- In the 1970’s, Charlotte, North Carolina was in the twilight of its midcentury epoch. Still a vibrant city in many ways, its familiar downtown landscape would soon vanish.
Filmed over a 16-year period from 1972 to 1988 in Super 8 movie and 35mm slide formats.

Hi Ben. I loved this. (Bonnie)
Was a Charlotte Police Officer in the 70s. At Freedom Park when Ford there. Time moves on but kinda sad. Thx!
Charlotte native. The city changed dramatically....hardly recognizable. Definitely bittersweet. Well presented. Thanks for the nemories.
Charlotte was fun and safe back in the 70's and 80's..now days u gotta watch your surroundings.
Thank you for this
If you want to see what Charlotte was like 40 years ago head to Greenville, South Carolina. It was a great little city that has now become bloated and too big. Great documentary that brought back good memories.
My old working class neighborhood is now rich people and homeless.
No mention of Discovery Place or Spirit Square?
I flew over Charlotte in the summer of 2023. It’s awful to see the destruction of the forests surrounding the city to make room for more sprawl. Ugly what human overpopulation does to the natural world.
