    How To FIGHT With DOUBLE NUNCHUCKS #nunchucks #nunchaku #martialarts ua-cam.com/video/J5UC2OSvSFE/v-deo.html - The Nunchucks or Nunchaku are a 2 sectional staff and serve as the second Kung Fu and Martial Arts weapon I teach to beginning students of the Chinese Martial Arts. In this video we learn the Double Nunchaku or Double Nunchucks! Many of you DM me at my JakeMaceTaiChi Instagram page and want to show me your nunchaku and want me to watch you training with and using your nunchucks. I would say 99% of you are trying to be too fancy with your Nunchuck techniques and need to remember to keep your Martial Arts and Kung Fu weapons training powerful and practical. The nunchaku or nunchucks are a traditional weapon of both the Chinese Martial Arts of Kung Fu and Japanese Martial Arts of Karate and must be practiced daily and respected. Here are a few techniques I'm training today with Double Nunchucks. More tomorrow, HIT THE BELL BUTTON & SUBSCRIBE SO YOU CAN SEE THE FUTURE VIDEOS!

    The bad thing about swinging nunchucks is that there's a big difference in swinging them in the air versus hitting something or someone.. they need to learn also how to follow through after hitting something because it can bounce back and hit you.. You could practice hitting a flat basketball....

    • @Martial-Mat
      @Martial-Mat 6 років тому +5

      Absolutely correct, which is why I strongly recommend against using them for self defence. If I had two pairs like Jake does here, I'd hold the left pair in my hand together and use them like a stick to block with. No way would I try swinging two as weapons.

    • @Thebald1
      @Thebald1 6 років тому +5

      @@Martial-Mat Yep.. you could really be hurting your own self and getting beat more than they would.. especially if you don't learn how to follow through with them.. I learned that fast when I started using them as a kid.. Lol.. my dad actually took a pair from me because I was in his bedroom in front of the mirror swinging them and I hit myself in the back of the head and it was loud.. Big knot on my head.. but when you actually hit something using them, they could come right back at you and most likely hit your elbow or something.. it's definitely not the same as if you were hitting someone with a stick.. and you're right.. I would NEVER use 2 pair swinging wild and crazy

      Who walks around with nunchucks ? In a selfdefence situation you dont have time to get weapons out. People assault you suddenly or they gang up on you ready to attack then you cannot say , Hey wait i have to get my nunchucks first.

      Those fancy juggling tricks he puts down are actually what you need. Juggling is the momentum forwards and back. So you swing and learn to follow through and conserve energy or hit and learn how to tame the recoil. Not a string of fancy moves but a quick wrist roll in the right scenario sets you up for an immediate follow up attack.

    I just found your channel-
    I've never been officially trained with chucks, however have used 'em for reflex & resistance therapy for 44yrs -
    I don't claim any 'master status' at all , but they allow me to focus calmly at fast speeds during intense everyday situations - such as car accidents, being attacked, or someone falling down close to me. - ( a 'hot- second' moment).
    Along with helping me focus while playing fast solos & rhythms on the guitar -
    I have a few clips on utube your welcome to check out under my name in order to find other like minded musicians -
    I'd just like to say thank you for this service -
    Already with only seeing 2 of your videos so far, you've given me ways to improve & expand my technique - thank you & good day sir!

    I’ve been practicing the nunchucks for 25 years. They are my favorite. I have evolved into the fancy shenanigans. It’s more fun, and being able to control the nunchucks anyway I want has always been my goal.

    Mesmerising. I tried escrima many years ago and recognise several of the moves. Similar technique but with a bendy stick! Love that you're keeping this up while globetrotting. You're like a proper medieval master journeyman, plying your trade where ever you happen to be.

    Nice to see you suggesting simple moves for self defence Jake, although I would challenge the advisabilityof nunchaku as a self defence weapon at all, and doubly so with doubles. I suspect 99.99% of your viewers attempting to replicate your techniques under pressure would look like the guys in the Bruce Lee movie where they knock themselves out! You and I are both experienced with these weapons, and I think even WE would be at risk. ;-)

    I actually learned the last one very easily and it only took my second try, I also learned to use every part of my legs to strike from a fake strike, I can use my wrist in the same fashion as both a strike enhancement and a block at the same time. It's better to make safe nunchucks out of plastic Pepsi bottles, shoe laces, with a hole in the middle of the caps and under the caps as you thread them with the laces, tie them in a knot or two.

    Just started Monday with nunchucks for the first time. I ordered - heavy nunchucks with rubber and chains - from Amazon since everything is closed around here. In short, I beat the crap out of my self and almost ended up with a concussion (really). So, I wore my thick jujitsu kimono to make it hurt less. Still, it hurt when I missed and hit my head (I would wear a catchers mask, but I don't have one). I've been watching your beginner video, "How to Fight w/ Nunchucks | Nunchaku". I've pretty much stuck to this video repeatedly because some people are just silly for the camera, and I believe basics well learned, can't be beat. Theatrics are just that. I'd like to ask some technical questions, because you move so damn fast it's hard to see your hands at times. Beautiful technique. I'll be on lockdown for a while here in Miami, FL. Ugh, the epicenter. Florida, aka, Death Valley. Anyway the foam ones I ordered yesterday, to save myself a hospital visit, just don't have the same feel, leverage, or weight. And, since I injured my ankle a few weeks ago in Muay Thai, I can't stand on the balls of my feet quite yet or pivot the ankle, so, I decided on a new discipline: nunchucks. I'm subscribed to FightTips and Andy Souwer's memberships right now - even though I can't use them at the moment. I'd like to subscribe to your online classes but I'm only interested in nunchuck lessons. Do you have any classes in just that? And, do you think I could weigh the foam ones down with anything to make them less Mickey Mouse or do I have to learn through trail by fire with the rubber baseball bats? I'd really like to stay out of the hospitals here. We're down to 1 out of 3 cases as positive...and it hasn't stopped raining here for days, so my bow and arrow practice is out of the question.

Unless you are fighting a bunch of people at a time, which I've been through twice. In a fight like that if you Can't walk away, or Run away. FIGHT with all you can, and then more!! The Nunchucks belong to feudal Japan and have their origins from there. Nunchucks are basically two sticks which are joined together by a metallic chain. They were designed to be used as a fighting weapon but nowadays they are used by martial artists especially in Karate. They come in a variety of designs and types.

      Wood, wood, wood. No doubt at all. Steel are heavy, they tend to break quicker, they hurt a lot more if you hit yourself, and you're probably not strong enough to use them for long practice sessions.

      you have to try all the nunchaku to find what suits you best. Me, I advise to manufacture with a rope and a stick of brooms. It will be light and you will not have a hand injury. If you have very muscular arms, it's better in metal. But the chain makes noise and it can annoy your neighbors.

      Foam nuchucks FTW! I teach nunchucks every week Ahmad. Students are usually confident enough to move to wood chucks after 1-2 years. But even I sometimes hit myself with wooden ones. I suggest that yu NEVER move onto heavy or hexagonal chucks like Jake is using here. Hex chucks are for fighting which you'll never need, and heavy ones are just not practical. Search for round rattan wood.

  • @keesflakes6211

    You said that foam nunchucks where only for kids, but I think there great for people who never used some kind of weapon to start of safe and don't smack themselves in the faces or something when they for example break the movement.

    • @RealKungFu
      @RealKungFu  6 років тому +2

      I have found people learn better and faster if they respect the chucks from day 1. So yes, foam and rubber chucks are for kids

    • @Martial-Mat
      @Martial-Mat 6 років тому

      @@RealKungFu Nonsense Jake. Strongly disagree. If students are so afraid of the weapon that they use it improperly, no amount of listening will overcome that. I expect you think wooden swords are for kids too? Lol. There's a good reason why people use practice weapons.

    • @selfhelp9685

      @@Martial-Mat Problem is the wieght difference. The more you start swinging the oak the more your you will build confidence with them. As with foam there is never anything to fear as well as not being as heavy it's much different. So yeah Jake is right and I know from experience. It's like riding a skateboard. The trick is to start slow and avoid Passover around your head,work your way up to that.
