Answering your questions: 1. They are from Japan, based in Tokyo, even though only Fami the bassist is actually from Tokyo. Asami the singer is from Sapporo, Midori the shredded blonde guitarist (two silver medals in body fitness competitions) is from a city on the island of Shikoku that used to be called Kagawa and is now part of the city of Takamatsu, Miyako the dark-haired guitarist and pianist is from Osaka (and has the accent to prove it, I am told), and Haruna the drummer is from Shizuoka, a city to the southwest of Tokyo. They came together in 2016 and already in 2018 won an award for best new band from Metal Hammer, one of the most important metal publications. (Others will fill in more details.) 2. All their songs are in English except for one very early version of a song called Bravehearted. That was a conscious decision, as they very consciously play European styles of metal (except for their thrash, which owes more to American bands Metallica, Slayer, and Testament) rather than the often rather poppy Japanese style. 3. Yes, Asami was wearing contacts. I won't say there are no Japanese people at all with blue eyes, but they must be very rare and have some recent foreign intermixture. 4. Asami's singing is often compared to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden or she is called a female Bruce Dickinson. I think that is a fair comparison. Some in the band are Iron Maiden fans, and she may have studied Dickinson when she was asked to sing in a metal band, something that she had no prior experience in. 5. I don't really have a favorite band member. When you have been a fan for years like I have been and had opportunity to see what each member brings to the band and how they act and interact, I like them all for what they are and what they bring to the table. That said, I may have a soft spot for Asami (the vocalist), who not only is terribly nice (I had a brief interaction with her in person), but also has come a long way from being the R'n'B bar singer and rock background singer that she used to be before Lovebites. She was asked to join on the strength of a demo tape and had no experience with metal: now she co-writes or writes half of their songs, writes all the lyrics, writes some of their heaviest songs to boot, has come to like especially thrash metal, and has visibly grown in confidence and frontwomanship since their earliest concerts in 2017/2018. Especially in live videos from the last two years, she has a sort of elegant and charming but authoritative presence. It helps that she never fell into the trap to try to act "metal". But I like the others too. They are all super talented. Haruna the drummer shows that you can be both cute and shy and a real metalhead. Miyako is a talented pianist in addition to guitarist and writes the other half of their songs; she is the cool, controlled one. Midori the blonde guitarist is the badass one. Fami the bassist is their second bassist, is still very young (22) and is a bundle of charm and energy on stage. (Their first bassist, Miho, left in 2021 for personal or maybe artistic reasons, it's not entirely clear; most of the clips you'll find will still have Miho, as she played on three of their four albums and three of their four EPs.) Live together they are incredibly tight as a group. So enjoy. They have close to 60 or songs, not one of them really bad and most of them very, very good. They are not only good at their instruments, they have really good songwriting skills. All members of Lovebites have black/brown hair and brown eyes. Its dyes and contacts if its anything else. There are some Japanese that have blue eyes. They live in the north and has Mongol ancestors. Some Mongols have blue eyes. But no, Asami has contacts. And it looks so good. I try to imagine her with black hair and brown eyes.

The male singers Asami most often gets compared to are Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and Ronnie James Dio, although her background is in R&B, Soul, and Gospel music, and she names Alicia Keys as one of her major influences.

@@lambo_90 She left "for personal reasons", just 2 days after the 3rd anniversary of her young father's death, that happened when the band was in Europe on tour, including Wacken W-O-A 2018 (Germany) and Bloodstock B-O-A 2018 (UK). The personal details are between the inner circle of the band. It's futile to speculate!
To clarify, Asami moved to America for a few years to learn Western dance like hip hop dancing (she was already skilled in ballet). Learning English was just a bonus from her stay, but wasn't her reason for moving here. Her friendship with Nana Hatori (who speaks fluent English and is Japanese-American but lives in Japan) is probably the biggest influence on her learning English. Nana helped her translate her lyrics from Japanese to English on their early albums.

Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects. Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the bassist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string) The present members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed. All members of the band can play piano/keyboards. They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. Asami the singer reminds me more of Ronnie James Dio than Bruce Dickinson but she is so much more imo. Small in stature yet as powerful as a Freight Locomotive. Haruna the drummer may be the most aggressive percussionist I have ever heard. Her iso tracks reveal insane cymbal work on the God Level and highly intricate up tempo skin work with laser precision.
Haruna is very economical. She can play for hours in blasting speed. All drummers that has reacted and seen her feet work has said -- I could not do that.

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. LOVEBITES!!!! Over the course of the last 18 months, I discovered them and they subsequently became an all-time favorite band for me, joining Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. I got to see their first ever US concert in Atlanta one month ago! Super ladies playing super heavy metal!

Welcomed to the mind-blowing world of Lovebites. These Japanese women are extremely talented, skillful and exceptional versatile musicians. Their live performances are just outstanding. Their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. About a month ago they finished their tour in Asia, Europe and, for the very first time, in the USA. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined the band. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in a little more than seven years. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. She's kind of a freelancer now, she has quite a big network and worked with several bands and solo artists (there were many of them!) She also plays solo on music events and organizes them. From what we see, she's quite happy with her role now. The chapter LOVEBITES closed for her during the Covid-19 pandemic (Aug 17, 2021). Ah, I forgot to explain the search for Fami: In spring 2022, LOVEBITES did a worldwide, gender-, age-, and nationality- neutral audition for a new bassist in spring 2022. You had to send in a video of a baseline for a given piece of music by the two guitarists Midori and Miyako. Over 250 bassists participated. They were invited for several rounds of selection, until they had just two in summer 2022, and they chose Fami to join in October 2022, not just for her excellent playing, but also for the personality and vibes. This year on tour in Europe, Korea and the US, it became very clear, that this was an excellent choice! (actually, we already could see it in March 2023 with her first performance with audience, "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate"!)

@@Abigirl_Reacts I concur. Usually, I would post a list and overview of the songs, but it is a bit out of date, thus it helps, that we can say, take any, and you won't be disappointed. No bad song at all (yes, it's possible), some masterpieces including (but not only) the last two official live videos on LOVEBITES UA-cam channel "Edge Of The World" (2017) and "Soldier Stands Solitarily" (2023), both played live 2023, released 2024. The band has 60 self written songs (plus 5 or so instrumentals) and essentially 3 excellent song covers ("Painkiller" / Judas Priest, "Eagle Fly Free" / Helloween, "Love Bites (So Do I)" / Halestorm). Every member has some side projects as well.
In terms of pure musicianship, LOVEBITES are in the top three metal bands on the planet. The only two other metal bands that have the collective talent to play LOVEBITES entire catalogue is Dream Theater and Symphony-X (because a keyboardist is needed who can play classical piano). As good as their music videos are, you really need to see their live videos to fully appreciate the level of talent these women possess.
Welcome to the amazing world of Lovebites! My favorite band of all time. They are amazing. You should check out a few live performances from them. Their videos are great, but they are so impressive and entertaining live. They play a few different genre of metal, thrash and power mostly, but they have some great ballads. Asami has an R&B background, and her voice is really full and surprisingly rich and even a bit husky in her midtones, but she can belt way up there like there's no tomorrow. Some songs with piano bring out her R&B side while others like this one have her soaring like that. That's simply her eyes and not contacts, but the video may have some filters. She does play piano, but Miyako (the black-haired guitarist) is the main pianist, as believe it or not, piano is her better instrument and that's saying something. Songs where there are more than one recording and one of them is stellar. * Holy Wars shall be the live one in Zepp DiverCity 2020. * Swan Song shall be the live one with the Chopin intro. * Shadowmaker shall be the official Music Video (I think, others think live, but I think the MV is some notches better.) * Generally, if there is a live, go for the live, they are totally fantastic live, which shows how good they are.
I don't know, I would like to think so. I follow her UA-cam channel because she does some really interesting technical demonstrations. I used to be a stage manager and sound engineer and she really knows her stuff.

For some songs in the credits you will see Mao. Mao Yamamoto is a songwriter and keyboardist ( ex Light Bringer with Fuky " famous female metal singer" of Unlucky Morpheus and Dollsboxx). if you listen to alot of the top touring bands of japan they will usually have atleast one member who speaks english at some level even if they aren't all that comfortable talking in english. Japan has a high level of competency when it comes to music the little big engine on the drums is possibly one of the best active metal drummers regardless of gender in japan

Answering your questions:
1. They are from Japan, based in Tokyo, even though only Fami the bassist is actually from Tokyo. Asami the singer is from Sapporo, Midori the shredded blonde guitarist (two silver medals in body fitness competitions) is from a city on the island of Shikoku that used to be called Kagawa and is now part of the city of Takamatsu, Miyako the dark-haired guitarist and pianist is from Osaka (and has the accent to prove it, I am told), and Haruna the drummer is from Shizuoka, a city to the southwest of Tokyo. They came together in 2016 and already in 2018 won an award for best new band from Metal Hammer, one of the most important metal publications. (Others will fill in more details.)
2. All their songs are in English except for one very early version of a song called Bravehearted. That was a conscious decision, as they very consciously play European styles of metal (except for their thrash, which owes more to American bands Metallica, Slayer, and Testament) rather than the often rather poppy Japanese style.
3. Yes, Asami was wearing contacts. I won't say there are no Japanese people at all with blue eyes, but they must be very rare and have some recent foreign intermixture.
4. Asami's singing is often compared to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden or she is called a female Bruce Dickinson. I think that is a fair comparison. Some in the band are Iron Maiden fans, and she may have studied Dickinson when she was asked to sing in a metal band, something that she had no prior experience in.
5. I don't really have a favorite band member. When you have been a fan for years like I have been and had opportunity to see what each member brings to the band and how they act and interact, I like them all for what they are and what they bring to the table.
That said, I may have a soft spot for Asami (the vocalist), who not only is terribly nice (I had a brief interaction with her in person), but also has come a long way from being the R'n'B bar singer and rock background singer that she used to be before Lovebites. She was asked to join on the strength of a demo tape and had no experience with metal: now she co-writes or writes half of their songs, writes all the lyrics, writes some of their heaviest songs to boot, has come to like especially thrash metal, and has visibly grown in confidence and frontwomanship since their earliest concerts in 2017/2018. Especially in live videos from the last two years, she has a sort of elegant and charming but authoritative presence. It helps that she never fell into the trap to try to act "metal".
But I like the others too. They are all super talented. Haruna the drummer shows that you can be both cute and shy and a real metalhead. Miyako is a talented pianist in addition to guitarist and writes the other half of their songs; she is the cool, controlled one. Midori the blonde guitarist is the badass one. Fami the bassist is their second bassist, is still very young (22) and is a bundle of charm and energy on stage. (Their first bassist, Miho, left in 2021 for personal or maybe artistic reasons, it's not entirely clear; most of the clips you'll find will still have Miho, as she played on three of their four albums and three of their four EPs.) Live together they are incredibly tight as a group.
So enjoy. They have close to 60 or songs, not one of them really bad and most of them very, very good. They are not only good at their instruments, they have really good songwriting skills. Midori (mi-do-ri)- Lead Guitar (Left) - During the band's hiatus, she entered into a body building competition, hence the reason for her huge forearms.
Miyako (mi-ya-ko)- Guitar/Piano/Composer/Lyricist (Right) - She is a classically trained piainist for 2 thirds of her life and insanely talented.
Fami (fa-mi)- Bassist - She is the newest member of the band, replacing former bassist and founder of the band: Miho. Fami has her own youtube channel covering songs, mostly on her bass.
Haruna (ha-ru-na)- Drums - Shortest member standing at just 4 Foot 10 is a beast on the drums.

@@lambo_90 She left "for personal reasons", just 2 days after the 3rd anniversary of her young father's death, that happened when the band was in Europe on tour, including Wacken W-O-A 2018 (Germany) and Bloodstock B-O-A 2018 (UK). The personal details are between the inner circle of the band. It's futile to speculate!

To clarify, Asami moved to America for a few years to learn Western dance like hip hop dancing (she was already skilled in ballet). Learning English was just a bonus from her stay, but wasn't her reason for moving here. Her friendship with Nana Hatori (who speaks fluent English and is Japanese-American but lives in Japan) is probably the biggest influence on her learning English. Nana helped her translate her lyrics from Japanese to English on their early albums.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack 🐺 Lovebites fans around the world, will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects.
Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the bassist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string)
The present members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.

Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcibed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman.
Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bacchus Bass. Recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed.
All members of the band can play piano/keyboards.
They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023.

Asami the singer reminds me more of Ronnie James Dio than Bruce Dickinson but she is so much more imo. Small in stature yet as powerful as a Freight Locomotive. Haruna the drummer may be the most aggressive percussionist I have ever heard. Her iso tracks reveal insane cymbal work on the God Level and highly intricate up tempo skin work with laser precision.
Haruna is very economical. She can play for hours in blasting speed.
All drummers that has reacted and seen her feet work has said -- I could not do that.

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons.
They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. You just watched the studio version of the title track.

Their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. About a month ago they finished their tour in Asia, Europe and, for the very first time, in the USA. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined the band. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in a little more than seven years. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist, trained since 3 years old. My next recommendations are “The hammer of wrath”, “Set the world on fire” (live) or, for a softer style “Liar”, “Empty daydream” (live)

@@Abigirl_Reacts Nobody outside the inner circle really knows. And it's most important, that they found a worthy successor in Fami, because Miho is also a badass bassist. She's kind of a freelancer now, she has quite a big network and worked with several bands and solo artists (there were many of them!) She also plays solo on music events and organizes them. From what we see, she's quite happy with her role now. The chapter LOVEBITES closed for her during the Covid-19 pandemic (Aug 17, 2021).
Ah, I forgot to explain the search for Fami: In spring 2022, LOVEBITES did a worldwide, gender-, age-, and nationality- neutral audition for a new bassist in spring 2022. You had to send in a video of a baseline for a given piece of music by the two guitarists Midori and Miyako. Over 250 bassists participated. They were invited for several rounds of selection, until they had just two in summer 2022, and they chose Fami to join in October 2022, not just for her excellent playing, but also for the personality and vibes. This year on tour in Europe, Korea and the US, it became very clear, that this was an excellent choice! (actually, we already could see it in March 2023 with her first performance with audience, "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate"!)

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have already released 4 full length studio albums, 4 EPs, a best of compilation and a bunch of live albums, available on CD/DVD/Blu-ray.
In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest.

@@Abigirl_Reacts I concur. Usually, I would post a list and overview of the songs, but it is a bit out of date, thus it helps, that we can say, take any, and you won't be disappointed. No bad song at all (yes, it's possible), some masterpieces including (but not only) the last two official live videos on LOVEBITES UA-cam channel "Edge Of The World" (2017) and "Soldier Stands Solitarily" (2023), both played live 2023, released 2024. The band has 60 self written songs (plus 5 or so instrumentals) and essentially 3 excellent song covers ("Painkiller" / Judas Priest, "Eagle Fly Free" / Helloween, "Love Bites (So Do I)" / Halestorm). Every member has some side projects as well.
In terms of pure musicianship, LOVEBITES are in the top three metal bands on the planet. The only two other metal bands that have the collective talent to play LOVEBITES entire catalogue is Dream Theater and Symphony-X (because a keyboardist is needed who can play classical piano). As good as their music videos are, you really need to see their live videos to fully appreciate the level of talent these women possess.

Welcome to the amazing world of Lovebites! My favorite band of all time. They are amazing. You should check out a few live performances from them. Their videos are great, but they are so impressive and entertaining live. They play a few different genre of metal, thrash and power mostly, but they have some great ballads. Asami has an R&B background, and her voice is really full and surprisingly rich and even a bit husky in her midtones, but she can belt way up there like there's no tomorrow. Some songs with piano bring out her R&B side while others like this one have her soaring like that. That's simply her eyes and not contacts, but the video may have some filters. Throwing you a bub so I don't miss your next reaction to them. I see some other suggestions in the comments, so I'll add a few more in another reaction. She does play piano, but Miyako (the black-haired guitarist) is the main pianist, as believe it or not, piano is her better instrument and that's saying something. If you want to hear Asami at her most R&B with some piano support, it would be (among others) Empty Daydream (I adore this song, and it starts with a piano and voice only intro) ua-cam.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/v-deo.html or Rising, of which there are a few options. They're all petite! The drummer(Haruna) is 4'9" The singer(Asami) is 4"10" The blond guitarist(Midori) is 4'10" The dark haired guitarist(Miyako) is 5'2" and the bassist(Fami) is the tallest at 5'4" Her voice is probably reminding you of a female Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden! All their songs are in English!
I have heard 4'11 for Midori and 5'2 or 5'3 for Fami. Or even the strange 5'2.5, if that kind of notion is used. She is slightly taller than Miyako.

Yes, they are tiny. 5'2 is a medium height Japanese woman though. So Fami and Miyako are medium size. Of course, for most westerners that is small.

If you want advice on Lovebites songs, I would say pick anything at random, live or studio and it will be amazing....

@@Abigirl_Reacts 99% correct. There are some few traps though. Songs where there are more than one recording and one of them is stellar.
* Holy Wars shall be the live one in Zepp DiverCity 2020.
* Swan Song shall be the live one with the Chopin intro.
* Shadowmaker shall be the official Music Video (I think, others think live, but I think the MV is some notches better.)
* Generally, if there is a live, go for the live, they are totally fantastic live, which shows how good they are.
Miyako is pretty, and nice, I commented on her channel yesterday and she sent me a heart (or more likely some bloke in her office did) 😄

I don't know, I would like to think so. I follow her UA-cam channel because she does some really interesting technical demonstrations. I used to be a stage manager and sound engineer and she really knows her stuff.

I love seeing reactor's first ever impression of LOVEBITES. Your raised eyebrows and open mouth - classic ☺. I see there are plenty of comments already giving the band info so I won't repeat other than to say that's Haruna on the drums - a 4ft 9in powerhouse, nicknamed The Little Big Engine by the rest of the band 👏👏. In my opinion they're the HEAVY METAL goddess. I saw them last June in Paris 🇨🇵 .it was my best concert ever. I want to see them as soon as possible. I ❤them.
For some songs in the credits you will see Mao. Mao Yamamoto is a songwriter and keyboardist ( ex Light Bringer with Fuky " famous female metal singer" of Unlucky Morpheus and Dollsboxx). Mao write a song for them in each album or Ep. ( Some fans don't like him) Mao works others Female metal band in the LOVEBITES label " victor entertainment" record label of JVC-KENWOOD. He works with LONESOME BLUE AND EAST OF EDEN.

if you listen to alot of the top touring bands of japan they will usually have atleast one member who speaks english at some level even if they aren't all that comfortable talking in english. Japan has a high level of competency when it comes to music the little big engine on the drums is possibly one of the best active metal drummers regardless of gender in japan

@@Abigirl_Reacts They are very close and do lots of things together. I have never heard the term TWIN SISTERS, but why not - in spirit. They are very different though. Midori is extrovert and Miyako is introvert. Midory is the shredding one and she also compete in body shaping (?). Miyako is the music genius. She is virtuoso on both guitar and piano and play more instruments. She is also the main composer.
ASAMI singer is absolute GODDESS. ASAMI = male singer. That doesn’t make any sense to me.

What's your bad? This is just their Power/Speed/Symphonic side. They play a whole bunch of different styles and blend them together. Every song has its own significance. What's for you? Thrash, NWOBHM, Neoclassical, Hard Rock, Classical, Powerballads, Prog?
