For what it's worth. I feel like just as much as there's people wincing, there's also a lot of us who know the game are looking on with _absolute glee._ A lot of things get set in stone for people who play often, so it's fascinating to watch the design decisions of someone who's figuring it out for themselves from scratch, warts and all.
Agreed, it's nice to see a totally fresh take on building stuff - and honestly that's the most fun part of the game. Reading solutions online sucks the fun right out of it
I like your series specifically BECAUSE you aren't a 1000 hour veteran building min maxed ratios and perfect factories. We have enough of those already. I'm here to re-live my first play through vicariously through you lol!!
It's refreshing watching a series that feels organic rather than perfect ratios set up in city blocks. I love both, it's just nice to see it done differently.
I would recommend checking out the circuit network because the game won’t force you to. It will replace a lot of your headaches with smaller, more interesting headaches.
If you offset the beacons from the centrifuges by 1 tile, rather than having them in line, they will be able to cover more centrifuges, 8 instead of 6. same when using beacons with any other 3x3 building such as chem plants or assemblers. Also, I think you can destroy cliffs with nukes.
"Read the short tutorial" is a valid critisism lol, but with that said, i ABSOLUTELY LOVE this series as someone with 3k hours in the game. Once you play enough, your designs start getting more optimised and they all start looking like everyone else's. I love seeing new designs, even if they are cursed. I myslef am scared of Kovarex enriching, so i always use a blueprint for it with fancy circuits, but this series inspired me to come up with my own design, even if it's worse than the blueprint, but it works! Basically it's okay to build anything as long as it works, but sometimes it's better to blueprint something reliable (like a nuclear reactor - they don't blow, but you don't want blackouts lol). Keep on doing stuff the way you already do, Kibs!
1:45 and that's exactly where the entertainment value lies There a lot of people who know how to play factorio well. There isn't so many who don't, yet still make cool videos
I love watching you learn because its very similar to the mistakes I also had which were more fun to figure out on your own than just googling. The fluid backup situation is what got me into learning about circuitry, but most of it is still way over my head.
I watch this series *because* Kibz is experiencing it for the first time and not following all the guides. I couldn't avoid spoilers so I just dove right in and read everything I could about Space Age. I like seeing the game from someone's perspective where they're trying to learn everything on their own.
I actually like the slow-ish pace, there are already tons of people who build megabase by the second episode, your playthrough on the other hand is just kinda chill and i like it
Ahhhhh the joy of watching Kibitz, with his thousands of hours playing this style of games, falling for the same trap that gets even new players - you can NEVER build enough circuit boards. No matter how many you think you are making, you can always make more because they are used for so many damn things.
While your blind charging into Factorio is driving me nuts, it can be very entertaining. 😆 Given how you build in Satisfactory, though, I can't wait to see your second play-through with all of the spreadsheets and massive factories. The factory must grow!
"[I'll] go through this [uranium] pretty quick" YEUP, Kibz has never played Factorio before. That uranium patch will last until end game, ESPECIALY with Koverax. SPEAKING of Uranium.... I love that you have this insanely large uranium processing plant, when you probably need like.... 4? centrifuges processing raw ore, and maybe 1-2 doing enrichment. It makes me smile in a good way. Edit - And before anybody gets uppity, It doesn't matter that he's "over building". So he has excess uranium? No such thing. He'll find something to do with it. "Worst" case, Nuclear fuel in tank go ZOOM.
well, if he plays factorio like he plays satisfactory where the answer to alien lifeform no matter if its plant base or bio is to BLOW IT UP, i can imagine him using ALOT of nukes sooo... yeah he might actualy run out of uranium
I would agree if he would use the Uranium for power only, then yes, that patch would last forever. Make a couple hundred nukes however.... that patch WILL drain. A single atomic bomb requires 100 U235, which using Kovarex requires 300 U238, which in turn requires 3000 Ore. (All assuming no productivity). That patch won't last that long, even with prod modules in the Centrifuges.
man DON'T listen to these nah sayers. I actually enjoy watching you learning the game and figuring out on the way Of course youre going to make mistakes but if they want to watch a speedrun of the fame there are alread a million of those online This is special unique and has more charm than anyone else
I used to do Kovarex by basically having 8 sequential splitters and only the tiny bit of 235 in that last splitter would go out to be used in the base. It worked with an occasional belt jam. Now I have boxes and inserters wired up. Auto puts uranium back to centrifuges, and if there is a surplus, another inserter sends 235 to the rest of the base. No jams, no hassel. Just two wires and BAM. Never have to look at it again
It actually won't last that long since he's mass-producing Atomic Bombs. Nuclear reactors use next to nothing, yes, but making a couple thousand nukes will drain that patch reasonably quickly.
Even with blue belts your purple science machines will consume so much rail that you will battle to keep a quarter of those machines filled with rails when its going at full tilt. I went with a science build with one iron rod machine inputting directly to 2 rail machines that input directly to 4 purple science machines and it is pretty much perfectly ratioed. I know you want to upgrade belts and everything, not going to happen with purple science, just a happy hint.
Seeing you play Factorio and discover so much technology is just so much fun. I hope with enough updates, Foundry will have as much content as this game and will even have a Space Age expansion of its own. 🙏
I know you like learning as you go, which is fair its what I mostly do too, but I am just going to say that the most important thing I've learned in my playthroughs is just to build an entirely separate circuit factory and ship them into your main factory 😄you will always need more and circuits + LDS will use the majority of your resources and starve everything else. Plus there's spoilers reasons for future space age tech that make it even more Ideal. I spent a lot of time being frustrated until I realized how mass green circuits and LDS production were why my belts were always empty
my headcanon is that the assembler breaks down and studies how to improve the items used in the science repice, and then condenses the knowledge into fruity liquid, that is then consumed by tiny genius alien biters inside the laboratory to unlock stuff
0:30 There is an achievement for doing an extraplanetary research (any research using a science pack from one of the other planets, space science doesn't count) before unlocking either yellow or purple science. Not a fan of it personally, I prefer to overprepare. First time I went to another planet I brought an entire factory along with me, along with a rare quality power armor mk2. 1:46 I cannot wait for you to get to Gleba. I'm not spoiling (heh) anything. I'm just saying, I will absolutely love to see you go at Gleba with that mentality. 20:50 Worth nothing, you cannot bring pre-assembled Atomic Bombs to other planets. A nuke is too heavy to be put in a rocket. You can send the uranium-235 instead and then make them either in space or the planet you want to bring them to however. There are use-cases for nukes against certain enemies that aren't merely biters.
i love it that you make many things wrong/inefficient, that is the beatuy of the game. Finding out how you solve the logistic challenges. I picked up the game some month ago and see simlar mistakes, that makes me happy
I like seeing people trying stuff by themself. I think factorio is at it's best with a bit of chaos. As soon as I'm on christmass break I plan to start working on a mod and one of my goal is to make things different enough that the "correct" way to play doesn't apply. We'll see if I can manage that ^^'
Just a heads up that the ratios for liquids (especially steam) changed in 2.0 with the new fluid mechanics, so the nuclear setup may need tweaked a bit to be "optimal." I think you should be able to just add more turbines, but hovering over the parts to see the input/output rates should tell you all you need to know.
i would recommend you the Calculator Mod. Its better for new Players too plan out Factorys and the Output. It gives you a better unterstanding of what you are doing and how the Numbers work for each Step.
MrKibitz you need to put a tank down for both heavy and light oil then put a pump that only starts once tank has 20k of heavy or light oil ( connect the red wire from pump to tank then set filter on the pump, the red wire is the red R looking button on the hud top left on the bar) or you will be screwed once you need lubricant and rocket fuel in bulk!
Your bus is gonna make future Kibs so upset. Pretty soon you will find out that a single belt of green circuits cannot move enough circuits to run even part of your base. It is common for a bus of 6+ belts of just green circuits.
I have 1400 hours played, and yes I am laughing a bit at your mistakes, BUT I am entertained, and also aware enough to know that I made far more mistakes when I was new to the game. Also it is interesting to see someone building in styles that aren't necessarily 'optimal'. P.S. Gleba will make you cry. Or scream. Perhaps both. Do NOT go to Gleba first.
Any suggestions I'd have aren't really relevant, 'cause a near majority of my playtime now has been in development of a cellular hexagonal train network with self-expanding capabilities.
I loved the last episode, as it showed a nice change from people min maxing the fun, and looking and how to do everything before enjoying playing the thing itself.
I think its funny when beginners make stupid beginner mistakes, no idea how it makes people angry. Only thing I would recommend against is copying blueprints from the internet. Its so fun to design your own things, find the inefficiencies, and correct them rather than just having an optimal blueprint.
Look my dude. I have 26k hours in Factorio. I deleted all my blueprints for 1.0 and then proceeded to rebuild them all from memory, to the dismay and amusement of my friends who were playing on the same server. The fun for me here is watching you do weird shit and make mistakes. Because watching Nilaus for the 400th time do the exact same city block/main bus setup is boring asf to me. Your pacing is fine btw. I just kinda want more frequent episodes, but you got your schedule and I'm not going to complain about it.
Let people get frustrated at you not figuring stuff out... It's interesting to watch organic discovery. Everyone thinks they're a genius because they read it on the wiki or watched some other streamer do it. And of course once you already know it seems SoooOooOoo oBviOuS...
In Satisfactory u plan out every singel step by 0.1 of each ratio and thats cool maybe a bit much. Why did u build random numbers of assambly machienes per step in factorio? (green and red circuits for example) Dont get me wrong i love watching your videos but in the same type of game so different play styles. Ty for the episode cant w8 for the next.
For people saying the pacing was slow, are you sure they meant your actions and not the release schedule? 🤷♂ The actual videos seemed fine, I just wish we got them more often :D
Just want to point out that tutorial IS a part of the game and things it explains are not MEANT to be obscure and the game might not have another way to discover them, thus causing unnecessary limitations and complexity.
That's the worst Kovarex loop I have ever seen. The nuclear setup is also SUPER inefficient. You should have steam storage and logistics to only use fuel cells when needed instead of wasting them.
For what it's worth. You can only experience learning the game yourself once. However you can watch youtubers learn the game as many times as you want!
Agreed, it's nice to see a totally fresh take on building stuff - and honestly that's the most fun part of the game. Reading solutions online sucks the fun right out of it
This
Totally agree. It's very refreshing watching kibitz learn as he plays

I smile everytime I hear the words 'boop', 'wazoo' and 'choo'.
Stay crunchy.
Super useful tool in the latest update. The map has a search bar you can write “Plastic” and tells you where all the plastic machines are located 5:18
I would recommend checking out the circuit network because the game won’t force you to. It will replace a lot of your headaches with smaller, more interesting headaches.
Ill have to give them a try

I really love your way of covering this game. Thanks Kibz.
SPACE! (SPace Space space!)
To be fair Kibz, Kovarex takes forever because no sane person needs that many!
1:45 and that's exactly where the entertainment value lies
There a lot of people who know how to play factorio well.

Just when I was looking for a factorio vid. Excited for this episode
"[I'll] go through this [uranium] pretty quick"
YEUP, Kibz has never played Factorio before.

I found it funny how he said kovarex is essential for nuclear power. Even without kovarex you need like 4 uranium miners per reactor.
Kibs actually did play factorio before but years ago and those videos were giod

Kibz dont change, this playthrough is hilarious. I love it, and I have 3000 hours in this game. GO WITH THE FLOW
I enjoy this serie, so whatever OCD haters says, play it your way.
Kibz: This uranium will run out pretty fast.
Me: He has no idea, does he?
It actually won't last that long since he's mass-producing Atomic Bombs. Nuclear reactors use next to nothing, yes, but making a couple thousand nukes will drain that patch reasonably quickly.
I love your musics 😊
I was waiting so long for next episode ;-;

dude i was hungry for this ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉 thanks for your time and patience sir 👏
new kibz video and dinner is awesome!
yep, that blueprint looks like something by Nilaus. He always makes designs that are tile-able.

If you're taking minor suggestions, 3 copper coil assemblers feeding two circuit assemblers is a bit more optimal. ;)
Na kibz, the pacing is fine. I’ve never watched this game and your helping me to learn it
i love it that you make many things wrong/inefficient, that is the beatuy of the game. Finding out how you solve the logistic challenges. I picked up the game some month ago and see simlar mistakes, that makes me happy
for your info . your cant send nuke to space with a rocket..
if your want then on other planet . you ship the uranium
Best part of Gleba is that you unlock the rocket turret, which you can put nuclear rockets into.
Nice shout out nilaus. You and him need to have a factory duel
Kibitz = Kaboom!
I like seeing people trying stuff by themself. I think factorio is at it's best with a bit of chaos. As soon as I'm on christmass break I plan to start working on a mod and one of my goal is to make things different enough that the "correct" way to play doesn't apply. Omg the kovarex... XD
The factory must grow
Having the Sactorio and Fatifsactory series running at the same time is an excellent contrast
Fatifsactory sounds like something Pyronical feels sometimes....
I hope Kibs looks into a city block base instead of a main bus. They use a lot of choos!
Wow, that's a LOT of Kovarex. You'll have all the 235 you could need but might actually have issues supplying 238.
I dont even play Factorio, I'm here just cuz you're entertaining
i would recommend you the Calculator Mod. Its better for new Players too plan out Factorys and the Output. It gives you a better unterstanding of what you are doing and how the Numbers work for each Step.
I've heard that building nuclear reactors on nuked tiles boosts the output.
it works even better, if you launch a nuke towards a fully heated up reactor, so much so that it produces yearly energy yield in about 0.03 seconds
MrKibitz you need to put a tank down for both heavy and light oil then put a pump that only starts once tank has 20k of heavy or light oil ( connect the red wire from pump to tank then set filter on the pump, the red wire is the red R looking button on the hud top left on the bar) or you will be screwed once you need lubricant and rocket fuel in bulk!
top right on the bar even =oP
Your bus is gonna make future Kibs so upset. Pretty soon you will find out that a single belt of green circuits cannot move enough circuits to run even part of your base. It is common for a bus of 6+ belts of just green circuits.

P.S. Gleba will make you cry. Or scream. Perhaps both. Do NOT go to Gleba first.
great video
You didn’t even watch it liar
once you got the nuclear bomb nad pointed it to the reactors, i was like PLS NOT AGAIN
Any suggestions I'd have aren't really relevant, 'cause a near majority of my playtime now has been in development of a cellular hexagonal train network with self-expanding capabilities.
I dont know crap about factorio. I have been enjoying the series just as it was.
I loved the last episode, as it showed a nice change from people min maxing the fun, and looking and how to do everything before enjoying playing the thing itself.
So much to do so much to see come see the journey at the real DIsney👌
Meme time: Kibz+nuclear
"gonna speed things up.."
Not with those few belts of resources! Lol
BTW your not 20% in to SA yet. 😂
your main bus hurts me. Its like your main spaget. legit noodles
Kinda funny that the atomic age came after the space age here in this playthrough
Who said the pacing was slow? You're practically frantic.
Have you tryed Astro Colony? It is fun to automate.
FORGET THEM If youre having fun IM HAVING FUN WATCHING
KIBITZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!
I think its funny when beginners make stupid beginner mistakes, no idea how it makes people angry. Only thing I would recommend against is copying blueprints from the internet. Ty for the episode cant w8 for the next.
Oh boy... I only saw nuclear...so I assumed it was another melt down in satisfactory xD but here we are in Factorio xD
I wonder how will different planets look like with the night vision mod
I love that you spend time fixing plastic to ignore the plastic productivity research... my personal favorite part!! :)
I read this title and I thought I was missing something... I tought it was satisfactory 😂
Sunglasses item from a mod? What do they do? thx :) Great content Kibitz!
I mean sure you have space science but its still in early automation.
Erm, actually, that's not a beacher it's an erlenmeyer flasque ☝️🤓
For people saying the pacing was slow, are you sure they meant your actions and not the release schedule?
🤷♂ The actual videos seemed fine, I just wish we got them more often :D
Dude does Kibz sleep? With the hours he must be putting into the satisfactory series, i'm actually surprised he picked up Factorio at all 😅
1:47 indeed it is very fun to watch
and you get milion comments from these making your channel statisctics better xd
22:21
The US in 1945
it's fine to learn by playing, haters back off
pressing the like button? in this economy? you must be mad, kib
Just want to point out that tutorial IS a part of the game and things it explains are not MEANT to be obscure and the game might not have another way to discover them, thus causing unnecessary limitations and complexity.
i really just give me something to see you miss something, that later in the game if you dont read/look the tutorial ,YOU WILL GO MAD
That's the worst Kovarex loop I have ever seen. The nuclear setup is also SUPER inefficient. You should have steam storage and logistics to only use fuel cells when needed instead of wasting them.
hi
He went from refusing to look at the tutorial to using a Nilaus blueprint and speeding up the game with a mod...
Got baited thinking it was satisfactory
Factory is Factory :)
Both factories must grow.
