- I present, review and tell the story behind "Older" - the outstanding 1996 album by George Michael.
The original 1 LP vinyl version has been sold 2.nd hand for over $/€ 300 - but now there is a 2LP version and a 3LP/5CD box-set available. They are great.
Release date was pushed back so many times, I was beginning to think this thing never existed.
This was George Michael's favourite album. So glad it's finally been given the vinyl treatment. 🙂
Agree - I've wanted it on vinyl for years. Even considered going for the org. XXX-expensive LP. But now it's here 🤩

Fully agree that Older is truly excellent - I have grown older myself listening and listening - but that album stays young , ontop of mind and keeps massaging ones ears 😍🤩
Very nice review. I also received the 2LP on the 30th. It's a beautiful package for the money (high quality gatefold) and flat, clean and silent records. I think it sounds a bit more lush and warm than the original CD, which I like. I'm very happy to have this one in my collection. You deserved yourself a new subscriber ;).

Ha-ha, I also came to think of the ‘Fony’ earphones when listening to the part about the Sony breakup - fun that you mentioned it here. Enhoy you box set - if you ever got hold of one. Will be seriously looking for one myself - though no big interest in the CD’s, as I don’t have a CD-player anymore - only vinyl.

Was it a digital source? This is from George Michael's website: This iconic album is now available as a 2LP gatefold on 180g vinyl beautifully remastered from the original tapes.
I think it must have been digital tapes (being recorded in the mid-90’s). Also there is nowhere mentioned “original analogue tapes” which I think they would have done if it wasn’t from digital. Thanks for your comment.

I fully understand - it's great!
I have now listened to the 3 "Mixes"-cds that was in the box set, and they really don't add to the overall experience . So except for the booklet, there is not much gained in buying the box in stead of the 2LP version (and you save quiet some money).
There’s another version of Fastlove called the Summer mix. It’s slower and only available on the Remix CD single of Fastlove. This is why…I’m guessing it’s not available on this boxset. 😢😢
The Fastlove A/C Summer-mix is included in the box set - first tune on the first of the 3 Mixes-cds 😊
The 3 cd's also contain 5 - five! - other Fastlove-mixes (Promo Edit, Forthright Extended 12" Mix, Fastlove II - Fully Extended Mix, Forthright 7" Mix and Forthright Dub Remix)
@@Claus-CaptainPhoenixCorner someone said…that’s not the Summer Mix. But, I can’t say because I don’t have the boxset version. I have all those remixes on the Remix CD which I have to be honest…haven’t listen to in years.
@@tturner12341 I'm pretty sure it is the Summer-mix. It's also mentioned in the booklet in the box set.

@@Claus-CaptainPhoenixCorner I don’t remember the guy’s name. But, it was under the video where the guy was reviewing a Japanese version of Older. And the boxset and didn’t have a lot of good things to say about it.

I hate warped records. Did you send yours back or did you keep it. I received my Madonna Finally Enough Love double LP set from Rhino Records and it too was very warped. I contacted Rhino Records (Warner Bros. Records) and they sent me free of charge a new copy. Perfectly flat records this time. So contact Sony Music. They should send you a new boxset.
I've contacted the seller here in DK and expect to get replacements soon.
I bought the 2 lp. I've hears it many times in cd. This version is Amazing. Pun intended

And it would be good to get his next album in a great vinyl version as well - buy we need to have Patience 😉
@@Claus-CaptainPhoenixCorner Once all the legal stuff has been sorted. Sony have been very respectful with this release. Possibly EQ'd with more bass. I like it. The musicality really does George justice.

If there is one George Michael album, one will like (maybe even love), I think it's Older.
And I think the 2LP set is sufficient - I have now listened to the 3 extra cds w. mixes etc., and they don't ad anything important to the experience.
