I'm using Apple HomeKit with Homebridge. I actually find Homebridge works pretty well and rarely goes off-line. However, unfortunately a good deal of our devices are cloud-based, mainly ring cameras and Amazon smart plugs. The ring plug-in, though it's cloud-based, has been very reliable. However, Alexa Smart home, the plug-in I use to integrate the Amazon Smart plugs into Apple home, is relatively unstable. It works 80 to 90% of the time, but there's been two times there has been an outage multiple days. So those smart plugs are getting replaced soon. I try to get natively HomeKit compatible devices, and if those aren't available, I look for devices which can be locally controlled with a Homebridge plug-in, for example our Kasa devices.
Mine is disconnected and sitting in a drawer. The only use of keeping it connected would be to integrate something that isn’t integrated directly with Home Assistant but is with SmartThings, but I don’t know of any devices offhand where that is the case.
It certainly is a huge upgrade! In the past, I could give several reasons why switching may not have made sense, but I struggle to find a reason currently.
I don't have time to watch a 20-min vid. I was hoping for a demo or chart or something showing the pros and cons of each, or how HA is superior to ST. I am a current ST user, and the system works for me. It's just that there are some devices out there that only work with HA (for now), and I need more than a 20-min rant on why you like HA more than ST.
Anybody that can tell me how to move all my zigbee devices from my smartthings hub to my home assistant hub, without running smartthings hub with my home assistant hub?
You need to exclude/delete the devices from SmartThings and then add them to Home Assistant using a coordinator such as the recently renamed SkyConnect. I do that in this video: DIY Smart Home: Home Assistant! (Initial Setup) ua-cam.com/video/ZdAufh6bZes/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching! Let me know below which platform you are using and why.

Local control or bust. Good option switching over.
Thanks for watching. Local control is king! Glad we made the switch!
Do you still need the smartthings hub, or did you disconnect it entirely? Any use keeping it around?

it took me a lot longer to switch, and let me tell you brother, what an upgrade !!

Thanks for the feedback. To sum it up: Home Assistant has more compatibility, is more powerful, and has more local execution.
