thanks for that - looks like a good place to start out if you want to try wild camping which i do. was actually meant to visit it this summer to do a litter pick but got lost and by the time i arrived at the marina, the ferry was a distant dot pulling in to rams island. oh well, next time. the marina it leaves from is called "Sandy Bat Marina" if anyone is headed there on the back of your video.
Thanks, I' very happy with it. It's not the largest tent but it ticks all the boxes I was after. Sub 2kg, 4 season, solid in wind, very fast pitching, small footprint, free standing.
Watching this again, now I'm really hungry after seeing James' steak sandwich. Anyway, good job, and I really like the music you used, wish I could edit footage this fast. oh and the fluffing up the sleeping bag bit is hilarious lol
@@StephenJReid Thought so, that's were years of experience comes in to play. Where as I just take lots of random footage and cherry pick the best ones.
Looks like such a cool place, and so much nicer once the sun came out too. I'd love to film a virtual run around the island! I know over 1000 years of human settlement sounds like a lot but I drive past a pub on the way to work that was built in something like 750, so it would of been hundreds of years after that before humans started using the island!
Yeah definitely not the best place to be in bad weather! Something to keep in mind that prior to the lowering of the Lough in the mid 19th century the island would have been about a third of its current size. So a tiny place for anyone to live
Looks like a really interesting spot with a lot of history, will have to visit someday. Love the tent, Terra nova is hard to beat, I see the fly sits pretty tight to the ground, the nerd in me wants to ask did you have any issue with condensation!? Thanks for sharing Stephen.
Thanks! It’s my first proper expensive tent and so far v impressed. Hmmm didn’t notice any issues. But wasn’t looking out for problems like that. I had both end vents open all night.
One of the young sons is keen to follow in your footsteps after watching your vlogs, could you recommend a decent mid price laptop for editing? he is 11, thanks
Hmmm good question but I wouldn't really know anything offhand without researching myself. I use a high end 16" MacBook Pro that was over £4k and also a custom built PC that cost around £1200. But I have very high end needs and use these professionally. I think for a mid range laptop for video editing I wouldn't spend any less than around £500 for editing normal 1080p video. If wanting to edit 4k video, you're looking at probably £1000 and above. Hope that helps somewhat
Been there and don’t know if it was the same for you but the place is infested with spiders, really freaky they were all over the tent within 20 minutes of it being put up. 😂
Another really enjoyable video. But I must ask was it a bit odd trying to create content being around a bunch of other content creators? His kit is better than my kit or humm interesting perspective. I guess I am used to watching Stephen in the midst of it. But either way nice job.
Hmmm good question. I don’t really care so much about what kit people are using anymore. But I do find the different approaches interesting. We kept finding each other in similar places as certain things are logical to shoot, like the jetty near sunrise.

That tent is exactly wat I'm looking for. 👌

Thanks David! I partly edit in my head these kinds of videos so the actual edit becomes more of an assembly

Awesome
Lovely spot how do u contact person with boat or does he be there
There’s a Facebook page for the group that manages the island. Contact them through there. Rams Island Heritage Project

Wonderful video, except youve not told us abt its history & the tower etc
I plan to visit this island and get more of the history this time!
This place creeps me out tbh lol
It’s a little strange!
Did get kinda lucky with the weather by the looks of it.
Just about. Although it did rain overnight and a couple of times in the morning, but still got sun

haha, glad it wasn't when I was there! Maybe it was too cold for them, was early in the year
