Oh thank god that noise is finally gone! Thank you so much for making this. My dehumidifier fills up in the middle of the night and beeps every 5 minutes. I salute you!
You are a courageous soldier in the fight against unnecessary beeps. I applaud you and I will follow in your footsteps. Thank you for your leadership. (the tone may be off-key, but I mean it)
This lady is a hero. Why does EVERYTHING HAVE TO BEEEEEEP. I remember when flip phones beeped without end to remind you when you had a text waiting. So glad they stopped that nonsense.
Lauren you are a hero, thank you! I have the exact same dehumidifier, also been waking me up at 4 am, I thought there must be a way to disable it, Google showed me your video as the top answer to my question, and hallelujah! I'm not going to be woken up at 4 tonight in this humid summer weather. THANK YOU!!!!
Oh gosh thank you for this! Our dehumidifier looks entirely different inside, but once I got to the circuit board you showed me exactly what to remove! The full alarm really did startle me before!
Found this video when I set up my new HOMELABS DEHUMIDIFIER at 11 p.m. and was so offended by the beeping I've been scouring the manual and internet for instructions on shutting it off! Thank you for this helpful video and the comfort of knowing my reaction was normal and other people think it justified. I suppose I have to wait until I know for sure whether we're keeping it before dismantling anything, though. 🙃
I was going to just rip the beeper out of the board inside my coffee mug warmer, but was worried it might be in series and throw off the electronics. I didn't know you could twist off the cover off the beeper and remove the metal disc 'till I saw your vid. I did it and now it's silent!!- thanks to you, awesome!!
Thanks for making this video. My two GE dehumidifiers from Home Depot beep 20 times when tank is full! Inspired by your video I disassembled until I found circuit boards with similar beeper and popped off cap like you did. Success! First one took 1.5 hours because plastic parts were tricky to remove, but 2nd one only took 15 minutes since I had learned how to pry things apart.
just wanted to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this video! It blows my mind that there's no option to turn this off without having to tear it apart, but SOOOO glad you took the time to make/post this video :-)
Thanks Lauren. Just went in to debeep mine, but can't find how to take a cover off... haha, found 5 screws, but seems I'm missing something. I'll keep looking, but in the end I know where the beeper is. Thanks for that. Edit: 5 screws in the back. 6 screws in the front. 4 screws connecting front to back on top. 2 screws on the box. Thanks again.
Not all heroes wear capes! Was able to use this video to de-beep a wall fan that drove me crazy every time a button was pushed on the remote. Bought it for hot summer nights but hate using it because it beeps extremely loud when I would turn it on in the middle of the night.
Thank you....I just replaced an older basic mechanical model and the beep was driving my dog crazy.... Your model looks almost identical to the "For Living" brand at Canadian Tire stores. The control panel is different but the interior is the same.... Your trick worked perfectly!

Thanks for your help. I have a diffuser and, and this beeping was annoying me, it beeps when it rans out of water, like at 3 a.m and sometimes this nonsense would wake me up. Now the beeping is gone! Thanks!
I have the same dehumidifier and the same Coway air purifier too (had to laugh). I don't appreciate the beeping on appliances either, it's noise pollution. Very useful and humorous video. TY. I found a potentially dangerous problem with my dehumidifier and was trying to see if anyone else has seen it when I found your video. FYI, it is this and you might want to be on the lookout. Initially I was very happy with the machine and like you, I only use the tank and not the drain hose attachment. The water in the tank had been clear but slowly was becoming discolored and the inside of the tank also. As you can imagine, it's nearly impossible to get inside to clean that tank, so I'm falling out of love with the machine. During cleaning I decide to unscrew the cap on the drain outlet and spilling out comes nasty dirty water with greenish brown chunks (like algae) in it. When I tilt the machine backwards, even more comes out, and the inside of the outlet is coated with the slime. The tank is not in, so the water is standing water inside the machine that is slowly contaminating the tank. I wish you could have had a look when yours was disassembled. I looked with a flashlight from the front above where the tank sits and from the back through the fins but couldn't see too much except it looks like there is an area too low to drain into the tank or even completely into the drain outlet. Standing water growing organisms. A recipe for Legionnaire's Disease or Mold Illness IMO. I spray and disinfect in there as best I can. I wonder, if you take off the drain cap, do you get water coming out? If not, maybe I tilted it when moving it and water migrated from the tank into the drain outlet area and eventually putrified, but I think it is actually a design flaw and a health hazard. Maybe I'll summon the courage to actually open the thing up and see what's going on and clean it out properly now that I've seen you do it.
That's so funny that we have the same set of appliances! At some point, I did notice some mold growing in the water collection bucket that was easily removable to dump the collected water. However, I actually put it in my dishwasher which solved the issue (maybe a lower heat cycle so the plastic does not distort; I'm sure this is not recommended by HomeLabs lol). And, I make sure to not let water stand too long in there after it collects. I think having the Coway next to it helps clear the mold particles. I did see water coming out of the tube when I took this apart but did not notice any mold. It sounds like what you are describing is very gross and potentially not good for your air; I would recommend running some diluted bleach through it (in a tub) if you decide to take it apart. Good luck and thanks for the heads up!
@@laurenbean TY. I ran the bucket in the dishwasher and it survived and got cleaned and disinfected. I added borax because it kills mold and I didn't dare use a high-heat sanitizing mode. As for the hose attachment and what's behind it, I sprayed a homemade cleaning solution including borax and some essential oil and I'm confident that the mold is gone for now. Let it run in the tub with the cap off and the water is finally coming out clear. Having had toxic mold illness, I don't take chances. I know bleach is most people's "go too" but it is controvertial in the mold illness community and can make the problem worse. Also bleach is toxic and my goal and channel is all about non-toxic lifestyle. Anyway... all's good. Hello friend don't be panic while recording video. your information is right buzzer is making noise. But you don't know about electronic parts. You broke that buzzer. Ha ha ha.. Buzzer is very important in electronics. In case of any issues in pcb at that time buzzer immediately making sound means something problem or notification. You need to read maintenance manual of dehumidifier... Human's making so many mistakes. But you don't upset keep your channel continue one day you will get millions of subscribers and followers.. Thank you. ASM
From what can be seen here, she is aware of that. Buzzers notify you of silly problems, you shouldn't need them A buzzer is not going to notify you of a fire, or a refrigerant leak, You don't need them. Only blind people or as a feedback for the remote control, nothing else The problem code is displayed and the unit shuts off. The whole point was to destroy the buzzer

Hi All,
What you removed is the PIEZO crystal, the actual component that does the beeping. That's the metal disc, which has a plus and minus connection that touches those two contacts.
It would have been better in the long run, for warranty purposes to place a piece of tape over one of the contacts, so it could be made to work later if need be.

Yeah man, that was the point.
From what can be seen here, she is aware of that.
Buzzers notify you of silly problems, you shouldn't need them
A buzzer is not going to notify you of a fire, or a refrigerant leak,
You don't need them.
Only blind people or as a feedback for the remote control, nothing else
The problem code is displayed and the unit shuts off.
The whole point was to destroy the buzzer
