- Hi, this video shows you how to replace the front and rear windscreen wipers on a Volkswagen Golf MK7, the car in the video is from 2015. It is a very simple job to do yourself and you do not need any tools.

I've done this a couple times and just to answer the question that everyone is probably thinking- yes you can use a Spongebob beach towel instead of a blanket.

Really strange, second time I need to replace the wipers since I got the car and twice it was the small wiper that had the exact same issue like you have/had.Second time I had Valeo wipers on it since I couldn't get the Bosch ones. So happy to now have the Bosch ones again.
nearly 3 years later the same job is £42 from Halfords, £28 from ebay / amazon for fakes of course. I gotta do it myself now

I drive a RHD steering car, but in a country where we drive on the right !
I've gotten so used to my car steering on the wrong side, if I go to change gear in a normal one, I reach into the door looking for the gearstick haha
Excellent video as usual Vince. Didn't know about the service mode, I changed mine with the wipers in the normal position. Every day is a school day.

I broke my windshield (windscreen), while changing the wipers. I can appreciate your advice. I have been changing wipers for years, however this time, it slipped from my fingers and snapped back tot the glass. I was so mad. I had just replaced it after a rock had done its business. The same guy from Safelite came out for repairs. No one said a word, just get the job done...
Top tip: If you are caught short for wipers and need to get them locally Halfords will price match Bosch Aero blades in store if you can find a UK website that have them cheaper. Just show one of the staff the webpage on your smartphone and they will price match. I got Aero wipers for £13 each for my Saab when they were £25 in store.
Why don't you just buy it from the website?

Have a VW Polo from 2017, and think they use the same blades. Putting the blades in service mode was particularly useful to know. Thanks!

Just Kidding, I only replaced the silicon/rubber wiper blades about four months ago "TWICE!!!, Oh and the thief who stole the first lot "CURSE YOU!!!" You hear! {mumble-grumble} :(
Mind you Vince I don't drive a Golf, but rather I cruise around in a Yaris, therefore I am exposed to a lot more potential "Low life riff-raff.".

I thought the video description said "Replacing Front& Rear Windscreen". "oooh, that's gonna be interesting ^o^" So I was a tiny bit disappointed it was just windscreen wipers. But with You getting better at things, I wouldnt be too surprised if its the actual windscreens next time *lol*

How hard can be I thought. Well if it wasn't for this video I would be at the VW dealers. Full of tips mainly the the service mode position and its all in the the wriggling to get the wiper out after depressing the button and angle down to get the new one home. Cheers to you Vince.screen wiper.

I am so stupid that my VW car garage has charged me 75 euro to change front Viper. I have Golf 2018. I used to have Honda and i paid 100euros in 2018. I thought i am getting a good deal at Volkswagen.

I've got a MK7.5 and for me the 650mm was too long.. kept catching on the smaller wiper blade.. so had to get the 600mm and it's spot on🙏🏽

Strange...Your steering wheel seems to be on the wrong side of the car?
Bought my blade for the passenger side at Halfords, when I got the home found the package included four fittings for different cars,these were Bosch, no understandable instruction on what bracket to use or how to fix it. My husband worked it out but to complicated for me.
Vince, when you accomplish something like inserting the wiper blade, instead of saying, "like that," go ahead as say something along the lines, "Bob's your uncle" or "Robert's your auntie's husband," just for the rest of us who can't get enough of that, as if no one ever says it in the States.
Had no idea those squares were little buttons. Now I can go and buy my new ones and do it myself, thanks!

Very helpful. Impossible job without the tip about using the key in the ignition!
Little tip especially when removing front wipers, bend the blade to wards the sky when pulling out. I struggled to wiggle it out otherwise.

Another comment, I had the fortune of being aquatinted with a General Motors wiper engineer. Of all the jobs, yes there's an engineer for that. She said, replace them every six moths no matter how well they work. The rubber oxidizes and degrades out in the sun and weather.
So if they are working well, what is the point of changing them? I have had the same wipers for 2 years in harsh northern USA winters and they still wipe away rain? My windshield as well is free from any scratches or I'll effects from 2 years old wipers. Perhaps the engineer is worried about job security :)
Seeing your MK7, makes me miss mine. Mine was a 2013 ‘13’ 1.6 TDi, in reflex silver. I still remember my neighbours face, when I pulled up on my drive, it was like they thought I’d won the lottery 😂😂. Oh, I was one of the first people to get a ‘13’ reg on the day of release (1st March)

Vince really? Windscreen Wiper replacment? What comes next how to brush your teeth? Vince i like your videos with Fixing stuff and trying out new things. But this looks to me like making more Videos for more cash. I know i dont need to watch it. But this wasnt something what i subscribed for.
Yeah that is exactly what they are. The truth is it is these videos that make the money. Trying to fix videos take me 1 to 2 days to film and edit and 90% of them make very little money. My original channel idea was a 'how to' channel so I will still be releasing 'how to' videos. The titles are always truthful so before watching you should be able to get an idea of whether or not it is for you :-) What may seem very simple to my knowledgeable subs may not be simple to other viewers that may not be as hands on. I think videos like this are really useful to the wider community. I know many people that would worry to change out the wipers on their car when it is so simple to do once you see how easy it can be. Unfortunately I like 99% of the population need to work for a living, if the money doesn't come in then I can't do UA-cam. Videos like this and other 'how to' pay for and allow me to do the other vids on the channel. I love doing the fix it vids but I also love a nice simple vid that takes 30 mins to film, 1 hour to edit and pays for itself in the first month. Not saying this wiper one will be successful...time will tell :-)

Without those harder content. I know good content takes time. Not like those click bate only channels. You couldn't get much views with this simple videos.
Yes some probably dont know how to replace wiper. But i be sure they could ask other people, family, or you even could ask where you buy those wipers if they could replace it. Just ask people in the Parking lot. I be sure they would like to help them. This takes just a minute. Just talk to each other, dont be afraid.
For you vince. How about finding supporter or reviewing stuff?

@@AdmrlSpeedy personally I believe you shouldn't even have your license if you don't at least know how to do basic maintenance. I'm not saying that you have to do it every time but you need to know how.

Beats me why the 'car experts' on here are moaning about the simple task in this video. Don't watch if it offends you. The majority of drivers have no interest other than basic maintenance and find videos like this useful when carrying out the occasional maintenance job not worth paying for. Keep up the good work Vince!
