Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles FOR REAL - Michelangelo - Nunchucks (Nunchaku). I love the teenage mutant ninja turtles also called TMNT! Since I was a kid Michelangelo was my favorite of all the ninja turtles! I even made my own nunchucks and dressed as Michelangelo for halloween as a kid! Now, I practice and teach Chinese Kung Fu full time and the nunchucks, also called nunchaku, are one of my favorite Gong Fu weapons! Karate, Ninja, and Taekwondo also all use the Nunchucks! Get some Nunchakus and practice hard, often, and safely! www.JakeMace.com

Batman's Nightwing, Leonardo and Raphael of the Ninja Turtles fame, Snake-Eyes of the old 80's G.I.Joe cartoons. Those were my inspirations. Before my back gave out.

I was inspired by Michelangelo as well. I have never trained in a dojo, but after watching your videos I decided to go out, and purchase nunchakus of my own. I've been training for a month now, and I love it.

+Kung Fu & Tai Chi Center w/ Jake Mace There were a lot of people in my school beating on this one kid because he had a speech impediment so i started to hang around him and when they tried to beat him up i fought with them i usually lost so i started to take classes and started winning they stopped hitting him and iv done it ever since. he went on to do a bunch of drugs and ended up overdosing.

+Huginn & Muninn Damn. Huginn, that's a really sad story! Sorry that happened to you!
There's a lot of things people don't know about me. One thing most people don't know is that I have a serious stuttering problem. Ever since I was talking as a young kid I've been unable to speak without stuttering pretty badly. My parents ended up getting me involved in speech therapy from about 4th grade until 6th grade. To this day there are about 3 concepts from my speech training I MUST do 100% of the time in order to talk 'normally'. It's just a part of who I am! So, it's a shame your friend got involved in drugs but he was probably a kid just like me so thank you for helping him! :)

A combination of things, being a smaller kid, watching Bruce Lee, Jackie chan and samurai movies... This is why I'm in kendo now as a man. I learned to fight hand to hand already, but the first weapon I ever had was the nunchuck. Now that I have a son, when he gets old enough I want him to have it:)

First I watching people playing Capoeira, at the time I was too busy with college and worked. Then I moved to the USA, well, my son wants to learn Kung so I took him. At the time, I was depressed with health problems. I loved it, I went to my Doctor, he was concerned however he let me go with one condition I couldn't fight. My son was already three months when I started. My life changing I got my muscles tone, my balance e equilibrium was great than before. My Doctor said part of my prescription "Wah Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi." I missed it. Thank you, Jake, for making my dream come true again. God Blessed you and your family.

Very awesome video. I've been practicing wushu for 17 years now. Bruce Lee and Jet Li were my inspiration. It was hard getting started, because there weren't many wushu schools. There's mostly karate, taekwondo, jujitsu, and some others. Luckily a friend introduced me to the only school at the time that taught wushu.

A DIY Karate book. Nice video. When you hit an object like a head or shoulder or dummy your chucks reverse and it is easier to go with it and 'Double Tap' the target than take it back under your arm on the first blow. I can go side of head, other side of head, top of head, chin (or groin) and then back pretty fast for an old man.

Inspired by my neighbor. He was an immigrant from Hong Kong. He taught me Yang style Tai Chi but never told me back then it was a martial art. I left for a long time walked away from the arts. Came back and found Aikido more specifically Aikijitsu. Now I have researched Tai Chi and am now perusing that.

It was Bruce Lee first, but I was also inspired by the Karate Kid, Sidekicks with Ernie Reyes Jr and TMNT. I got my first nunchaku from my neighbor, who had a weapons collection. I carried that thing everywhere and carefully rewatched Bruce Lee films to learn how to use it. I also remember ordering pizza & watching the TMNT cartoon.

  • @marianogonzalezmartin6117
    @marianogonzalezmartin6117 3 роки тому

I was born in 1975. In that dates Bruce Lee films were famous and it began my interest in martial arts. Some years later i saw several films: karate kid (Ralph Machio), american ninja and other ninja films (Sho Kosugi and Michael Dudikof), the first JVD films, all the 3 dragons films (Jackie Chan, Samo Hung, Yuen Biao) and, of course, TMNT... i still have all that films (vhs, dvd and digital). Of course i loved dragon ball too... the first season, the learning times.
I have been practicing martial arts since i was 5 years old (in south Spain there were only a few dojos) and until i was 26 years old (due to job and others i had to stop practicing).
I began with Ninjitsu and karate (once i could met in person Masaaki Hatsumi sensei here, in Spain). Then i began practicing kick boxing, jkd and kali filipino. The i practiced muay thai but still training kali. At 26 i stopped. With 35 years old return to train but policial personal defense and aikido for 3 years and again i stopped. Now i want to return the clasics... Okinawa kobudo, kenjutsu and iaido... we'll see.
I still have my nunchakus, japanese katana, sais, jo, tonfa, several shurikens, kali sticks... most of that weapons are forbiden now in Spain (but not when i was young).

Showing my age, but when I was an early teen, I was super into the Kung Fu TV show with David Carradine. I also read a good book, Judo Boy, by Mike Ball, Jr. (Recently found it again and read it. Holds up pretty good). In college I spent a year studying American Karate System (AKS), but dropped out after the sensei changed locations and I got busy with work and classes. Then 20 years later my kids were taking Sanchin-Ryu, I had a career change that allowed more time, and I started to. Now I'm a black belt. And I play with Kung Fu (maybe a little more intense than play) and Tai Chi.

It made me want to study 日本の武道(にほんのぶどう)Nihon no Budo or Japanese Martial Arts and 日本の文化(にほんのぶんか)Nihon no Bunka or Japanese culture. Thanks for sharing

My aunt sent me a sword & shield set from England while she lived there, a kid's size set. I've been training with wooden and plastic toy weapons as a youth, now I have a variety of things. Awesome video :) Helps with Iron Body to bounce them off the body doesn't it? I only have foam because that's all that's legal in my state.

Love this video! The TMNT's are my Martial arts inspiration also! Made this video 10X more fun seeing how much you enjoyed it, can't find that many real TMNT fans out there who would nerd out/enjoy this as much as I do. I really appreciate your excitement, enthusiasm and encouragement! :D
~Adding Jake Mace to my inspiration list. -Do you happen to know a good place/Channel/Website where I can go to help me with Tessenjitsu/Fan fighting techniques? I Absolutely love the Bo Staff and Nunchaku, but I believe the Tessen is more my style and desire to learn how I might properly use one if I were to buy one. Thanks!

I think the first thing involving martial arts I ever watched was none other then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was also the first I knew of martial arts. I thought it was cool, so I decided to look into it. Started doing it after that, and I loved it ever since. Go Jake Mace! WOOO!

I studied good ol classic Karate and it was all due to the movie, “3 Ninjas” as well as every Bruce Lee movie with “The Chinese Connection (in China)/Fists of Fury (in the USA)” I always found it odd that it was released as two different names in two different countries, but yeah…I guess we can also throw in the live action TMNT movie from the 90’s…”Ahhh, a fellow chucker eh?” Haha those are my top 3 major influences on me wanting to check out martial arts! Recently though, John Wick 4 has an amazing nunchuck sequence where Keanu just rolls through with a pair of chucks making everyone he comes across taste em thoroughly! Haha totally badass

That's so cool to know that's what inspired you !!
My dad's 7th Dan Karate Sensei so I kinda was just kinda born into it. But then TMNT and Bruce Lee just amped it up :) Gosh, even the way I speak and still do was influenced by Mikey and the guys. I still use dude and awesome like, 10 times a day.
The original TMNT animated and movies (Especially the 2nd) for me are the only ones I enjoy. I didn't like the new ones. They made them all gangsta, home boy personalities to "keep with the times"
I don't understand how they would have changed who they are just because the times, music and styles changed. I didn't, and I was like their age when the movies came out. Their core attitudes were surfer slanging, pizza eating, spin kicking, lean green fighting machines. I guess they had to capture the new audience. I actually think tonight I'll have a TMNT move marathon... with some pizza on the side.
