My sincerest "Thank You" for your video. I have been a Flight Simulator Pilot for years, but flying on Light Aircraft. Transitioning to Jets would have been a waste of time, without your most Informative Video. Thank you again, for your dedication to FSX, and helping us less knowledgeable Pilots, get a lot more enjoyment from the Program.
For the first time I can find an airport though I have not mastered the ILS Landing and approach . just does not seem to grab the approach to the runway at 9 miles out. Otherwise very good training and now something to work on more. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing that footage and for taking the time to make it.
Thank you very much, Mr. Cobolman. I have just learnt a great deal from your video and tried it myself successfully. Please keep on the good work by posting such videos regularly
@Liofa Yes - you're right. There is a 250mph speed limit below 10,000' For this video though, I wanted to keep everything as simple, and short, as possible. Hence why I dialed in the higher speed.
Dude your videos are awesome. Simple and easy to understand Got the FSX and first day crashed 747 23 times. Then watched your guide and landed Singapore monsoon mission finally :) 5* rating. Few videos audio indeed is not great but not something that stops me from watching. Thanks for the guides.
Hello dear man! Two introductions have: 1) apologize for the error reporter I do not have English as their mother tongue and I use Google's translation .. 2) I run a virtual aviation school in Israel for about 4 years. To this day, I did not learn neat heavy aircraft flight / jet Because of lack of time and more excuses lol Today for the first time I watched a section after section At the same time I flew, and occasionally peeked your video .. And I was able to take off, fly and land in accordance with your wonderful explanation !! Many people complimented you and I do not have much to add Other than that I agree that all compliment you deserve !! So .. Thanks and thanks again! I hope enriches us virtual flight enthusiasts in these lovely videos!
Thanks for sharing this video. It really opened me up on how to land an airbus. I have no familiarity with these series and am accustomed to flying the Boeings. But video has made things a lot easier. Thanks again for posting!
You started your take off by saying "i don't know the take off speed" I'd suggest you open your knee board (Shift + F10 for me) and click on/through to "reference." That will give you all the information you about the airplane's take off speed, landing, gear etc... You got a great voice for making vids i think. Ow and flaps taking of :-)
Dear, Mrcobolman, after watching few of your video i'm really impressed really love your video well i would say tutorial, the way you fly and same time you explain every individual thing really like it i have many things from your video, specially how to fly airbus please keep your good and do more video for begginers like me, again many thanks.
This technique is perfect for short flights ....I used this technique for a long flight using high altitude airways ...but it doesn't follow the procedure...when told to resume own navigation....I clicked the GPS with the NAV hold switch....However The GPS takes me in 1 direction while the flight route tells me another direction...do u know what's the problem here?
great video! All was good when I did it except I got a sink rate warning at about 500 feet and if I left it in autopilot the plane would land about 50 feet before the runway? Any ideas why? Thanks!
Hi Rob There are so many possible variables, it's hard to say. A sudden sink warning might be caused by severe weather, engine failure, stall on approach etc. If you can reproduce it, I'd be happy to take a look.
Thanks, Lee. I did my Private Pilots Licence but only ever flew single prop aircraft. Not sure I could take the pay cut to be a real pilot though. The amount those guys have to invest in training and then the pittance they earn in the first few years requires total commitment and belief. It's a vocation.
Hi Paul Under those circumstances, we'd use a Non-Precision Approach. This procedure is on my list of 'to-do' videos so why not subscribe and get a notification as soon as it's published?
+Joshua Werfel Do it yourself. You can set TO/GA power with the autopilot, you can have the runway heading dialed in to the heading selector so that you can switch from the approach hold to heading hold, and as you track the ILS down from your intercept you can set a cruise altitude in the alt hold for if you need to go back up. But you're going to be looking at switching the autopilot and autothrottle off as you cross the runway threshold so that you can micro-adjust and flare, so just be prepared to throttle back up, pull back and trim in case you get the go around instruction. As soon as you're climing safely you can re-engage the autopilot and assuming you set it up to prepare for this eventuality you'll just climb safely on the runway heading and you can follow instructions.
When i get close to the airport my heading hold turns off and the plane just keeps going left.at first i thought it was the localizer but the plane never aligns with the runway please help
idk but i think i keep missing the airport but i think i do the same like in the video just from narita japan to haneda japan... i might be doing something wrong idk.
Hi there. Finally made it thanks to your excellent explanation. (Methinks you might be a teacher by profession - yes/no?) Next will try across the pond CYYZ-EGKK in std Airbus. Aerosoft 318/319 won't make it, programme crashes because of terrain.dll. This seems to be well documented and perhaps DTG will eventually sort it out. Would to recommend PFPX for a beginner like me to flight simming or is it overkill?
Hi Richard. Good to hear from you again and congrats on managing the flight. PFPX is a great tool but I'd advise learning the basics of managing a flight before buying a tool. There's a lot of fun to be had in learning the basics. Perhaps start with this video : ua-cam.com/video/Y11WmGlvaIE/v-deo.html before graduating to this one on PFPX : ua-cam.com/video/8N83JPoknYA/v-deo.html
For some reason, the site can be flaky from time to time. It's usually back up again fairly quickly. In fact, I just checked now and it's available again.
MrCobolman Regrettably you cannot register or log on . The site says they have emailed you but nothing arrives. Also trying to email them results in a "bounced" message. May go with PFPX eventually, downloaded very comprehensive guide (NOT aerosofts manual - which is somewhat vague and rather poor English) Meantime currently flying FSX's Airbus cross atlantic on GPS . DTG have released beta update which includes changes to terrain.dll . but now Aerosofts airbus is very slow to respond. Hey ho !
Hi Orlando - Just thought I'd let you know that I have indeed created a video on take-off, auto-pilot, using ILS and landing the default Boeing 747. It's available here: FSX Boeing 747 Std Guide for Take Off, Auto Pilot & Landing
do u know how to turn on the battery on the default airbus a321 when i turn off the engines for a long period of time it turns off everything and i cant turn on the battery or anything
Am i supposed to flare manually or is it automatic? because i got everything to work but then at the last moment i got a -12 degree flare. It was after i switched off my A/P and autothrottle. To switch these off i paused the sim, but accidentially turned APR off, but realised it before i unpaused and turned it back on. Does anyone know about this flare issue?
All or Nothing The flare is always manual. However, the way I teach in the video, you can practically fly it straight on to the ground. Are you reporting a minus 12 degree flare?
MrCobolman yeah, i turned off A/P, must have pushed my joystick forward. I think i see what you mean with flying it onto the runway, tho. Thanks, I'll try it again. :)
+GOAF Pilot There are a few mistakes in this, my first ever UA-cam flight sim video. This is the first time anyone has mentioned a mix up between PFD & MFD so thanks for pointing it out.
MrCobolman I figured it out. Thanks dude. Can you check out the recent video I posted and give a riview on the landing part? Appreciate your videos, cheers
Hi Tinie - I did take a look at your video. Nice to see a complete end to end video in your own language. I hope that others speaking your language will benefit. I note that the video was 360p - have you thought of a higher resolution?
Hi. I thought of it but neither my game recorder software nor youtube will allow me to post above 360p. I guess I'll have to get premium for that. I feel like it's too early to do things kinda like that. But if there is any suggestions concerning the subject I'm listening. The language is Turkish btw. I want my country's youth to get to know aviation mechanics. In my video I also gave simple aeronautical and aerodynamic informations that will allow viewers to get a basic understanding of how an airplane works in air. I talked about aircraft building components, performances and instrumental landing system. I also gave informations about the concept of altitude pressure , the usage of altimeter and what it stands for. You did a great job in this video I very much utilized from that!. I thank you for this video again. Perhaps , if my videos start to get noticed I'll add english subtitles as well so that people all around the world can make use of them.
+firdaus kh There are many reasons why this may be the case so it's hard to be sure. I think the most likely reason is when the sim pilot has an altitude set on the main panel that is below their current altitude, and they have sufficient speed to meet the ability to climb.
+Jack Green Hello Jack - That's odd. My first thought was that you may have runways with the same ILS frequency at both ends but according to the charts, that can't be it. Are you perhaps activating the localizer too early? I'm tempted to fly it myself now and see what happens :)
do try if you're so inclined! if im not wrong.. i was told to land in 7L... at Frankfurt MAIN. . i fly this same aircraft.. and... mostly.. mimicking your video.. (of course.. according to my flight.. EGLL - EDDF)
+Jack Green I don't know if it's different for the Airbus, but for the Boeing 737 you have to put the right frequency into NAV1, the right autopilot setting (NAV/APR) aaaand you have to have the runway heading from the ILS information on the map dialed in to the course selector. I think this last step is important because it tells the autopilot what heading the glide slope should be on.
Hi Damien - If I ever get taxi-ing right, I'd be happy to :) Like most flight sim pilots, my taxi-ing skills are woeful. I blame it on the fact that I try and use rudder pedals while sitting on a wheeled chair on a flat surface. End result? Plane moves to one side and I shoot backwards across a slidy floor. Funny, but not good tax-ing. The best way I've found to taxi involves hooking the nose-wheel to the joystick during taxi-ing manouevres and doing it that way. Hope that helps.
MrCobolman Okay will try that let you no how I get on dude ,I like your style relaxed and your vidos are great to follow ,what do you think to the new flight sim is it worth getting I have flight sim x delux the grahpics are great but I want to update ? Can you get an addon that shows the inside of a plane while flying? Regards Damo
Thanks for your comment. It is a bit hard to hear at the beginning, I agree. It gets better a few minutes in to the video when I turn the noise of the engines down low (at approx 13 mins 30 secs in). This was one of my first ever FSX videos. I learned a lot from the experience, including recording narrative and voice over. My audio voice-overs are much clearer now. Maybe you'll take a look (and listen) and see? Try one of my more recent ones : ua-cam.com/video/lnX6epn7xpo/v-deo.html
There aren't a lot of tutorials out there featuring unaltered default aircraft, with narration from the cockpit. Thanks for your work. :D
Randy97402 It's a pleasure, Randy. Thanks for your kind words.
+Fred “FPS” Shell Thanks, Fred. I'm delighted that you found value in the video.
Now I can to pilot the default Airbus 321 of Flight Simulator X.
Thank you so much.
I have watched over a hundred videos on ils landings and this is the best. well done, Bruce
Thanks for your comment, Bruce.
For the first time I can find an airport though I have not mastered the ILS Landing and approach . just does not seem to grab the approach to the runway at 9 miles out. Otherwise very good training and now something to work on more. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing that footage and for taking the time to make it.
Pleasure. Thanks for taking the time to write.
Still learning from it. Simple and easy to follow for an infrequent FSX simmer. Do you have any other You tube instructional Videos?
Hello Ron - Sure, lots. Just check out the channel :)
Thank you, the best tutorial I have found yet! Excellent job!
Thanks
Thank you very much, Mr. Cobolman. I have just learnt a great deal from your video and tried it myself successfully. Please keep on the good work by posting such videos regularly
Good job mate. Got my last KC30 exam tomorrow. This video helped out a bit.
@Liofa Yes - you're right. There is a 250mph speed limit below 10,000' For this video though, I wanted to keep everything as simple, and short, as possible. Hence why I dialed in the higher speed.
MrCobolman Ahem. Knots, not mph
Good ahem! You're absolutely right. Thanks for reminding me.
:0
can u make a video on auto pilot for the default f-18 please. ive seen other video they sont explain like u do in detail. please as soon as u can
Thanks for the idea, Ethan. Military jets aren't really my thing though.
Dude your videos are awesome. Simple and easy to understand
Got the FSX and first day crashed 747 23 times. Then watched your guide and landed Singapore monsoon mission finally :)
5* rating.
Few videos audio indeed is not great but not something that stops me from watching.
Thanks for the guides.
Hi Viktor
Thanks for your kind comments. The audio is improved in my newer videos which I hope you'll also get to enjoy.
best video of all nearly took months before to land perfectly but now easily very simple and informative thanks
Excellent!

My sincerest "Thank You" for your video!!! Helped a whole lot with the mistakes I was doing...
+Nkosana Khambule Pleasure. Thanks for your comment.
Nice Work!! Just made Simple & Easy. Thanks a lot

seoscrum Thanks - good tip too!
I'm new to this game and this video really helped. Thanks!
Super Vid. Thank you. I've had rather a long break from the heavies so your vid served well as a sort of refresher course for me. Just the job.
Michaelxxx1936 Its a pleasure. Thanks for taking the time to write.
It took me 3 times to make everything correct :) Great video!
Thanks!
Very useful, thanks a lot for taking the time to produce this.
Pleasure. Thanks.
Dear, Mrcobolman, after watching few of your video i'm really impressed really love your video well i would say tutorial, the way you fly and same time you explain every individual thing really like it i have many things from your video, specially how to fly airbus please keep your good and do more video for begginers like me, again many thanks.

A great video, at last I can get my head around it, as I now realise where I was going wrong, many thanks.
A great pleasure. Thanks for your comment.
Great instruction. Thanks for helping me fly this default airplane.
Fantastic video. Well presented and very usefull.Thank you
Thanks for your comment
Fantastic instructional clip, thanks heaps for your knowledge which has assisted me a great deal!
+Redsea Thank you and thanks for your support!
Very informative guide. It’s just what I was looking for. Thanks!
Adam Goody what little star in my cockpit are you referring to
When the fmd detects the ils runway and I turn the speed down to 150 knots it stalls my aircraft and I crash! Do you know why it might do this??
Now I can fly the Airbus A321 thanks to you grate video.
You're very welcome. Thanks for the kind words.
Well done mate, best tutorial out there, thank you.
TheHundidor Thanks for your kind comment
There are speed restrictions below certain heights, dunno if fsx really cares though. :)
Great video.
Really help full and well presented.
Hi Paul. It's hard to say without seeing your setup. My first thought would be to double check the destination airport entered in to the GPS.
great video! All was good when I did it except I got a sink rate warning at about 500 feet and if I left it in autopilot the plane would land about 50 feet before the runway? Any ideas why? Thanks!
Hi Rob
There are so many possible variables, it's hard to say. A sudden sink warning might be caused by severe weather, engine failure, stall on approach etc. If you can reproduce it, I'd be happy to take a look.
MrCobolman Hi thanks for the reply, i tried it again a couple of times and it seemed to be fine. Not really sure what happened thanks for the help!
Top tutorial, thanks. Helped me nail Airbus ILS landings. Blimey, you even SOUND like a pilot...
Thanks, Lee. I did my Private Pilots Licence but only ever flew single prop aircraft. Not sure I could take the pay cut to be a real pilot though. The amount those guys have to invest in training and then the pittance they earn in the first few years requires total commitment and belief. It's a vocation.
Good video but what about the flaps and like 10 seconds after take off the speed was already above 250 kts, ? :O
Hi...I've one doubt...I"ve seen that in some airports there is no ils....how can we land properly in such situations?
Hi Paul
Under those circumstances, we'd use a Non-Precision Approach. This procedure is on my list of 'to-do' videos so why not subscribe and get a notification as soon as it's published?
MrCobolman Sure...I hope u release the video soon...It's sort of getting to me that I can't land at some of my favourite airports...:)
Just land it manually, give it a try!
Wondering what you do when on approach and need to complete a go around? do you turn it off and take command yourself or can the auto pilot do it?
+Joshua Werfel Do it yourself. You can set TO/GA power with the autopilot, you can have the runway heading dialed in to the heading selector so that you can switch from the approach hold to heading hold, and as you track the ILS down from your intercept you can set a cruise altitude in the alt hold for if you need to go back up. As soon as you're climing safely you can re-engage the autopilot and assuming you set it up to prepare for this eventuality you'll just climb safely on the runway heading and you can follow instructions.
is the auto pilot pretty much the same in the other air crafts?
How come no flaps on take off ?
When i get close to the airport my heading hold turns off and the plane just keeps going left.at first i thought it was the localizer but the plane never aligns with the runway please help
+FAROUK MAIDAMA Sorry to read that Farouk. I have no idea why you're facing that problem.
how do I get my maps up as they wont come up when I press world then maps
+Anthony Parker No idea, I'm afraid. That's an issue I've never suffered from.
You have to release parking break on takeoff before moving throttle
+Eoin Brennan No you don't, if it's a short runway. You want to spool up the engines before moving
Thanks I had know idea how to use the auto pilot and now I do
It's a pleasure. Confused me for a while, too :)
idk but i think i keep missing the airport but i think i do the same like in the video just from narita japan to haneda japan... i might be doing something wrong idk.
it tells me to make straight in runway 34L
Hi there. Finally made it thanks to your excellent explanation. (Methinks you might be a teacher by profession - yes/no?) Next will try across the pond CYYZ-EGKK in std Airbus. Ah! That's annoying. I'm pretty sure I experienced the same (waiting for an email). Frustrating indeed.
Excellent video!!! Thank you very much for your tutorial, when you have the opportunity do the default Boeing 747.
You're welcome. As to the Boeing 747 - I'll take a look.

MrCobolman Drop flare, just call it a dive.
LOL! :)
really good,
i learned a lot
thank you
thank MrCobolman. that was enjoyable very well done
Thanks :)
He calls the PFD or primary flight display the MFD, and the MFD or multi-function-display the PFD! Read the captions that you get when you mouse over!
+GOAF Pilot There are a few mistakes in this, my first ever UA-cam flight sim video. This is the first time anyone has mentioned a mix up between PFD & MFD so thanks for pointing it out.
I can not click on the airport to get the information I need when I open the view flight anlysis Do you have any idea about what I'm doing wrong

Tinie Tugrul I believe you have to click on the localizer beam.

Why when i turn on autopilot the nose always goes up ?
+firdaus kh There are many reasons why this may be the case so it's hard to be sure. I think the most likely reason is when the sim pilot has an altitude set on the main panel that is below their current altitude, and they have sufficient speed to meet the ability to climb.
Very interesting and nicely presented. I am totally new to gaming and am thinking of getting this FSX. I shall be watching more of your videos.
Thanks and welcome :)
trying to land at Frankfurt main but.. >_> the damned ils when i enable the localizer.. turns the aircraft.. THE OPPOSITE WAY! o_O
+Jack Green Hello Jack - That's odd. My first thought was that you may have runways with the same ILS frequency at both ends but according to the charts, that can't be it. Are you perhaps activating the localizer too early? I'm tempted to fly it myself now and see what happens :)

I think this last step is important because it tells the autopilot what heading the glide slope should be on.
hmmm good thing to consier Max John , thanks for the heads up
Thank you, Good tutorial! Great vid... :D

Thanks BobCat981 - I hope you enjoy the other flight sim videos on the channel.
Thanks sooooo much...! Great tutorial...
Thanks!
brilliant video
PERFECT VIDEO!
nice explanation thank you
Helps me a lot man :)
Helped me alot
+Bob Varano Thanks for your feedback
You should do more vids likr this
There's a fair few dotted around my channel :)
You've got a very 'English' or to put it in another way, calm, voice. :P Then so have I, I don't know if I can talk.
Nice video! Thank you ;) +1 sub for you
Emiliano Lasso Thanks, both for the kind words and for your subscription.
nice video! +1 sub! :)
+David Strauss Thanks
No flaps
"...whatever your poison is..."
Cheers
Should of manned the landing manually
But the point of the video was to land it on autopilot
i wish it was still 2015
World's noobiest video? Lol
+PilotPrayer Very possibly :) But it has a firm place in my affections. It's the first proper FSX video I ever created
unwatchable. terrible terrible audio can't even hear what you're saying.
