Learned way more in this short video than in 10 hours of biology classes
learnt more in 5 minutes then i have in a month of lectures
Yeah seriously
In lytic the bacteria becomes dead
In lysogenic the bacteria survives ss
Us???😭😭😢
I am Herpes virus negative and Pulmonary fibrosis cured now, Dr Madida on UA-cam did helped me cure this virus and breathe problem with his herbal medicine
100% agree
This is a great explanation. This is the first time I've seen this explained in a way that is clear and concise.
THIS WAS REALLY HELPFUL THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING IN A WAY I CAN UNDERSTAND
Khan does more to keep me informed than most of my current online lectures. Thanks so much, Anna & Khan Academy.
I'm so thankful for these videos!! Supplementing studying with these has really helped!!!!!
"you know what? I'm gonna wait until I'm ready to take over."

Thank you so much for this explanation! With all that is going on in the world today, I wanted to gain more understanding. Your break down was so excellent, I watched it twice! Kudos to you Khan academy for putting this up😉👏👏👏👏
Wow! Really helpful video. Cleared up confusion between the cycles.
Great video. I was learning about Bacterial Phages today and stumbled on it.
5 minutes! my god! It took me 1 hour studying these 2 cycles with so many confusions you made it easy peasy in just 5 minutes❣️❣️
Thanks so much khan academy! Never stop! I'm so grateful for these!
Why I pay much more 1500 dollar to my shiit university every year if Khan academy is exist
Ruhid Yusifov Judging by your grammar, you need all the university you can get.

HOPE I WILL GET GOOD GRADES ON MY TEST AND QUIZ
you are the best source for understanding stuff....thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
So awesome! Great video, thank you very much :)
Awesome explanation. Thank you!
Lytic "boom" vs lysogenic copacetic. How's that for a memory aid?
That's actually a great video. I have a test tomorrow and I'm totally going to nail whatever's related to viral infections. THANKS
wow utr comment is 8 years ago wondering what ur up to now?
THAT ACTUALLY HELPED THANKS
Thank you ! You really help me :)
thanks from my heart
Seriously, khan academy saves much of our tym, & also xplains much better😍
thank you for the video. simple explanation

Thank you.
You used terms that made this so much easier to understand. Thank you so much for putting this process in simple terms!
That you so much helped me understand better than a textbook and a professor.

Nice explanation
😊 🙏 thanks
Very helpfull

can you use terms that will be presented on the mcat instead of "hitch a ride"
Thank u so much!i have a test tomorrow and i had no idea how lysogenic cycle work...but now I completely understand it
Did you pass the test?
Tq mam
This explained more compared to hours of biology class.
👏🏻my biology teacher couldn’t teach me this
Great video! However, I think it should be clearly stated the that lysogenic cycle and the creation of prophages is something distinctive to bacteriophages (as far as I understand). I ran into this misunderstanding when I first came across this topic and thought that eukaryotic cell viruses could use the lysogenic cycle to create prophages. I would have continued assuming that after this video. If I'm still mis-conceptualizing this, someone please correct me!
Natalia D I can see why you’re conceptualizing that as the Kaplan books and some of our undergrad microbio/Viro books limit the cycles to bacteriophages only. However the Varicella virus (chickenpox) uses both lytic and lysogenic cycles to demonstrate itself as chickenpox and shingles respectively, and the Influenza virus uses the lytic cycle. Both attack human host cells, so the video is accurate in its drscription🙂.

Coool
i have an exam tomorrow
ready for my quiz
Okay so lytic is for the impatient virus and lysogenic is for the patient virus. What’s the term for the bacteriophage that injects?
Just noticed that KhanAcedamy logo is also Icosahedral 😉
Lysogenic cycle can happens inside human cell instead of bacteria as host ?
not all the points r clearly explain
Dullard
Is the protein coat called a capsid
Yeah!
Does a virus sit there waiting to replicate because it “knows” or it “can tell” that the cell/the host is too strong and will defeat the virus? Thx Chris
No it actually sits there until something triggers it to replicate it could be time illness or stress. I hope this answers your question
qwqqqqqqq khan academy teach stuff better than my teacher does no joke
0:50 how do they "trick the cells" I don't understand
The virus has a receptor that is recognised by the cell. For example, HIV-1 employs the CD4 receptor on T-cells through its gp120 receptor. Binding of gp120 to CD4 allows for fusion to occur and the cell facilitates its entry.
Lysogenic seems more detrimental to health, what are some well-known types? Isnt HIV something you can be infected with and over a few years it starts to infect you?
Long Coved
>lets talk about viral replication
With that voice we can talk about anything!
here in 2020
Thanks Ellen Page
came here with a doubt on lysogenic cycle and leaving with the same.. literally spent 3sec to understand the cycle ..poor jon
Get inside.... XD

Khan Academy highlights what is wrong with education. What a waste of time and money for students... Professors needs to up their teaching game... Thank you Khan Academy.
This virus is smarter than I am...
my girlfriend: woman teach math?
Who's doing this for school
I'm sick as a dog. Last night I had to sit up to sleep. I've got some kind of replicating virus. It's active on a 24 hour period
abngalea
Chode
I'm eating chicken
sal better
When she said army I thought BTS ARMY🖤
btw khan academy explains very well:')
Firstly, thank you for the video - very informative.
My only feedback is if you can please stop saying "Soooo..." .. Its just very distracting, and if you could possibly clear up the writing as its a bit messy.. I'm just being nit picky but some what expected more from such a large organization like KhanAcademy (that being said it is free education so I can't exactly complain!)

Indian students attendance ✋
Did I just learned both lytic and lysogenic cycle in a 5 minute vedio 🧍♂️
