Doing some thinking about curved handles/handle profiles (especially on swords like these: recurves) and I'm realizing that a recurved handle will help with edge alignment quite a bit, especially when you strike the target and the chance of the blade rolling is higher. Having your points of contact on the handle have a wider axis of control gives you way more leverage against the torque of blade rolling. A stacked grip on a straight handle: you can only correct for blade roll with your grip strength (which also incorporates handle friction) Two hands offset on a curved handle: the force of 'blade roll' must be magnitudes greater than your hand spread and grip strength to mess up your edge alignment.
I only recently learned about these swords from your channel, and they are so impressive! Both the supreme cutter and the red baron are gorgeous, and they both seem to perform so incredibly well! The supreme cutter in particular is a very pretty shape to me. I love the combination of the slightly curved single-edged blade with the recurved handle and the wide disc guard; it looks kind of like a combination of multiple different styles of historical swords from all across Asia, and it makes a really unique and beautiful appearance! And of course it performs exceptionally well, seemingly way better than any of the styles of swords that you see aspects of in its design. I also like that Lancelot designed it based on efficacy and usefulness in practical modern defense situations; I don't really see many smiths focusing on that. If I had the disposable income to make such a purchase at the moment, this would definitely be on my shopping list

Love the level of detail here, and the clarity on when you are making subjective judgement. I quite like that Red Baron as a sword style - to me double edge is to me the right choice, especially when you are going in for a slicing weapon, and the blade profile that makes it an effective cutter in a much wider sweetspot is good - if you are leaning towards being good in the cut you might as well go all in and excel at it. Though for me a stouter more rondel dagger profile thrusting sword seems more useful in the real world - can still slash deep enough to wound the soft target if you need to but will still work against targets too armoured for a slashing focused weapon to really be effective, that or a trusty sledgehammer, which is good for all occasions...

Hey I wanted to ask since you also comment a lot on practicality of fictional weaponry and combat styles, that a lot of analyses not just yours but probably everyone ever who asked these questions forget about one important aspect that might make lot of weird and wacky weapon designs and armor designs make more sense. And that is simply the fact that in 99% of video games (who are the primary source of ridiculous designs) also take place in a world where the average person can take full swing of large axe into the skull 3 times before passing out, and on the second swing drink bottle of magic juice and have all damage cured instantly. This kind of ridiculous resistance could make most guns about as effective as throwing shaving razors on a person because while they do pierce almost anything and completely go through most armor, they only produce small holes in the body which people in lot of these settings could easily scoff off. Similarly it could force people to use more heavy and slower less maneuverable weapons. In real life a person gets poked with blade and are either dead or about to bleed out unless they immediately seal off the wound and flee the fight, in average videogame you get stabbed and slashed and poked 10+ times to die. If people had this much of a endurance, you would probably think they would be more focused on offense and less on defense, swordfights being more about who can damage the other more faster and less about endless deflecting and trying to get a single good shot, like how box isn't about trying to avoid every punch because single punch isn't lethal.
The Super Assassin Katana by Dan Keffeler is by far the most impressive cutting sword I've seen in a video, at least against harder targets like trees. I'm curious how it'd compared to these blades from Lancelot. I'd guess it'd be worse against softer targets but better against harder ones, & more durable. It also cost $7,400 USD in 2014, so that's extremely pricey.
@@LancelotChan I don't know what possessed Keffeler to create the Super Assassin Katana & film chopping down a bunch of small trees with it, but it's quite impressive regardless. Definitely not the most practical option for fighting humans.

When did dryads and ents become your enemy? :D
@@LancelotChan I don't know what possessed Keffeler to create the Super Assassin Katana & film chopping down a bunch of small trees with it, but it's quite impressive regardless. Definitely not the most practical option for fighting humans.
Did that shadow just move, must have been the wind.
Glad to know they work for all skin colors
Well, none of them could end oppenent rightly😂😂😂
"They be slicey as fu !!!" 😂
Imperial units aren't less precise, but they are harder to do math with.
Supreme cutter much better than katana ☄️🔥🗡️👺♥️🐉🔥🔥♦️
hey skall do you think you could Review warhammer 40k's Power weapons, particularly the Power sword & the Power Axe?
Are these the worlds most crispy fries
Red baron just flies higher
Doing my part for the algo! :)
Looks super nice. Maybe the guard looks like it could use some lightening
It contributes to protective factors as well as weight distribution. You want your guard to crumble when receiving a strike and mess with the sword balance, be my guest.
@@LancelotChan it's way too much material.
@@ThomasRonnberg LOL. You saw guard getting broke or bent by a strike before? How about a polearm strike? My swords were designed to fight against polearms wielding invaders.
Anyway. You design your own swords, I design mine.
@@ThomasRonnberg You are right.
Skall!!! Condor knife and tool came out with a navel cutlass I purchased it and I fell in love with it but I would love to see you review it ps the only problem I have with the sword is the handle, it's very large and blocky
I wanna see an indistructible sword if it exist.. 😂
Or maybe try a beam sabers. Some youtuber have made that 😅
Only for algorithm, the red Baron looks like a beisbol bat for me
Hey skall! I’d love your thoughts on how different weapons would pair with different bending styles from avatar
Somebody please say what is the name of that 'black curved cleaver ' at the left lower corner of his wall of weapons
Im the lower right corner? Zombie Tools Reaver I think or some other Zombie Tools weapon.
Sorry for the off-topic comment, but that ribcage shirt is rad; any chance you could let me know where to get it?
Would a pole axe or halberd exceed the Red Baron performance in terms of cutting power, thrusting and handling balance?
That's what my dad called a balongna slicer.
