I started making homemade cream of mushroom soup many years ago. Doing so made a huge difference in the taste of everything. I haven't bought canned cream of mushroom in a long time. It's super easy to make. I recommend everyone make homemade soup this Thanksgiving for green bean casserole. Growing up, this was a staple post Thanksgiving dish. It was an excelent way to use up leftover turkey. Left over gravy (my favorite beverage) would be used as part of the base.
I made this last night and all 8 kids asked for 2nds! I did blend up the mushroom cream sauce in the vitamix because some kiddos don't care for mushrooms....but once blended, they didn't know. Shhh. I made a triple batch of the sauce with broccoli & chicken. I used it with 2# regular spaghetti and 1# gluten free pasta . So, so good! The kids asked for it to be put in the meal rotation! 👏

Tried this recipe, followed mostly to the tee, and it turned out PERFECT. The only substitutions I did are using fresh garlic that I chopped myself, and rather than spaghetti, I used pancit noodles from the local asian grocery store. Thanks for posting this.
I make this often for a gathering of family meal. Instead of the broccoli (which my husband does not tolerate) I use yellow and red peppers finely chopped or sliced!! It is delicious. Thanks for sharing. Tomorrow night's meal for sure!! Respect 🌹♥️‼️

Try adding nutmeg to the bechamel sauce itself? And you'll taste the orginal way this recipe is made! Plus do the breadcrumb mix of italian breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese and top it on thick adding a few pats of butter to bake. And you'll be blown away what a delicious difference it makes! (Cause that's the authentic way it's made to begin with!)🎉🎉🎉
