Ditto- the title was just a passing phrase I had heard growing up, but I'm actually kind of optimistic about this adaptation, which is rather unusual these days!
Haven't been more excited about film, since I was a child back in 01 when the fellowship of the ring came out. Looks like DW is putting in the work, and millions in capital to give us one of a kind content that I will bet. Is going to be generational. Highest praise I can give
looks awesome. My most anticipated show by far thats out there. I love everything king arthur, merlin and camelot, and this looks great quality.
I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: I'm stoked for this show to come out. I feel like everything we watch should come out with behind the scenes like these because they are awesome!

Rereading the first book
I'm moving to Indiana in August, and I swear, if this show debuts while I'm incapable of watching it, Imma be so pissed lol

The guy who is in charge of the horses is the same guy who did it for the Witcher, he is a pro. In fact, I think Brett rode on the horse that plays Roach either in the show or during rehearsals. Or something along those lines.

I have questions about the functionality of that sword design but dang is it pretty. Sometimes that's all you really need out of a fantasy weapon.
Well, historically a lot of ceremonial swords have been questionable. Sometimes it's more about the craft vs the function.

Trying to figure out how many of the novels I need to read to be prepped for the show. I'm done with Taliesin and Merlin, but being at Caer Loch is making me think I might need to read more maybe? I know Lot is an adult at the end of book 2, but I don't remember Merlin going to Caer Loth in either book so far... do I need to read Arthur, too?
Jeremy said, off the cuff, in a live all access production diary showing that the 1st season covers roughly Taliesin and half of Merlin. Watching the production diaries, I'm thinking that it's more like 5/6ths or 7/8ths of Merlin. The part at Caer Loth will be explained when you read Arthur, but chronologically takes place during the timeline of the book Merlin.

Arthurian myths I've read say that Excalibur's sheath is even more powerful than the sword itself, allowing whomever possesses the sheath to not be injured. Arthur foolishly loses the sheath, and has to rely on the sword's might alone, which is ultimately what led to him being killed.
Sword of Britain looks good.

Another series where people with blond hair have brown or black eyebrows. Why? I don't get it. It's not a big deal, don't read this comment harsher than it's meant to be. It just baffles me how everyone seems to invest millions into set pieces and costumes and what not and then keep the eyebrows dark so that it's more obvious the hair is a wig or dyed.
That may come out in post production, but I hear you
It might have to do with what shows up on camera better? Like blond eyebrows will often disappear under bright lights and that’ll make the actor’s expressions seem more muted. People act with their brows a lot 😂. I could be totally wrong but that was my first thought. 🤷🏻♀️

I really wish they would just drop the facade of trying to be “historically accurate” in any way because this show really won’t be. So don’t say it’s something it’s not.
Historically accurate would be too drab and boring to look at. But I think they mean as compared to your typical king arthur movie that's filmed like its the high middle ages instead of 5th century Britain right after Rome wothdrew and before the Saxons/Angles/Jutes overwhelmed the Celtic peoples left behind.
@@JW_______ The worst part is about that is the actual 5th century is far from “Drab and boring”. But I guess it doesn’t matter who’s making your movie/show when all the studios think the early Middle Ages/Migration era had a permanent grey filter with wolf skins duct tapped on everything.

The space primarily depicted in this production video, Caer Loch, is sepcifically supposed to look bleak because of the characters who live there (from the books).
@@JW_______ well fist I’d like to preface that I haven’t read the original books so for all I know these sets could be bang on with that.
And of course there’s room for a bleak and gloomy atmosphere in some areas. But if they wanted to actually put an emphasis on historical accuracy you could start with lighting and decorations. If you’ve ever seen the true inside of a castle you’d never see a torch on the inside (you’d smoke the crap out of all your guests) so candles and various forms of lantern would be used (and if you’re poor maybe rush lights) and many of the walls would be plastered and hung with tapestries and other accoutrements, which if you want this particular castle to be more bleak you could have those thing in various states of disrepair. And that’s not even touching on the armor and other costumes.

In the books, there's variation between the different tribes and locations in Britain. Some celtic peoples, in the South, are more Romanized, while others in the West and North hold closer to the pre-Roman ways and in fact return more to that as the book series progresses after the departure of the Roman legions under Maximus

I think it was either personality clash, or about Candace criticizing Israel operations in Gaza, which seems to be a third rail at DW. I'm not fully on board with DW on that, but I'm not going to say that they have to pay to produce content that goes against what they apparently hold to be a core value.

Stop playing identity politics. As a lifelong Christian, I find it shady, and a failure to faithfully follow Christ. Just because Candace Owens used bible verses in her public disputes with Ben Shapiro, does not ipso facto, retroactvely make their dispute about her faith. You can't coopt the nature and reson for the debate and make yourself an identity politics victim just by choosing to appeal to Christian truths that are unrelated to the debate.
