This video was a big help I was ready to trash my 15,000 Btu for this reason my mother board was alil further up then yours but it worked like a dream . I didn't use the gun I just wiggled it until it came apart m thanks again for this video you save me hundreds of dollars.
Yiiiiiiiisssss. Just finished mine. You do not need a soldering iron, just get a pair of pliers and gently pull on the buzzer, the top should come right off. I left the base part with the two wires sticking out and mine still works... silently!! For those wondering why the effort - I use an external plug in thermostat that constantly turns the ac on/off. These are a must if your unit or wall gets direct sun and you want accurate room temps.
I did the same thing and it worked great, much easier. Key thing is to remove the thin metal disc (silver or bronze color) that sits under that plastic top. Without that piece, the component is silent. YAY!
Thank you very much for taking the time to show how to silence that annoyingly loud beep. We performed the surgery on our Sharp AC immediately upon finding your video. Our ears thank you as well!
Thanks so much for this! I can FINALLY sleep well hot nights without the insipid beep waking me. However, there's a far simpler way to disable the beep - no soldering iron, no difficult removal of plastic tabs. Simply, take the entire electronics unit out as you do, then go to the back, locate the round speaker - and -- just pull it off with pliers. Done.
Super helpful. Thank you! After calling Frigidaire and being told there was no way to program the beeper to silent mode, I found your video. And, Carlos Solorzano is right. You don't need a soldering gun. Just gently twist the small black noise maker with needle nose pliers and it will break free from the circuit board.
Just made this modification to my unit. When removing the buzzer from the board a solder sucker really helped with the process. Another issue I noticed with the A/C is whenever it would rain the water would get stuck under the condenser coil in the back of the unit. If the unit was not used then the water would begin to corrode the block of condenser coils. I'm not sure if that's a design flaw or that is how it's intended to work. So I decided to drill three holes right under that area to help the water drain. If you decide to drill the holes make sure not accidentally drill into the coils or you will ruin the unit completely.
Thanks for this video...I have a new Arctic Air 8k btu that has (had) the most annoying and loud beep response to each key press. Internally was same as yours and buzzer came unsoldered and is quiet now...what are manufacturers thinking? we're deaf? :)
If you don't need complete silence, just put a mound of hot glue or super glue into and over the hole of the beeper. I can barely hear mine over the sound of the fan, and there was no need to take off the back plate, and no need to solder.
hey bud loved the video thanks for sharing, however I wasn't looking to stop the beeping, just get the face off the unit to clean the mold off of the styrofoam and vents, but your video was VERY helpful and helped achieve my goal thanks so much, Tim from Tappahannock VA
You are my savior Wimple! Whenever I would wake up in the morning I would set the timer so I would be nice and cool when I got home. Imagine hearing that beeping noise atleast 15 times continuously first thing when you wake up. It drove me absolutely nuts. It also hurt my dogs ears as it was so high pitched. She won't even come into my room anymore. What the heck was the point it making it so obnoxiously loud??
You would think they could just put a volume control on the front of the unit or have a key sequence you could do with the remote to enable/disable the beep
when my kids were small and had many toys with speakers i would fill them with glue and it did wonders for me and i think my children's ears. you would still hear it just not out of control. much easier fix but thanks for the video. i just purchased this ac unit and will figure out if it will need my "glue" treatment. elmers glue that it
YOU DO NOT NEED THE SOLDERING GUN, ALL YOU DO IS GRAB THE SPEAKER WITH A PAIR OF PLIERS, NOSE TIP OR NOT WILL DO THE JOB, IT WILL BREAK EXACTLY AT THE SOLDER JOINT NECK, NOT TO BE AFRAID, THANKS FOR THIS VEDEO...!!! NO MORE ANNOYING SOUND..!!!.
I just did it! Thanks to your "not to be afraid," I just popped it off with a flat head screwdriver. There's cool and quiet in my home! I could have never done it without this video --Thanks!
I just removed the black round plastic cap and the little metal disc came out easily and reinstalled the cap, the board was marked with the word "buzzer".
My Frigidaire keeps turning off automatically and then turns on, I resent the unit and sensor. It cools perfect and is a well maintained unit....please advise
I have an ac conditioner GE and the darn machine keeps beeping with a red lights with green flicking lights where it lights up the whole board of the ac unit. Also it turn off i try turning it on.Will this work if I remove the senor button.
Hey I have a question. My ac won't turn on with out me pressing the reset button. It blows perfectly but I can't turn it on/off or control it at all. also the sleep button beeps really loud and it's being pressed repeatedly on its own. What's causing this issue and how Can I fix it?
hi, wimpleshapers, Is the capacitor for fan motor also on the circuit board? I need to replace mine so I need to know if I can just dissemble like you did.
well mine is constantly beeping and google search says temp sensor, so there is a malfunction reason for the beep (every few seconds), but mine turns on/off with temp so im removing buzzer
my exact ac is tripping my breaker and I added a dedicated outlet and for some reason everytime the compressor kick on or wants to kick on second third time bam trips the breaker..ant suggestions on what it might be..thanks
I am in dyier need of help!!! Thank You for the Humming pervention video, but i'm not an electrician nor air conditioner repair... My major problem, I just turning on the Frigidaire AC. It's making a loud humming noise and no cold air or fan is emmitting. It just makes a humming noise and much louder noise once the condenser turns on, and still no air. I tried holding the reset button for a minute plugged in and not plugged, but still same results. I used this AC only a handful of times. What are your thoughts?....What do you think the problem is? Thank You for your help!!!
The timer on my AC keeps switching on and off constantly and it's driving me insane with the beeping!! It even does it when I turn the unit off, I have to unplug it to make it stop. SOMEONE HELP!!
Yes, in addition to a loud compressor, can I please get an annoying BEEP BEEP that my wife just LOVES to hear, especially at 2 a.m.? 30 years ago we had knobs on the front. You could change the settings at night without a sound or turning on the light. Today, we have knobs designing the damn things! Do these people ever use their own products? Its better technology but a worse product. Thank you for the solution. Yep, just wiggle the buzzer with pliers until the top comes off. That's what she said.
All that I did was access the pizzo buzzer and pop the little round plastic cover off of it, gently, there is a small metal disc under the cap that falls off with the cap, this disc makes contact for the buzzer, remove the disc snap the plastic cover back on and your done, if its under warranty just tell them it never beeped. tools required a phillips screw driver and a small flat screw driver to pop the cover off, I used a pair of scissors to get under both sides of the plastic cap and popped it off, skill level, none.
anybody know what makes the compressor stay on sometimes? I can cut the ac off but it still stays on fan cuts off but you can hear it still humming if I change it to heat it will make a hissing sound like a tire just busted or lots of air being released. only way to cut it off is to unplug it or hit the reset button. cause I can't control the temp it just wants to cool even on fan. what do I have to do to fix this problem been having this problem for years but just now thinking someone on youtube might be able to help thanks for any help
I am buying a 12,000BTU FRIGIDAIRE window air conditioner, and the first thing I will do when I take it out of the box, I will remove the buzzer, because I tried a FRIGIDAIRE window air conditioner that was on display, every time I pressed a button the damn beep was so loud!...imagine changing the temp in the middle of the night! No window A/C should not even have this stupid buzzer!
C'mon it beeps when u press the remote so u know it works without looking! What do u do sit there and just press the remote buttons over and over? It's not that big of a deal!!
The Arctic air is fake it does not work I bought one it shoots out about 6 in and then that's it it is not cool as a commercial shows I was just disappointed in this video and that I was looking to replace electrical cord not get rid of the beeper
Because all the people coming to UA-cam for this are going to have the tools and ability to de-solder circuit boards, right? Brush up on your common sense.
*Great and Easy to instal **Fastly.Cool** Low noisy*

Thank you!!! 6 calls to Sears on how to remove front cover to clean inside with no help.. this video was a HUGE help to disinfect and clean inside..
Yes, I have the FRA125CT1 model and I found this video helpful for how to remove the front cover. However, how did you clean the inside?

I did the same
I don't mind the beeps but thanks for showing how to get the dang front off, mine was full of mold and needed cleaning.
Just made this modification to my unit. When removing the buzzer from the board a solder sucker really helped with the process.

Thank you!!! I just removed the black speaker cap and snipped the little prongs for good measure. Nice and quiet now! Thanks again :)
Still useful if you have a model similar! The screws were in slightly different places, but ripping out that speaker has given me peace, thank you.
Thanks for this video...I have a new Arctic Air 8k btu that has (had) the most annoying and loud beep response to each key press. Internally was same as yours and buzzer came unsoldered and is quiet now...what are manufacturers thinking? we're deaf? :)

Awesome !! you just made my wife extremely happy!!!!! Not too many guys can do that ! 😁
I don't have a soldering iron so Im gonna crush the beeper with a pair of vice grips.
Thanks, Jack!
works!
Thank you so much man. That shit was annoying. It was so loud it would wake people up.
You are my savior Wimple! Whenever I would wake up in the morning I would set the timer so I would be nice and cool when I got home. She won't even come into my room anymore. What the heck was the point it making it so obnoxiously loud??
I plucked the buzzer right out. thank you for the video. same exact unit in vid.
I put a resistor in the circuit so that it still beeps, but MUCH quieter.
Oooh something I'll definitely be looking into. Thanks!
You would think they could just put a volume control on the front of the unit or have a key sequence you could do with the remote to enable/disable the beep
I wonder if you can use small wire cutters and just snip the beeper off the circuit board instead of using the soldering iron?
when my kids were small and had many toys with speakers i would fill them with glue and it did wonders for me and i think my children's ears. you would still hear it just not out of control. much easier fix but thanks for the video. i just purchased this ac unit and will figure out if it will need my "glue" treatment. elmers glue that it

Thank you so much for the upload
Can’t find the tabs. Wish the owner manual was better
I wish I could have seen exactly what you were pulling on. ?
My Frigidaire keeps turning off automatically and then turns on, I resent the unit and sensor. It cools perfect and is a well maintained unit....please advise
were you tapping your head with your left hand while restarting the AC? This is very important
I have an ac conditioner GE and the darn machine keeps beeping with a red lights with green flicking lights where it lights up the whole board of the ac unit. Also it turn off i try turning it on.Will this work if I remove the senor button.
oh shit, i didnt put the screws in my pocket. RIP screws 2016.
No, its behind the board, big silver thing looks like a can. Its a dual Cap for the Herm and Fan
well mine is constantly beeping and google search says temp sensor, so there is a malfunction reason for the beep (every few seconds), but mine turns on/off with temp so im removing buzzer
I have a ge model< will it work, same parts right? That beeping is really loud and annoying.
Anyone know if you can Bypass the thermostat on these air conditioners ? If so how ?
This may be a bit off subject here, but I have 6500 btu. The air compressor is vibrating loud enough to wake me up. Is that normal?
why is it that when you set the ac to 60 degrees Fahrenheit (cool mode), it makes this loud vibration and then it resets itself?
Mine beeps while.running an while off. Any ideas
my exact ac is tripping my breaker and I added a dedicated outlet and for some reason everytime the compressor kick on or wants to kick on second third time bam trips the breaker..ant suggestions on what it might be..thanks
What amp is the breaker?

take the cover off and rotate the fan it may be stuck
while the ac is off and then kick the a.c on once you spin it

I would never own a new window a/c made of 99% styrofoam, but this was useful for my 2005 kenmore
Put a mini split right here
VERY HARD TO FIND ON THAT ISN'T. FRIEDRICH HAS VERY LITTLE.
it's not called a buzzer people thats a piezoelectric sounder!

I am buying a 12,000BTU FRIGIDAIRE window air conditioner, and the first thing I will do when I take it out of the box, I will remove the buzzer, because I tried a FRIGIDAIRE window air conditioner that was on display, every time I pressed a button the damn beep was so loud!...imagine changing the temp in the middle of the night! yes
But the beeping masks how freaking loud these things are, I like the beep :)
Seriously? Is this a joke? This will no doubt VOID THE WARRANTY! What the BEEP?
C'mon it beeps when u press the remote so u know it works without looking! What do u do sit there and just press the remote buttons over and over? It's not that big of a deal!!

Ever hear of DE-SOLDER braid?? You might want to brush up on YOUR soldering skills. De-solder the 2 pads, the buzzer will lift right out.
Because all the people coming to UA-cam for this are going to have the tools and ability to de-solder circuit boards, right? Brush up on your common sense.
Hey man thanks for the info I just took my little noise maker out.
