  • Digital vs Analog! I tried to match the sound of my Laney Ironheart Studio inside the Line 6 Helix Native plugin. I think I got pretty close with it. Do YOU hear the difference?
This is the Impulse Response I used in this video:
Engl 412 St 1a.wav from Lancaster Audio.

Inside The Helix Native Plugin I used the "Solo Lead OD" Amplifier with the default settings.

pretty close. try applying a little more high cut to that cab and taking the presence down just a bit and it will be even closer I think.

Is buying an IR worth it for metal tones? I like the 4x12 XXL V30 Cabs but wondered if there is any IR out there to improve my sound further?

Yep, Imho the right IRs give you a "bigger" sound with a higher frequency spectrum captured.
Try the Engl 412 ST from Lancaster Audio :)

Give mikko a shot. It’s a vst that can create totally unique IR’s. It’s pricey, but you can get the plugin for free with one speaker with like 6 mic choices. Around $80 for the full plugin which has 8 or 9 speakers, but it’s so worth it cuz you can seriously come up with just about any sound you could imagine! Pretty easy to figure it out too.

What? Did you use good headphones or speakers? There is a pretty noticeable difference in tone! (using adam t5v speakers)

@@BigMetalDaddy1301 hm, I think there is more difference in first part of song. Helix has more bottom end. But when the crazy drums part starts there is unnoticeable difference. I am listening through KZ AS10 iems with Fiio uBTR
