Regarding the comment that one would expect harmony given bottom-up causation: one could say the very opposite as well (one would expect harmony given top-down causation). Or even both if you’re Leibniz. I get that they believe there are empirical reasons for being reductive about life. It’s just that I think the reason objected to above is poor.
