I found your channel via your thorough and well-researched report on the algal blooms in the Irish lake. I stayed to enjoy your beautifully filmed and edited camping trips and helpful gear reviews - which i trust. Please continue making films about what you love, what makes you happy, what concerns you. It's inspiring. You do 'serious' and 'comedic' with aplomb. Thank you.
@StephenJReid That was a first class piece of film making. The mix of parody, film references and self-effacing humour was totally entertaining, but I'm not too surprised that some are unhappy. I look back on those scout and school bushcraft camps of my youth with a mixture of fondness and horror. One was an unmittegated desaster. Heavy rain all week turned the site into a swamp. There were several injuries requiring hospitalisation, a midge bloodfest, a serious outbreak of D&V, and borderline hypothermia for most of those that managed to the week. The instructors on that one were certainly worthy of mockery, but clearly some take survivalist training far too seriously for that to be acceptable.😁
New subscriber here. I've been binge watching your videos lately and this has been my favorite. Thank you for all the work that you put on your videos - you are so creative. PS: Your "lazy" videos (as you call them) are fun as well, so don't burn out again please we love u
@@StephenJReid Good point! And yes I would like to see more bushcraft content. I love to watch folks carry 30kg for my entertainment. Means I don't have to 😆😉
Very creative and enjoyable solo camping video. I saw you camping with Paul Messner and jumped over to your channel. Very envious of your weather conditions for fall camping. Cheers from Winnipeg!
Hi. I am really enjoying catching up with your videos - thanks. The sat communication thingybob - Zolio - how long does it take to 'connect to the satellites' to send a message? Personally I think these probably work via aircraft rather than satellites as the tiny antenna, very high frequency and very low power would make communication with a satellite hurtling by at 250-350 miles up utterly impossible. It's interesting as the manufacturer states they don't work in certain areas of the world and they are mostly in active conflict zones without regular passenger flights...cheers from sunny Devon.
@@StephenJReid You left him alone and capeless in the woods. He wanderd alone for days, naked and hungry. Then to his surprise he heard a song playing in the distance. Happily he ran towards civilisation. Unfortuately for Wintson that song was Duelling banjos.
Will we see Winston in a future video...? Not that you weren't a good presenter, but Winston had a lot to say and I for one would like to hear more from the good fellow.
I’m going through a range of emotions at this point. Some sadness for Winston and your unfortunate excuse for a chair. A little confusion with your opinion of tasteful decoration And more aptly a little embarrassment with how much I’ve lived this newest addition to your portfolio. Thank you for adding a little needed levity and joy to our days. The only thing missing is the obligatory “Hi Sheep”
@@StephenJReid I thought it was a good idea Stephen I am looking to do a wild camp over here is there anywhere you can camp beside the sea that you no off
Have a look in the area around Dunseverick Castle… walk a mile or so in either direction, see what you find. 😉 I haven’t camped much along the coast. There are no camping signs in quite a few places now thanks to abuse over the last few years ☹️ I always scout and research places on foot first before camping. Spent more time unsuccessfully looking for spots but I think that’s half the fun. Drove 3hours and hiked 1.5hours this week just to recce a spot for a future camp.
Ladies and gentleman I present to you how not to survive in a forest …. Or at least not for a very long. We use the Garmin Inreach, be interested to know how your Satellite Communicator compares. Amazing video as always and great balance between the comedy and interesting points about burnout, pressure and anxiety.
This day in age if you want a big audience for bushcraft then it seems you must wear leggings tight tops and attract that kind of bush crafter who really is not interested in spending any time in the woods
I don't understand, why you are so underrated!! , your videos are such top class.. camping places are awesome..
thank you
Wiiiiiinstooooooon.... !!! 😂
Poor Winston left behind with no cape....
He was born in the forest, I think he will be ok. 😁
Love it, initially thought the name was Churchillian inspired until you were nearly separated. Very clever
Too thin to be Churchill 😂
What a wonderful video. Made me laugh, smile and also got a little emotional, burnout is a terrible thing. This felt soul soothing. ❤
Thanks Chrissy! I just wanted to see if I could make people feel sorry for a mushroom 😂

Fun video. Enjoyed it as I do all your videos. Even Rocky had a montage!!! “Nearly forgot my axe” at the end made me laugh a lot.
😁😁 Thanks!
Love this! 😂 And yes please, more bushcraft and bushcraft adjacent content. Nice to see you enjoying some relaxing time in the woods. Cheers, Amy, NZ
Thanks Amy 🙂 NZ eh! Love to visit there some time, have friends who lived there for a couple of years.
Heart warming stuff! I'm sure we are all in danger of taking ourselves too seriously. Healthy reminder that outdoor stuff should be fun.👍👍👍
Thanks for saying that! I had someone message me to say they stopped watching because I made too many jokes. 🤷♂️

Haha I wish I’d been in the scouts, but wasn’t a group near me.
I appreciate the very last clip! No rubbish left behind.
LNT 🙂
Seriously underated channel. I love your work! ❤️
Bursting out of the tent with a hatchet was my favourite bit, an excellent way to start your morning.
That’s how I wake up every morning
@@StephenJReid a seasoned hatchet man then! 🤣🪓
What a entertaining sunday video! Made me smile throughout the video and probably throughout the day 🤣 Regards from Norway 😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Would love to see some of your wacky humour with Bush craft please :)
I hear ya!
That was gold! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think dead fly on the nature bunting was a lovely homey touch. 😂
Thanks Stephen. 😊
Every house should have a leaf with a dead fly on it. 😁
Great video & concept! Loved that you left nothing behind, not even Winston’s cape 💚🤎
Thanks! Although Winston wasn’t best pleased, but I think he understood.
An excellent job with the bin liners looked impressive...glad Winston dried out...a great camp...many thanks and best wishes
Thanks Andy 🙂
Wee Winston taking an early bath. 😂when you pulled that tree out of the ground. Leave no trace 👌
Thanks Nick!

Clearly a missed “Here’s Johnny!!” moment though!

Just found your channel via The Running Channel. I love it!
thank you! Hope you enjoy the eclectic mix 🤣
Man down , Winston!!!!❤❤❤😂😂
Need to practice my CPR skills
Great video again! Thanks for entertaining us.
love the challenge videos 👌. noooo Winstooooooon 😂😂 legend has it Winston is still waiting for his best friend to return 😂😂
Thanks! I’ll have to head back in a few weeks and see if he’s still there
@@StephenJReid 😎
Stephen if you lived in New York City bin bag tent would be an in demand skill set...... lol
Living in a big city is my nightmare
I'm going to make a video about a bin bag tent, so completely random! Nice to hear you doing better pal.
It’s a surprisingly popular trend in the wild camping/survival niche. 😂 Thanks! 🙂

Thanks Andrew
Fun, alternative video. Wiiiinstaaaaaaaaaan!
Would love to see more bushcraft, maybe a weekend away Joe Robinet style!
I’ll see what I can do! 🙂
This was brilliant. Thank you.
Thanks! 🙂
Lazy Sunday brunch viewing 😅👌
Enjoy!
Looks like a lot of fun
😁😁
Yes loved this 😅
Thanks Bob 😁😁
I appreciate a lot of hard work went into your film and to be fair and honest it’s the best and most fun yet I hope there will be more like this 😉
Thanks Ian!
Can’t believe you left Winstone behind at the end!!!😅
He’s where he belongs, free in the forest 😂
Loved the video as usual Stephen, always great fun watching your videos, and so many laughs, would love to see more busk craft videos
Thanks Nigel!
Now you have left me hoping you will do a claymation “Stephen” doing a bushcraft project… no pressure 😂
Ha! That’s way too much work
"This is your forest now, Winston. Guard it well."
He was still there over 6 months later
You simply the best😁
😁😁 Thanks
Fun fun fun
😁😁😁😁
Beautifully crafted video and great concept. Be honest now, how many mushrooms did you eat?
Haha just half a mushroom and not the kind you’re thinking of 😂
When your chair collapsed Winston was heard to scream “Stepheeeen”
😂 he was no help!
Winston, drowned then tied to a tree…his personal heart of darkness
Still curious about that cream from the beginning. What mystery.
How the hell does this only have 8k views, this man needs to be given more recognition. Like and subscribe
Glad you think so, it totally flopped when I first published it

Anyone walking through that wood is going to think it's the Blair Witch on acid

R.I.P Winston
I like to think Winston has established a forest kingdom ruling over the over pine cones.

This is hilarious. Can't believe it's got less than 400 likes (Sep 2024). Come on, folks!
I was gutted when this video totally flopped
Oh no Winston got left behind 😢
U shud do more videos like this
You built a greenhouse 😂
And a lovely greenhouse it was too
You should’ve done RIP Winston 2023-2023
You should set this challenge to the other youtubers from here to do the same and see who could do the best to the challenge
Actually asked a small group of UK & Ireland UA-camrs to try it and they thought it sounded boring. 🤷♂️
