It works instantly and doesn’t show on smaller spectrum tests. It’s likely the other tests only tested for certain blood markers, but then just before the fight they did a more comprehensive blood test

In Lucian Bute's case, he tested positive due to a contaminated supplement, he was cleared of any wrong doing. That one was an interesting case in how they were able determine and prove his case you look into it. When Bute's case happened I kept a close eye on it and when the news of Ryan's positive test came out it was the first thing I thought of since Ryan claimed it was unintentional and trace amounts from a supplement he was taking. With Bute they got a sealed container directly from the production facility and did find trace amounts of the banned substance despite the containers saying banned substance free on it. If I'm not mistaken they said the amount was so small it wouldn't have made a difference during his fight with Jack, but did cause a positive test result. Hypothetically, the could follow the same process with the supplements Garcia was taking.
Well that explains his behavioral changes many were pointing out before the fight. Also coming off his first loss it makes sense he'd try something drastic. So yeah, not surprising.

This is one of the times when I wonder if fixing the weight divisions also solves these weight-related drug cheat problems. If boxers don't have to drain themselves to near-death by assigning the boxers to their proper weight class, then maybe these issues would be less prevalent as well. I'm thinking that their previous fight night weight would be their new weight class, e.g. super-featherweights who balloon to 147 overnight would be welterweights, and welterweights who balloon to 160 would be middleweights. idk maybe this is stupid and I'm forgetting important details that makes this unfeasible.
same day weigh ins used to be relatively standard for boxing up until the early to mid 80s but when an event that has millions of dollars of build up, promotion, etc behind it gets suddenly cancelled last minute, that is usually FAR worse for the business side than getting cancelled the day before. they solved one problem by creating another really bad one but what can you do. also who are you why am i subscribed to you

Even major testing agencies like USADA and VADA can't test for the majority of PEDS since all this technology is super new and they still don't know how to recognise some drugs thorougly like EPO. But doctors give masking agents to their athletes to hide the ions that are released by this drug therefore it doesnt show up in the test. Exteremly complicated but one things for sure, Ryan tested positive.
