I gotta say. That motor design and size is very impressive. Andre is right, if they did the gravity FIRST and the Air second, things would look totally different right now
If the Gravity SUV starts below 80K then it should qualify for the US federal tax 7,500 credit and now makes the SUV cost 72,500 which makes it more affordable with 440 mile range wow. Love the air suspension will make those long trips more comfortable and 112 cubic feet is plenty of room. Huge step forward for the company and with the new phase 2 buildings at Amp-1 coming online this will be a great use for that increased capacity.
Thanks for the great first look Andre!! If Lucid can slot Gravity models with >=350 miles in that $80-90K price point, Merc and BMW will have some serious competition.
Wow quite impressive SUV with a great compact motor with great range starting below 80K. Love the interior and a large frunk and the fact that you can change the mood inside the vehicle This is quite a beautiful SUV with so many features.
I find it hilarious when all these dummy’s say “electric vehicles are not selling” have you gone to see dealers lately? The lots are loaded and not selling. It’s due to the rates and people struggling to pay mortgage rates. Nothing to do with electric vehicles.
The fact EVs today can't do it all same as hybrids or better economy cars have plenty to do with it, if i could only spend 40k on car, i ain't getting 250 mile range EV, even if i could spent double, i'ts not gonna be my only car because of it's charge network and resale dump due to batteries
Appreciate this point. EV sales are more sensitive to interest rates because people are willing to stretch their budgets for an EV because they rightly believe the savings in maintenance and fuel will offset the larger loan amount. When the interest rates are high this math/justification/tradeoff doesn't work out as well.
Great reveal Andre. This is a good looking vehicle in a nice package. Lucid has a promising entry into the SUV market with this layout. Its on the high end of the market price range, but could be a sweeter deal if the MSRP sits below $80k for the base variant to make the tax benefit work out. I would be interested in this EV, and look forward to getting more details from Lucid. The 2025 model year is coming up fast, I wonder if this will not slip into 2026?
I don't really get the thinking behind "Lucid should have started with the Gravity" mentality. Lucid looks great. They took down Tesla's flagship with a higher performance, higher range, higher build quality, and higher attention to detail super sedan. Then they did it again with the Sapphire which Jason Camisa claims is the best handling vehicle of all time. Lucid proved they make the better product and without acting like fools on social media. Now the gravity has arrived to sell volume to the families of 7. If I ever buy a Lucid even if its not the Air that I purchase it will be because of what the Air did. I certainly don't need or want a 3 row SUV. Not only that, the EV adoptors are ravenous: EV people tune in to every single EV launch regardless of body style. So it made no real difference in what order they launched. Might as well wow the people most likely to buy the vehicle from the start, then work towards the mainstream once their impression was solidified
Style looks good and the range is phenomenal 440miles to a charge and $80K Polestar should be concerned!!! Agreed Lucid should of launched with this vehicle.
Most SUVs today are renamed wagons (with a smashed tail). Silly consumers don't like to hear 'wagon' or hatchbacks, even though most xUVs are wagons, and almost all are hatchbacks. All that said, that is a better-looking vehicle than the Teslas, but the price puts it out of reach for most people.
Nobody's silly. SUVs are taller, hence better visibility and easier to get in and out. Yes, the body type is called a wagon, but that doesn't mean you can put the equal sign between an SUV and an actual wagon. Btw, tge fact that trunk lid is a hatch doesn't mean they're hatchbacks. Wagon is not a subclass of hatchbacks, it's a separate body type, at least in modern understanding.
I'd absolute love this SUV! Would be perfect for my family. Sucks that I'd never be able to afford it, even the "base" price is way too much. I'll be scraping my savings just to be able to finance an Aptera.
This looks pretty nice and I would have taken a hard look this summer when I was trying to decide among and X, S an waiting for a Polestar 3 (probably should have looked at an R1S, but didn’t seem like I could really get one of those either). I thought hard about an X, but ended up with an S because I really can’t stand the doors or the way the glass roof looked from the inside. The S is great, but living in they mountains, I’d prefer more ground clearance and the ability to through more stuff in the back. Being able to sit in the frunk would also be great. This does seem like a great idea and I suspect they’ll have much better luck with the than the Air. That said, Rivian will have a few years experience with the R1S by the time this comes along, so that may also be pretty compelling. Just hoping the charging issues for non-Teslas get to a point where a non-Tesla EV is really a viable option - still not the case, in my view.

I hope lucid stays in business to start selling the gravity. Lucid has always been stingy in giving test drives. I really admire their engineering prowess but they need to sell them to be in business.
Have they really? I heard at one point they offered free test drives to Tesla owners at supercharging stations. It was a great marketing strategy. Have time to kill while you charge? Come test drive our Lucid!
122 kilowatt battery is small you say. It's only 80 grand you say. Lucid has great technology you say. What you didn't say is that there financed by the Saudi government and if not for that they would be bankrupt. Also they lose value immensely after you purchase there vehicles. I'm not an EV fan but if I'm spending over 80 grand for an EV SUV give me a Tesla model X plaid. At least Tesla isn't financed by the Saudi government and will not be bankrupt anytime soon.
Let’s say the price is not an issue because you have money, but even if you do, the car can be well over $200,000. And after you pay all that money, the 440 mile range is not enough, when you have no place to charge. So basically what you have is an under 200 mile radius from your home, car.
I don’t think you get it. They didn’t build this first because you can’t set efficiency and range records in an SUV to show you are the technologically dominant company
A ground up SUV yet the rear windows don't go all the way down. That's just a poor door design. Also, integrated headrest seats should never be in a family SUV.
No, they shouldn't build this first, that would be a silly mistake. They first built a relatively lower volume expensive halo car and only after that a somewhat more affordable and and much more in demand family hauler. They did it the right way.
Prius Prime (new one) has an option for that. I'm sure it's coming, assuming the glass roof trend fades. Solar tech can also be integrated into transparent, or semi transparent glass, but I'm not familiar with the efficiency levels.
That looks a lot like a vw id4. The front tire to bumper lengths, the shape of the grill. The shape of the roof. Is this badge engineering at its finest?
$80k for an electrified Tahoe 😅 With the prices of new vehicles I bet auto restoration shops will be popping up all over… Can you imagine the replacement cost of that windshield/sunroof. This huge expanse of glass is one thing in an aircraft where there not dealing with rocks etc being kicked up. But in a vehicle where the drivers are typically following too it’s a very poor design. Insurance costs will be going up to cover these designs.
Well, yes it's better then 200k but it's still 80... Unfortunately it's not good enough time yet to justify 80k on EV if that's the only vehicle person can afford, 80k plugin hybrid would be far better choice today
In what way would a hybrid be better? It would be heavier, wouldn't fit in terms of packaging an engine, add to complexity and cost... fail all around. BEV is way better all around. Jump in, the water's warm.
@@Aegisx5 Complexity of regular hybrids is still the CON yes, I meant RAV4 style hybrid where electric motors are mechanically separated from the front And Where charging will never be issue because it will run on a ice engine alone if necessary
1:09 wow! See VOLVO ? Turns out folding seats flat doesn't have to compromise its rear seat luxury ! You just need to pull back at the aggressive minimalist direction you chose recently. This is more like the luxury a true "Scandinavian" would buy. My only let down is the lack of hands-off, AND eyes-off (and legal) pilot system that Volvo will be offering soon.
Whats the point of adding 4 massive motors with a combined 800+ hp in an electric car? The whole point of these stupid cars is to replace gas and be "environmentally friendly" and yet they all try to be as heavy as possible instead of focusing on being cheap with as much range as possible. Nothing environmentally friendly about having to charge every 100 miles.
I am disappointed that they have those HUGE rear blind spots, it is not very affordable and the company is owned by the Saudi's sovereign wealth fund :( The rear view looks like a Lincoln, the side profile looks like a Pacifica :(
Nice looking vehicle, but Lucid needs to sell these in profit, which they cant do. And for 80k vehicle, economy of scale is not possible in this economy.
