Great video as always, Glad you felt sorry for the guy and decided to work on it. So many musicians are buying them these days. As for your comment about Epiphones. They have come a long way and a lot of professional musicians play them on tour. Zack Wylde, Joe Bonamassa to name a couple. My Gold top Epiphone I bought from Sweetwater I really enjoy it. I do want to hot rod it up some in the near future, so will be seeing you myself.

Exactly why I have openly rallied against Chibsons for years. Somebody along the line is going to get their heart broken and I hate that passionately. I believe it can make somebody quit playing before they even start when they realize they’ve been duped. We need more guitarists, not less. Maybe I’m crazy, but I despise these things. Masterful job making it playable at least!

#1 rule in economics......Let the buyer beware.......never agreed with that. Probably why I did not do well in college economics classes.

Once one realizes that the guitar is a fake a permanent stamp stating “Fake” should be applied to the back of the headstock…so the guitar doesn’t find its way into someone else’s hands later on down the road. Sorry to see this and there should be a Go fund me page to help Musicians that have fallen pray to this atrocity!!!We are so lucky to have Guitar CPR in our area. Regards!

Unfortunately many buy these things full well knowing what they are getting. Then brag about it.

This is currently at Keylands for sale I do believe. Did you do this work for them on the guitar or did someone else own it at the time?

I have heard of one being there for a while. I can not confirm that it is the same one. There are a couple around the area that I am aware of.
I do not do work for Keyland. I did do this for the owner at the time, which was some time ago. Word up, From what I understand it is a Felony to resell these in the stated due to copyright infringements. The manufactures get around this by selling direct and delivering to buyers' door, completely bypassing customs. Just sayin'

@@guitarc.p.r.9675 well they have it listed as a copy/ and or fake Gibson Slash les Paul. I almost bought the one they have there but didn’t quite make up my mind to purchase it. The two things mentioned in this video, the off shaped headstock and the incorrect lower horn shape are also two things I noticed immediately when it was hanging on the wall there. I guess the hard shell case is supposed to be a legit Gibson case but don’t hold me to that lol but it may be worth purchasing if it’s the same one in this video. Especially after seeing that you’ve went over it and got it to playing condition and replaced the electronics, and also verified the slash Seymour Duncan pickups. Your opinion, once it was plugged in to an amp, how did the guitar sound after you were finished with everything? I’m just curious to get an opinion is all. Also, did this thing have a maple top or just veneer? Or was it just a solid one piece mahogany with binding on it? If you can remember that is, I know the video was posted a year ago and I’m doing good myself to remember 5 minutes ago lol

It was not a great guitar. We were trying to salvage the buyers purchase. The top is a veneer. The case is a real Gibson product the logo on the fake ones is obvious. I had heard that the pricing reflected the possibility of it being a copy. But that was a while ago. I hope it came down. Frankly it should be burned as a fake.

@@guitarc.p.r.9675 well the fact that they’re being honest and telling people it’s a fake is in my opinion not only the right thing to do but it’s also why it’s been for sale for as long as it has. Honestly, at first glance it looks great but as you pointed out, the lower horn isn’t even close to what a real Les Paul is shaped like…. I’m not completely sure but if Memory serves me correctly, I think around $800 is the asking price for it and that’s with the hard shell case. Who ever it was that they purchased it from wasn’t so honest from what I was told and I guess made a decent profit off them upon selling it. They were unaware it wasn’t real until they pulled the cover off for the volume and tone controls and saw the cheap Chinese pots

That is the story I heard as well. A customer of mine wanted me to verify it through photos. It took about 10 sec. for me to prove it was a fake. The red flags I mentioned is obvious to anyone that knows much about guitars.

Actually there are several offenders, and they make fake everything. Sad state of affairs, yet some poeple buy them on purpose, and praise them on line. Welcome aboard and thanks for watching.
