Love these cards. I have used the alcohol prints for cutting balloons for birthday cards. They turned out cute. Plus if you have any areas that are sticky after they dry you can stick gold foil to it i dont use mine often but they are fun.
Hi Sasha. Wow, these cards really are stunning. TFS the tip of photo paper. Oh no to your poor mat. I hope that you do eventually manage to get rid of the stain. Keep well. God bless. 💖🤗
I've tried the photo paper the straw the turkey baister I've tried everything with no avail. Not until I tried the yupo paper with the small air compressor did I ever enjoy this procedure. Oh my gosh I dont need to use alot of the ink inorder or get the desired results that i truly love. Wahoo I love it.
I've recently been putting down eyeglass cleaner on photo paper before using alcohol inks (gives more fluidity to alcohol inks). Then after all dry I use hairspray as fixative for metallic inks.
Hi Sasha. I have bought some alcohol ink recently and tried, but totally made a mess on printer paper 🤣. I bought yupo paper to try more, but still never had time to try that out. I now know you should try the back of the printing paper and use normal alcohol to make better blending results. You made great cards with them! Awesome ideas! 🥰👍🏻
Very pretty. I have never used that much alcohol ink. I usually put on a few drops of different colors on felt with some blending solution and then smoosh it around the paper and it turns out great.
Thank you so much! I have wanted to try alcohol inks for so long, but didn't want to spend a fortune, so this is great for me, I'll get some and have a try! Nicola x
Great video.. just got back from my local craft shop to get a couple things & they're having a 50% off closing sale! So bought MORE alcohol inks, amongst a couple of hundred dollars worth of other stuff 😆 & get home & see your latest video! So thankyou thankyou thankyou 💓 Oh.. and before Yupo became a thing, I use gloss cardstock. I've been stamping for 24 yrs & have always used gloss card for alcohol inks
Hi Sasha I watched a video the other day they placed hand sanitizer on the bottom layer then tricked ink on top and it bloomed ( made circles instantly). Have fun 🤩
I have always purchased gloss card stock which is I think clay coated and buffed. It allows the inks to move perfectly. I have not compared cost to yupo so idk if better or worse. Also Grafix makes a plastic paper that is less than yupo. Photo paper is meant to hold inks in place by design and I think both the coated stock and the plastic stock do better for getting the inks to move.
I would guess with the alcohol pearl inks, you do get what you pay for. Obviously, as you demonstrated, the knock-offs don't work in the end. If you really want the pearlescent colors, I would recommend saving and getting the legitimate Tim Holtz inks. Just my two-cents' worth. I do really like how your panels & cards came together. I also learned the hard way that alcohol inks stain silicone or Teflon mats! I generally use the slick side of freezer paper, even though I hate the waste when I have to throw it away. I do have a glass mat, but I'm afraid to try and maybe ruin it with the inks! It is an older mat, but still quite useful for intricate cutting with my craft knife & using with my Fuse tool. And the new ones are rather costly, so.... Anyway, thank you for sharing your playtime. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
@@SashaReade i know it… the last 3 years i was rushing like I would be on some crazy race😝 this week my son started nursery and I literally cannot believe that it is evening and I’m sitting and watching UA-cam second time this week instead of running like headless chicken between kitchen and craftroom🤣🤣
That’s an incredible amount of alcohol ink to put down. I tend to use much less and make use of the alcohol or blender solution so the inks flow easier. I also use craft glossy paper ( not photo paper - there is a big difference) and an equivalent to Mylar which does the same at a little less of a price. Each to her own - the fun of crafting is experimenting with craft mediums and coming up with different outcomes. Great idea for a quick card.
Sasha, I like you have been collecting alchohol inks and I've yet to attempt something new. So I guess I don't really have an excuse now. Will give it a go. Thanks
What a great idea for such a pretty, yet simple card. I'm not sure if I have commented on any of the 10 minute card videos but I think they are wonderful
ha ha you're probably mixing me and Natasha Foote up, she's just started 10 minute videos, i do the half hour ones ha ha. It's all about being short on time though isnt it! We need to find ways to get creative when we havent got much time :) Thank you so much for hanging out with me
You must of read my mind lol.. I was cleaning out my garage the other day and came across a box of photo paper and thought the same with trying my alcohol inks! Now I know they will work, thanks Sasha 😊
Gorgeous backgrounds! Maybe you could try waterless hand cleaner or baby shampoo in a bit of water to clean your mat. At least the stains may fade a little.
oh gosh, i'll give it a go, but im pretty sure i've proper stained it! ha ha, lesson learned! Hopefully it helps people before they make the same mistake as me
in case you're interested - if you use branded paper, the brand mark disappears under the alcohol ink and you can't see it. Just gives you more options than having to find unbranded stuff :)
Question. How did you dry yupo paper? Mine never did dry. It was sticky till I pretty much had to toss them in the garbage. Which was months later. I really don't like yuppo. But I do like photo paper.
You're inks won't move as well on the shiny part of the photo paper as they tend to stick to it, if you use photo paper, try the back of it. I use it all the time, the results are totally different
the Tim Holtz ones- proper branded ones. The cheapo ones from Ali Express just rubbed right off. I have a feeling they were just mica powder and alcohol- no binding agent. If you want the metallic ones i would search for Tim Holtz/Ranger brands! I will try to find a link, couldnt see them on Amazon when i was searching, i'll see if i can find another shop just so there's a link to something
Hay Sasha. Did you hear about making the alcohol blending solution. I heard about it from Susie Shanlian 2 oz of 91% alcohol and three drops of vegetable glycerin!!!
Another tip to stop your inks staining everywhere is just to laminate a sheet of paper or card and work on that. You can wipe off the alcohol inks with the alcohol easier then throw it away if it gets too scruffy and use another one. I did some A3, cheap too :)
Gorgeous backgrounds!! I can't use alcohol inks due to the fumes 🤨 Can I do a similar technique with oxide destress inks please? I might have a play around 😁
yes this would work with oxides or exploding powders, im doing things with these again for tomorrows video, if i remember i will do a little alternative demo with non alcohols!
I hope you didn't throw away your pearls away! They need the blending solution to be permanent (rather than the isopropyl alcohol.) I had the same problem and recently learned why!
I did think that, but i think hairspray is alcohol?? So i thought it might activate and shift the colours. I might try that tomorrow just to see. I would love those cheap ones to be useful!
I’ve used the same alcohol inks as you, on yupo paper….used blending solution and a touch of I.Alcohol and yet they haven’t dried…..it’s been over a month…in the U.K! I’m not talking sopping wet but if you rub your finger on it your finger will have colour on it….puts me off using them again….help!! I can’t send them as a card in case anyone touches them!
Sasha, I have watched several videos on Yupo paper alternatives. They say that photo paper is a great option, but not all photo papers work. Also, use the back of the photo paper on some-it works better. Kirkland (from Costco in the states) is one of the best, although they no longer sell it. I found a huge 8 1/2 x 11" pack at a thrift store for a couple of dollars! Here is a link to Mary Polanco's video where she does alcohol ink on the front and back of HP photo paper. I don't think the metallic rubbed off. ua-cam.com/video/74xcgbqTazc/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MaryPolanco Also many said they use glossy paper. I have not had luck with glossy paper, but then again, it may depend on which brand you use.
i never used water in my video, only alcohol. The stuff i used to try to remove it was alcohol which has the higher alcohol content than a hand sanitiser, but sadly it's permanently stained. Ive got a glass board to use now which works a treat
Great cards! I love seeing your trial and error, too, to keep us from making the same mistakes! Thank you!
Beautiful, Beautiful cards Sasha! 🤗 Blessings My Friend
Now I have to go shopping again. Thanks Sasha. 🤣🤣🤣 Actually they are terrific cards. Will have to track down some ink and try it. Thank you.
There are soooooo many cheap ones out there, just google alcohol inks and you'll find some!
Love these cards. I have used the alcohol prints for cutting balloons for birthday cards. They turned out cute. Plus if you have any areas that are sticky after they dry you can stick gold foil to it i dont use mine often but they are fun.
ohhhhhhh yes some foil transfer sheets would be great!

Thank you Noreen! I am going to make a few more tomorrow! I love the effects i was getting. Smelly, but fun!
@@SashaReade I hope you manage to record it for us to see. I wonder if there's any way to control these inks within a shape 🤔

Hi Sasha, very nice cards!! It’s good to see the comparison between cheaper verses branded products, thanks for doing that, take care.

Love the simplicity of the cards. Thank you for sharing!
The cards are beautiful!

Love these. Beautiful cards. Hadn't worked out you could use photo paper. Great tip thank you.
I just thought yuppo is like plastic paper, so i thought surely photo paper is like that, and it worked, wahoooo
Wow that’s is nice . Just love it
Awesome can’t wait to try
Great projects! Thank you for sharing.
Nice colors are so vibrant. I have all of these alcohol markers so I may need to get started making some backgrounds like this. Thanks for sharing.

Cute cards!

Thank you Carol :)
Looking good!
I spray them with cheap hairspray and the metallic ink doesn’t rub off of photo paper. 🙂❤️
ACE!!!! I was going to try that today, so awesome hearing someone has already tried and tested!
Love these, especially the star burst card. Really beautiful.
Love the cards especially the star burst one. Keep the ideas coming girl!

What lovely cards!! I will be giving this a try!! Thanks for sharing!!
Love your cards! The Starburst stamps from Alina is so effective
If you use the blending solution, it has a binder which should help them stick. Tim H says you have to use it with his metallics. :)

Another winner Sasha. Fab results but what a shame about your stained pad. Thnx for the top tips X.
Thank you lizzie, and i went out and got a glass cutting board today for tomorrows video to protect the work surface!

those backgrounds are gorgeous.. love them...thanks for sharing with us..how's the house hunting going? have you found a house yet?
we have found one! It's all the crazy paper work and long waiting periods now. I will do an update in a video once things are moving!
If the inks are staining your mat will the white cover the stains you already have? or at least quiet them down.
ha ha, good thought, i could try it...
When using alcohol ink in resin the white pulls the colours through the project being done which is why it's blobby on paper 😊
oh good to know! Im having so much fun with these! I might have to try resin soon....
Really Like this! Just a little confused...which inks did you use to NOT smudge? So pretty, thank you!

totally, a nice simple strip!

I use a glass cutting mat for all my card making.
What about IA first then the jnks would that blend better and stop them setting so quickly?
oh might do! I still have so much playing and learning to do :) Thanks for the tip!
