Here are the install paths for any Mac users:
[Your System Drive]/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
[Your System Drive]/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
These are the leagal standard location for vst/vst3 plugins, that all installers use (as should you, if you're doing a manual install). There is, actually, another location in the "Users" folder. However, in 20 years I've never seen an istaller put anything there, so I think we can ignore that. There are no dll files on the Mac. The files are simply called .vst and .vst3.
Of cause, there is an exeption to every rule. The exception, in this case, are the stock plug-ins that comes with Cubase. These are stored in special files within the "Cubase" package (in the Applications folder). This, unfortunately, makes the inaccessible to any other application, including other Steinberg apps (such as Nuendo and WaveLab).
Perhaps, you'd like to add this information in the videos description.
I just spoke with a Windows using friend of mine. The issue with the stock plug-ins is the same, over there. They're hidden in a large file called "Cubase Plug-In Set.vst3"
Came, watched, started composing. Thanks for the quality video.
Thanks man, I play trumpet. I plug it onto my face and boom. This was really helpful.
Perfect explanation! You've helped me a lot!
Thank you my man. Outside of cubase, roots amped had a terrible latency delay I could not fix. Inside cubase as a vst it works like a charm
Thanks! Where would I be without you today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks a lot ! clear and precise :)
Thanks Carl Pilkington!! Helpt me out alot!👌🙏💖
Thanks a lot for that mate 👍
Very helpful
Thank you very much, very nice explanation!!!✌🙏
This video is very informative, it really saved me.
Nice work bro, keep it up...!
Thanks man, God bless you richly ! ❤
Great video ! ......Just to add to what you said concerning the stripped down versions of Cubase.[Artist, Elements, AI, and LE].... Everything you describe here will apply, including older versions back to Cubase 6. Cubase 5 and earlier had a couple weird wrinkles ..32 bit plugs blacklisted as of Cubase 9 or 9.5 [I think]
yes thanks very helpful!
Great tutorial
Thanks brother
Great, thank you
thank you brother.🤍
Thank you sir!
Thanks a lot man ! :D
Thanks you 🥰🥰
Anyone know where to set the signal path on Mac if wanting to put 3rd party VST’s on external hard drive
Tnks dear
My VST-Plugin Manager does not have a Refresh-button?? I use Cubase AI
thanks for this video. i do have a problem with izotope plug-ins though perhaps i may ask for your help?
Sure. Whats the issue?
@@PoundSound very kind of u 😊 i got cubase 10.5 pro, windows 10 and all the latest izotope stuff, like ozone 9 etc. now, in some cubase project i can load e.g. ozone9 on the master channel, but it’s not active and can’t be removed any more. the izotope guys tried to be helpful but so far we couldn’t solve the issue. i tried to rescan the paths etc. , basically what did in your vid, but still no success. any hints you could give me😊. cheers😊
@@lelcecc4793 have you tried backing up all your settings etc.. for cubase, and doing a fresh install of Cubase? Sounds weird, if the guys at izotope can't solve it I don't think I'd be able to add anything more.
@@PoundSound thx alot😊 that’s actually a very good idea. i will try this way😊👍
is Cubase 11 Pro able to load AU Plugins on Mac or VST plugins only ?
Not yet, its VST only.
👍
In short, 1. unzip 2. click the installer 3. reload plugins in cubase
How to add plugin in cubase 12.
Because my cubase can’t add plugins in it?
What version are you using of Cubase?
sorry but where can i find the zip file? thanks
Your downloads folder, or which ever location you downloaded the zip file to.
why does cubase not support 64 bit VST's in 64 bit windows😭
It does. It supports 32bit VST2, 64bit VST2 and VST3 64bit.
Bro I literally have the exact pathways setup and it still cannot find it I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
What plugins are you trying to get to show in Cubase?
@@PoundSound i found out 👍🙏
There's no link
Links are in the description.
The music is SO LOUD I can’t understand clearly
Sorry, it’s a very old video. Got better video editing since then.. shall do easier one when I get chance.
seriously...you are explaining what a ZIP file is?
Not everyone that watches these videos are computer savvy. So yes. If it helps someone mission accomplished...
Too slow
🐌
I thought you were actually going to show newbies how to do something. This was great for people who already know it. BUT, even at 75% speed some of your clicking here and clicking there and selecting here and selecting there was too distracting. Loosing me! Either teach what is necessary or stick to expert stuff. Geezers
Sorry you feel that way. But this video IS teaching what is necessary and providing you information on how to avoid any issues. Preventing potential frustration when something goes wrong and you can't understand why (because no info was given). Being better informed on a topic allows you waste less time in finding solutions.
I remember the frustration well. The best resource I ever found to get a jump start on unfamiliar Cubase jargon and concepts is a guy called Mathew Lowell Hepworth. You can find his Cubase tutorials at Mac Pro Video. They are not free but if you open an account they often go on sale at about $10/12 bucks each or you can buy a library pass[They'll send an Email notification]. His tutorials are carefully scripted to simplify the complex for newbies and veterans alike and will get you up to speed faster than anything else I know of.The library pass is good for all their tutorials but Hepworth's Cubase are the only ones I found there that have these qualities. I learned more here from Marcus about Native Instruments [for example] than what their other tutors produce. Anyway, cheers and keep at it.
I would feel better if you could accept courteous suggestions for improvement. All and all just slow down!
I do accept suggestions and will compromise If I feel it's a fair criticism that comes up frequently across many videos. Providing it's not sarcastic, childish, passive aggressive or outright abusive (not saying that you were any of these with your suggestion, I'm just generalising). Generally there are times when people forget this is my channel and I make videos how I enjoy making them (up to a certain point). I do my best to keep information to the point, no waffling filler and keep instructions fairly simple. If the overwhelming majority of subscribers (or viewers) shared the same concerns (as you presented) across ALL my videos (and were not happy with how the information is presented) then obviously I'd do something about! I'd be stupid not to!
However, if it's just one individual who's not happy (for any reason) with one video, I'll take it on board, but won't be changing anything based off one individuals experience. It is impossible to please everybody and cater to everyone's individual needs. The good thing about UA-cam is there are plenty of awesome sources of information, presented in many different formats. So if this one video didn't work for you, that's absolutely fine! There'll be another somewhere that will cater to your needs better. At the end of the day this is FREE content. I make videos because I enjoy making them and sharing. If I was selling video courses It would be an entirely different story! The format would MUCH different and I'd spend WAY more time putting videos together. Thing is, videos take a lot of time to make for one person. Quality videos take even more time to make, and time is something viewers assume I have in great quantities. I really don't get much time make videos + do all the other things I do!
