I finally got around to building my Zeta 2.0 this evening 😊 I usually paint the eyes, cameras and scope. I used a liquid chrome pen for the vulcans, center of each vernier thruster and vents. The grenades will be painted in metallic red.
Thanks for the review Jabman. I've wanted this kit for awhile and now I know from this that it's a must have. I have to say the waverider mode looks better then most of the others I've seen out there.
great review! I built this figure, put the decals on, posed him and never moved it. and i'm happy with that. haven't even tried transforming it. i really like the effect when it's base and the base from the MK II are put together. I briefly considered getting the hyaku shiki and making a hanger dioramawith all 3 suits. looking forward to the conversion kit review. i've been thinking about getting the Z II convserion parts.... maybe someday.
on mine I noticed that the connection on the beam rifle was loose when attaching it to the arm and the wave rider but that was easy to fix by applying a tiny bit of superglue and letting it dry and now it fits perfectly.
What really sucks is that I had the original Zeta kit and ended up breaking one of the inner hip joints when I tried getting it into Wave Rider mode. It's been in it's box ever since.
great review, always fancied this kit. I think after seeing this I may get one someday! Thanks for reviewing it Jabman. Very very well put together and honest as always!
I've been seriously thinking of picking this up since it's a UC gundam. It's good u went over how difficult and time consuming the transformation can be. I mite get 2 zeta's to avoid the hassle cuz the wave rider is probably one of the better looking mobile armors.
And the way I think y there's balance issues is it's closely based on the looks of the zeta in the anime series. the zeta in the anime, if I recall, is hardly seen walking. Ive always seen it hovering on it's legs thrusters so something to keep in mind. Great review though. Always comes back for ur opinion
I agree that this is the best-looking Zeta kit out there - even the Perfect Grade looks kinda chunky in comparison. The MG1.0 is the most unstable kit I've ever seen. I don't fault the kit design for the transformation - it's inherently complicated and that's the beauty of the Zeta. To make it happen with the interlocking parts in this 2.0 is engineering brilliance. Most any complex transforming kit usually is a design balance between articulation & transformation.
My bicep swivels were so tight that I thought I would break it if I did a full 360 turn. Sadly this was also my first mastergrade, if I could I would heavily modify the shoulders and shave the bicep pegs a bit, and paint most of it.
well thats odd, i got mine to stand properly pretty much on my first try after building it last week!^^ the trick is to shift its center of gravity forward a little by playing with the knees. mine actually stands very securely, i can bump it slightly from the front and the back and it wont topple over.
you know...I thought the arms would be able to get close to a 180, but it was like a certain other kit (Who's name escapse me). if you try to bend the top joint first you can only get a 90, but if you bend the bottom joint first, it allows for a bigger bend...oh well...still, zeta looks amazing, and I wish I could get the amuro ray version...just so I don't have a shelf full of Blue-Red-White-Yellow kits...
@smpleleo It refers to when kamille uses the souls of his dead friends to pierce the cockpit of The-O with his nose cone in waverider mode and kill Scirocco
So tell me, do you happen to have the old Zeta Plus Test Color MG figure, and if so could you do a video of it. I will be receiving it along with several HG sometime at the end of the week.
Finally got to it and have to say thanks for the advice. Right now the head and chest are done (built). Would it be wise to apply the decals to the chest right now?
Mine balances fine. I do not know what's wrong with your copy. You should look into the vintage 1/144 Zeta gundam model kit from 1985. For me, It's the closest Bandai ever got to how the design appeared in the cartoons. Nice review as usual.
Hey man, I'll be going to Asia in August and I absolutely need to get a Zeta Gundam (considering Master and Perfect Grades): to your knowledge, which kit will you suggest?
Alright. The Mark II was fairly easy. still need to apply the decals (HD Colors ). I am really going to take my time with Zeta 2.0 any ideas for an action base for the Gundam Mk II 2.0 ( I got the limited edition with no base.)
@jabman025 My kits just sit on the shelf and I rarely touch them once I finish them. So I shouldn't have a problem with it. I may actually get a second at some point so that I have the both the Gundam and waverider modes.
Well my Zeta Gundam is finally built (some decals added). I found issues with the balance (horrible balance). The Nub marks I never found too much issue with as they are well hidden behind things. The display stand was VERY handy in taking care of the balance. The transformation I could tell during the build I was not going to like at all. I do thank you for the review it was enlightening and for the advice. If I get The O I will probably rough it through the trans. and do the Death of Scirocco.
@somegai There are other suits far more deserving of PG 2.0 treatments. Wing Zero Custom, and especially the Evangelion Perfect Grade. Yes, the first Perfect Grade was an Eva. Yes, it was crap. Not a 180 bend in the elbows or knees, not a full inner frame, a rubber suit that was hard to get on and no inner angel. The only thing wrong with the PG Zeta is it's proportions could use some tweaking.
+Isaac reiner The RG Zeta is enough to where if we get a Revive 1/144 HG Zeta, and I figure we probably will eventually, I WANT it to be a partformer. Just too complicated at that scale to be worth it, and I'd rather they didn't sacrifice the mobile suit for the sake of the waverider.
Do you have the original version? I have the original MG version, other than the base it looks very similar to the original ones, just wondering if it's worth purchasing 2.0
i got this kit for 85 euro,i overpaid i think. This kit is amazing tho,any beginners should avoid this, you might break something.I myself painted it silver and black, moved the wings on the sides of the shoulders, like the 00.The kit poses very well no matter what people say,the ankles and shoulders are the biggest problem pose wise.
love the zeta, love gundam zeta. but, just clicked. why would you need a more aerodynamic form (the wave rider) for a suit that spent the majority of its time in space.. were things like drag or friction... dont exist.
isn't it funny that the original zeta is the best design...all of the variations and "Upgrades" are either mooks or just feel like cheap immitations...well...except for Shin's...that Zeta is Badass!
My list to close out the year MG Zeta Gundam 2.0 MG Gundam Mk 2 2.0 (limited edition) MG Banshee (Sister broke my HGUC Banshee destroy mode ) MG RX-78-2 2.0 MG Char's Zaku 2 2.0 That is to close out November. December will be MG Hi Nu Gundam and maybe to close out the year MG Nu Gundam ver ka.
"I bet the 3rd time you transform it, it'll be its last" that sort of transformation complexity and durability. :-P
"I see dead people :*(" Zeta: "And I run on them! :D" Best one so far XD

They're forearm mounted Grenade Launchers.
Poor Sirocco had to watch Zeta transform for over 5 minutes after Kamille Newtype hacked him.
It stands perfectly for me, just use the ankle tilt and it works

If you like transformers and have alternators then you won’t have a problem with this kit

@ZR0Ver2
I'm the same; never had any problems with balance or weapons.
Wonder why so many people have problems.

@jabman025 The support arm on the base does move, you have to disconnect it from it's current position and then re attach it at the base's back.
My first gundam model was the assault kingdom zeta gundam lol
Serocist Thats not a model fam
@jabman025 Nice review, definitely helped make my mind up on this kit! Did ya get the mg epyon yet? What are your thoughts on it?
I agree that this is the best-looking Zeta kit out there - even the Perfect Grade looks kinda chunky in comparison. The MG1.0 is the most unstable kit I've ever seen.

also: "a connection into the crotch area"
ohhh my, that sounds naughty :D

Honestly once you get used to it, the transformation isn’t that complicated.
Hey man, I'll be going to Asia in August and I absolutely need to get a Zeta Gundam (considering Master and Perfect Grades): to your knowledge, which kit will you suggest?
My Zeta 2.0 is very balanced, one of the more balanced master grades on my shelf. Looks like you have the knees bent a bit, that'd cause a problem.
Alright. The Mark II was fairly easy. still need to apply the decals (HD Colors ). I am really going to take my time with Zeta 2.0 any ideas for an action base for the Gundam Mk II 2.0 ( I got the limited edition with no base.)

Outlaw8908 I'm just finishing one off. Do you know where the G and H decals go? I can't place them

i'm gonna buy this mg z gundam soon , because my FA zz gundam need friend from his sequel^^
@jabman025 Haha same here.....Ive a back log as well, Isnt the box art just awesome! Cool Ill look forward to seeing those! keep up the good work!
this transformation is child's play compared to the rg zeta.
+Isaac reiner The RG Zeta is enough to where if we get a Revive 1/144 HG Zeta, and I figure we probably will eventually, I WANT it to be a partformer. Just too complicated at that scale to be worth it, and I'd rather they didn't sacrifice the mobile suit for the sake of the waverider.
which is good right?
Arrowdodger hey, we got that now
Do you have the original version? I have the original MG version, other than the base it looks very similar to the original ones, just wondering if it's worth purchasing 2.0
Is there anything I have to watch out for when I build this model as I am going to receive it tomorrow.
did you use custom decals my dude?
@jabman025 Really? All for the sake of the review haha
So is the Gray Zeta going to be able to transform after you're done assembling and painting it?
jabman quick question I was thinking about getting this kit and was wondering if it comes with landing gear parts
yes it does, but they don't fit in particularly well and fall out easily
Okay thank you
great review
This thing has nothing on the VerKa's anime accuracy. Hopefully it'll have a better transformation too.

nice review :)
Hey can you make I video on how to fix loose joints on kits
its not a missle in the fist it's laser grapples
i had a hd version of this and i hated the fact that his arms are off scale + small and on a ball joint, the shoulders are also a pain in the butt.
I always used the stand
mine has a hard time standing normally
love the zeta, love gundam zeta. but, just clicked. why would you need a more aerodynamic form (the wave rider) for a suit that spent the majority of its time in space.. were things like drag or friction... dont exist.
is it worth the buy??
Horrible Balance?
I've built like 3 Zeta Gundam 2.0 kits (this one, Red Snake & Gray Wolf) and they've all been standing just fine.
The ankle can be pulled down right? Giving more freedom to the feet. Makes it more stable to stand.
isn't it funny that the original zeta is the best design...all of the variations and "Upgrades" are either mooks or just feel like cheap immitations...well...except for Shin's...that Zeta is Badass!
My list to close out the year
MG Zeta Gundam 2.0
MG Gundam Mk 2 2.0 (limited edition)
MG Banshee (Sister broke my HGUC Banshee destroy mode )
MG RX-78-2 2.0
MG Char's Zaku 2 2.0
That is to close out November. December will be MG Hi Nu Gundam and maybe to close out the year MG Nu Gundam ver ka.
Just wonder, is there any Zeta gundam kit that is actually good?
HGUC Zeta Gunpla Evolution Project
I only have one zeta and it’s the RG 3 white unicorn and I think that’s the best lol
Uh click the play button
@PaceBreaker23
I sadly dont get it lol
and ive watched the whole series too
i think the Zeta a1 is better than the 2.0...
zeta came before transformers
G1 released in 1984 and zeta in 1985 around 6 months after g1... but the original msg came out in 1979 so....
this suit need a pg 2.0
Sad boy twerking.
u just horrible, look at his leg position thats why he can stand by his own
@@Gunpla_shrimp he's right.
Zeta the transformer
