7A's and 2 Deadbolts.

Fitting my C8R in the back of my Corsair seals the deal for me
have seen a bunch of people not get the hang of the taurus tractor turret firstly when in turret press Q to switch from VJoy mode to normal mouse control (or set it as prefered control mode for turrets in controls) then the tractor always picks something up to the right of the crosshair so if you adjust for that you can actually precisely pick things out of ships
an additional thing that makes the taurus great is that with the upcomming changes you have your 32 scu tractor with you at all times and something where it comes in handy occasionally is when you loot cargo from ships flipped upside down and you cant get into them you just shoot open the doors and then hover infront of them and stuff the cargo bay full
so yeah taurus has been my main solo ert/vaughn missions ship and i run 4 atrittions on it which are great for it
for corsair which puts me off the most is long time to get out of it/into it in comparison to constellation then the semi cramped look as well as the exterior being asymetrical if it would have the same wings on both sides and a symetrical nose i would probably love it specially considering i dont use missiles that commonly
I have both, the Corsair and the Taurus. I find it harder to kill with the Taurus. But i'm using a Laser loadout and not Ballistics. I also don't think it is easier to load/unload. With the latest patch it can randomly explode if the boxes ramble around to much. A lot easier than any other ship in my mind. It has a decent storage and it is a great looking ship. I use it for ERT's as well but only if my Corsair is unavailable for some reason. The weapon mount positions are hampering the weapon performance as well, if you use gimbal mode. The Corsair nose weapons are a lot closer together and are overall better in gimbal mode, if that is a thing for you.
If you fly them both more often right after another, you'll find a lot more pros and cons for both. That''s why both ships are a good addition to every hangar.
Taurus was my daily for years. I changed to the Corsair for a 2 main reasons:
1 - Ramp instead of lift. Lifts in SC are so buggy, I've lost so much cargo from it just glitching through a lift, even on grid. I've died to lifts crushing me on the way up etc etc.
2 - USABLE cargo space. Stacking off grid you can fit 3x 32SCU in the corsair easily. you can only put 2 in a Taurus.
I still think the Taurus, once it has a gold pass could be back as the best daily driver in the game, but for now it needs some love badly.
I never had problems with loosing cargo on the taurus (if on grid).
But i prefer the Corsair because of the bigger fuel tank, the better firepower and it's easier to stuff cargo inside.
But the Taurus is a close second place. The tractor turrets comes in handy often enough. And you can carry a vehicle and some cargo at the same time and have it ready to use. Not so easy on the Corsair.
I have an in-game Taurus - and I love it. I've bought other Conne's in the past and either upgraded them or melted them. CIG owes all the Connie's a gold update pass. Having said that, I'm getting worried about some of the ships in my fleet will be unmanageable as a solo player. Many sites show the min. crew of most Connie's to be 3. I suppose that is to reflect the pilot, the top gunner, and the bottom tractor beam turrets. I may have to melt my prized Carrack if it's not able to be solo'd from time to time, that, and I have no idea how long CIG will take to fix the cargo door functionality. I've kept it in my hangar hoping it gets finished for years now. Waiting...to see if I need to sell it for credit or on the gray market.
Yeah, reckon every Carrack owner feels the same way, once cargo became physicalised. And I can’t melt or sell mine, won it at a Bar Cit from CIG a few years ago.
Remember also...we are waiting for a Connie rework...the Corsair won't be worked on for years and years so sooner than later the Taurus will be even better. I have a Zeus CL but if i don't dig it then ill use my CCUs to a Taurus. I have a 400i and 600i so don't need a fancy Connie so the Taurus is the one.
In terms of cargo, Corsair can fit mursa 72 SCU and roc at the same time and Taurus can fit mursa, roc and only 24scu exeppt shielded cargo on back. I tested already, all you need is just manage cargo space right to fit everything.

I totally understand why the Corsair is so popular, but personally I would rather fly almost any of the competitors. I have spent a lot of time in my Connie, it was my first larger ship and served me extremely well. The wings on my corsair seem too much of a hindrance, both because they make the profile so large that landing is more dangerous/tedious, and the combination of the weapons being mounted on their tips while the wings are so easy to destroy. Down a wing = both less maneuverable and less firepower.
All that said, I do not like the visibility from the bridge of the Connie. If they took the struts out it would probably be my favorite. (Unlike yourself, I don't mind the large compliment of MFDs - everything is in sight. The complaint I have is really only with the canopy struts.)

You can put 3 32scu containers into Corsair, while tourus can carry just 2 32scu boxes. And this is really important when you do ERT, Vaughn or explore someone's cargo which these ships are the best at
You can actually fit four 32scu in the Taurus without the grid and two more 24 scus to close it up with.
I never liked my Taurus. Now you've convinced me to give it another look!

For pure cargo running? the Taurus beast the Corsair hands down because it can carry so much more than the Corsair can.
If your looking to do other things that may involve combat though, the Corsair will win out despite the Taurus being able to turn better because the Corsair also has its turrets + its forward facing guns.
Though, this is just my opinion, as i said, "Better" is always going to be up to perspective.
I prefer Taurus for ERT/illegal mission running with the extra storage. I use 4 Attritions and set power to 50% weapon and 50% shields and have no trouble killing the ships and surviving.

Now that they put the lower weapons on top of the nacelles and it can run 4x s5 and is more maneuverable and has more hull HP, the connie is better value for the money, being $50 cheaper. I like the style and layout of the Corsair better. At this point the Corsair needs a rebalance, make it as maneuverable as the Connie now. Connie has more than 50% more HP. The Corsair has 2 extra pilot weapons which should offset the higher HP of the connie so both ships should handle the same in space at least. In atmo, shockingly the Corsair should fly better since it has wings which the connie does not have any meaning it is all done through thrusters. Both ships have the same SCM and top speed so only real difference between them now is the Hull HP and the Pilot weapon DPS. With the cost difference the Corsair SHOULD come out slightly ahead of the Connie. Though the Taurus does cost more ingame so who knows really.

i love all the connies ngl. i own a andromedar and a phoenix. i used to have a corsair but its a bit to squishy for my taste. the connies are way tankier.

The Connie has more total HP. But only because of more parts with HP.
But Corsair has more problems with rammings. Loosing a main gun or a wing can happen if you are not careful.

The Taurus has much more Cargo than the Andromeda. 96 vs 174. But don't has a snub fighter. And 6 Scu of Cargo are in the back compartement.

Why ballistic? ut shines better with 4x M7A and if you dont snapp the cargo to the floor the corsair can take 100+ scu cargo.

I think if you're looking for something with good power and cargo ya for sure, but it not the end all #1, with engineering it will be 1/3 as effective and efficient over befor Engineering. I say this bec now in a fight you will have to get up and take care of power/fire and more if something go worng in a fight.. making it harder to solo over befor when it was just a point and shot and not thinking about it. You will almost NEED a 2nd team mamber for both of the ships if you are going to be in havey fights after enginreeing drops. In short how good they are at something and efficint they will be with come down to 2 key point.. What you're doing and how you're doing it. Verses.. over how we use them today. I Think that what everyone need to start thining about more then ever.

Taurus is a better "daily driver" by far; with better handling, more missiles, easier by far to land (none of those obnoxious wings doubling its vertical height), easier to load cargo into (allowing for more cargo, as well as front and rear access) and (eventually enabled) shielded cargo.
Yes, it has fewer turrets, but then the side turrets on the Corsair are not exactly well placed.
And yes, 2 less size 4 pilot controlled weapons.
This makes the Corsair minimally better in combat, and lesser in all other categories.
But the Corsair has a much bigger fuel tank. Could be helpfull when you can fly through Pyro.
For it's price the Taurus is better allrounder. But if you are more into combat the Corsair is a bit better.

HERESY! I love the new Zues, but it can't be "better in every way" when it is literally *half* the ship. Little sister isn't close to the Taurus. Better looking & more complete, absolutely. But it isn't even in he same class.

Weird, on Erkul site Taurus and Corsair have the same Pitch, Yaw and roll values.

Depending on what you like, Taurus is lighter and turns faster. I like Corsair more, but Taurus is cool too. o7
@@infinitespace239 I tested rented Connie Taurus on blokade runner. This ship is a besast, I was able to solo obliterate whole squadrons of NPC ships, ship layout is nice, with fast acces to bridge and multiple airlocks, I like also this huge cargo bay. In other hand cockpit visibility is awful, graphic bugs in interrior and lack of even small item locker is not to great. Maybe I simply rent corsair for 1 day and test him. I love interrior of this ship, especially armory, and cockpit.
Corsair is better if you want to fight.
Taurus if you want an allrounder with focus on Cargo.
Both are good ships. With real money the Taurus is the better deal. With aUEC the Corsair.
@@vonrosphe3098 I'm not sure. Besides firepower, maneuverability is also important in combat, and the Connie is supposedly better at that, but I haven't compared it directly to the Corsair.
@@qutatron Depends what CIG makes. They can easily change speed or maneuverability.
But i don't think that there will be a huge difference with these ships. They will stay to sluggish to really outmaneuver anything smaller or similar to their size.
But the better firepower will stay. And exspecially for Solo players the Corsair is better.
In the end it's just a personal choice. There isn't a clear winner.

I agree but to be honest it is not easy to use compared to a maxlift. You often can't reach all of the crates inside a ship from the turret. You have to use a tractor beam for them, and once you get outside your ship with a maxlift, you won't come back to the turret. Also if you forget to bring the small elevator up, it is a pain to load the crates. And finally it has a really annoying movement inertia that makes it difficult to use.
UPDATE: Corsair nerf, Pilot lost ability to control Its S4 guns, its on Copilot now.

anyway, i do own both and i'm having problems with the Taurus. Ive fit 2x repeaters and 2x deadbolts. When i shoot, it drops my shields completely.

Taurus is not more agile, it's just exactly the same as Corsair.
It is lighter, therefore turns faster. Try it you will see the difference.
You’re comparing max values here. The Connie has quite a bit less inertia, meaning it can change nose direction more quickly and get upto its max deg/s faster than the Corsair, which is incredibly sluggish.

Hey dude, with all due respect I think you have matched the wrong ships. The Drake Corsair is a good all around ship but the Taurus is a specific model for hauling cargo. This match up should be imo, the Corsair vs. Andromeda.
The Andromeda has 9 times the missile damage capability of the Corsair, carries more cargo and has twice the HP. It also has space for a snub fighter that does not encroach on the cargo hold.
I think these stats go some way to help balance out the discussion don’t you think? Nice video and enjoyed it btw but I’d certainly like to see a fair match up.

The reason people like this match up as they are the best two for ERTs and taking the cargo also. The Taurus can handle them fine so why lose cargo to have more firepower that isnt needed?
@@UnRealGoSho Sorry but I don’t see your point but that doesn’t mean you’re wrong in anyway. It’s all subjective. If the point is to compare similar ships and the limit of the Corsair is 72 SCU then why not ‘compare’ to version of the Constellation that has the closest SCU capacity, the Andromeda (96 ish SCU)? If you’re worried about ‘wasting’ SCU space just don’t bring the Corsair into it at all as it loses to any version of the Connie.
... I think the Taurus is the comparison that is most "practical". There is very-little difference between the Andromeda and Taurus that most-players would notice... or can't simply upgrade in componentry.
The head-to-head between the Constellation Series and The Corsair really comes down to price; due to the fact that while similar in performance, the Constellation Series simply can't compare to the Corsair's "fit-and-finish". In this regard: it is the Taurus that demands the proper-look.

As someone who absolutely hates drake ships and the corsair especially i am so excited to see someone finally talking about the Taurus as a competitor

Who? Who claimed the Taurus is better than a Corsair? I prefer claiming the Andromeda is better than the Corsair. The Taurus is very similar to the Corsair in that, it benefits less than any other Connie from upcoming or future systems. It lacks the armor of the rest of the Connie line, lacks the unique snub bay that acts as an amazing force multiplier, may have superior maestrom materials to a Drake ship, but less so compared to the military grade materials used for the rest of the Connie line, its cargo bay line of sight Tractor beam is great, but in conjunction with the missing Snub means you are down half of your non-pilot controlled weapons. I enjoy the Taurus as a solo-mans Connie, but it is the cheapest Connie for alot of reasons, and i dont think it is the best competitor to make comparisons to the Corsair within the Connie line. The two most appropriate models would be the Andromeda for people that enjoy the upgunned nature of the Corsair, or the Aquilla to directly compare one "exploration" ship to another.
I own a Corsair and Taurus. The Taurus flies similarly to the Corsair, less guns with double the cargo for loot, so I could do two medium Blockade Runners solo, with enough space to load Zeta-Prolanide from four Freelancers.
As for which is more fragile. I usually die by ramming during an ERT, so it doesn’t matter if I’m in a Connie or Corsair.
I have both Andromeda and Taurus, I will never get the Corsair.

The connies are an old design. And the corsair a new. That kinda shows ofcourse. But there is still a thing that the connies have. But they need an update on the interiour at least. Would like a modernized version of it. I can tell you for sure the new MFD's look good on the connie.

I traded my Taurus for a Corsair when it came out, and I have no regrets. I love the design and feel of the Corsair, and if I want something with more firepower, well, I have a ship coming out soon that can handle that. Long live the Polaris! lol
PS: Now that I think about it, I guess I still have a Taurus since I also bought all of my 19-year-old little brother's ships on top of my own. Can't wait to fly around in my Zeus-urm, his Zeus. lol
Constellation is Abit too big and heavy for all around ships. I still prefer cutlass over anything

A Corsair have more firepower, hands down.
Max usable crew in a Taurus in a fight: 1x pilot, 1x turret, 2x Fury snubs
Max usable crew in a Andromeda/Phoenix in a fight: 1x pilot, 2x, turret, 1x P52/72 Snub 1-2x Fury
Max usable crew in a Corsair in a fight: 1x pilot, 3x turrets, 4x Fury snubs
If you know what you are doing, Fury snubs can be launched from a moving Corsair, not a moving Taurus
Corsair can carry Storm and Storm AA, Taurus cant
Taurus have a tractor, Corsair does not. This can be really useful.
It may sound as if I hate the Taurus, but I actually like it in the right situations... but the Conny series have those IDIOTIC struts in the middle of the view... and that is the real dealbreaker for me.
The Corsair is simply more versatile in my book
I can launch a fury from a moving Taurus easy. That ugly wing that gets in the way and shot off makes the Corsair completely unusable. And the Taurus tractor beam is the best on any ship

That may have changed in that case. When I tried I always went pop when I tried... to be fair I have done a lot of popping while trying it on the corsair as well.
Yes that huge wing is annoying AF, especially if you are the top gunner, but not as annoying as those struts in the middle of your view... at least not for me.

I don’t think you could design an uglier ship than the Constellations. It doesn’t matter how well it performs, these things are an embarrassment.

Corsair has more cargo than the taurus
just because the corsair can hold 3 32 scu.. does not mean it has more cargo.. infact your wrong about the corsair having more cargo.. it only holds a measly 72 scu. where as the taurus holds 174 scu of cargo. i know this because i own the taurus myself. even the other connies.. andromeda etc. still hold more cargo.. most of the other connies hold 96 scu.. the taurus as i say though holds 174 scu.

@@SniPantsu You mean 100 SCU. For 200 i need a proof. I have a corsair. Around 100 SCU is possible. But i don't think you can fit 200 SCU.

I'm a Taurus owner and I fucking hate the MFDs as they stand and I also hate all of the struts across my screen when flying. If they fixed these things i'd never need another ship.
As it stands, i'm changing to a Zeus when I can.
