    Since this series is meant to explain game mechanics, I think turn 2 of the hexaghost fight is something that should be explained. Playing enough will let you notice that it doesn't always attack for the same amount, but no sane person would figure out the exact way in which the damage is determined without being told. Also many new players automatically skip the bandits fight if they have basically no gold, so the value of the red mask would be another interesting talking point.
    Edit: also fun fact you can't gain 2 sets of unlocks from the same run, it will stop 1 point short of getting the 2nd one. Seems a bit silly considering if you're getting that much in a single run you clearly don't need a slow introduction, but it's still not hard to unlock everything so meh.

      @@forsaken696 if you mean you figured out just that it was HP based then I'll point out that I said "exact mechanic" referring to the formula X=(K/12)+1 rounded down. If you mean you figured out that exact formula, then good for you. The "no sane person would..." phrase is an idiom which has grown far less popular over the past couple decades, but is still not to be taken literally.

    For whatever it's worth, the automaton minion was guaranteed to take blade dance over the two defends. The starter cards count as a different rarity than commons and get taken at a lower priority. I believe the only thing lower than a starter card on the priority list is a curse. (Edit: you probably already know this, but in case other viewers don't, I thought I'd throw it out there)
    Also I second the comment on the game sfx/music. Not sure if that's intentionally not included, but just in case it wasn't, thought I'd mention it ❤

    • @Jorbs
      @Jorbs  2 роки тому +16

      oh true, i didn't think about the starter vs. common rarity distinction! i wonder how often that comes up; the only other place i can think of is in the spirits event, where giving a common will heal you for 5 while a starter has no bonus attached to it.

    I've got to ~A11 with each character, and I think what's killed me a few times recently is not thinking about making sure certain cards are in the right place when I shuffle. This is something you've been paying a lot of attention to (and pointing out!) in both the Ironclad run and this one, and it's super helpful for me to recognise that that's something to pay attention to.

    Silent is definitely one of those characters where you get to Act 2 and realize that your only damage is Bouncing Flask. Even on A20

    • @n0xure
      @n0xure 2 роки тому +3

      Silent is where the game really punches you in the face imo; it took me weeks to beat it in A0 and then I straight up won with Defect on the first try. Watcher also gave me a lot of trouble, but that's just a matter of figuring out what works well together. But I still haven't figured out how you're supposed to win Silent without an infinity deck - and infinity still loses against time eater...

    • @shadef3915
      @shadef3915 2 роки тому +9

      @@n0xure on A20 you face time eater every 2 out of 3 runs on average. even if the deck goes infinite it will usually have to deal with the time eater and the heart having anti-infinite countermeasures.
      related to the topic of this video, picking front loaded damage at first is very important. silent's starting deck is really bad against the early game elites and act 1 boss so whatever you can do to actually complete those fights is key. you can't keep taking the cards forever though and eventually have to scale but playing more can give you a feel for when you can stop taking the front loaded damage.
      silent is tricky in that it has a lot of things that feel great when they work, but some fights ask you to have a different answer.
      this applies in both the damage scaling and defense scaling. Some fights poison is great since you stack it up and just block, while others you need to end the fight far earlier than poison would be super relevant. Similarly footwork + block cards can be great but some fights a well timed malaise/piercing wail/intangible can have a bigger impact on your durability in a given fight.

      @@n0xure After having beat A0 on all 4 characters recently, I feel like beating it on both Silent and Ironclad comes down to simply going for poison and block archetypes respectively, they're easy to build and there's not much that A0 can do against them. Otherwise you're going to have a hard time as a new player. It only took me a couple of runs to beat A0 with Silent because that's how long it took me to go for a poision build, meanwhile Ironclad took me the longest to win of all 4 characters because I just kept avoiding block+body slam. Defect and Watcher took a medium amount of time, I find that they're the ones that simply require you to learn the basics of deck building in order to beat A0.

    A bad habit i picked up from Ironclad, before getting too familiar with Silent was just accepting chip damage. In your second fight you played an extra defend to just block for 1, which is easy to think as not a big deal and for ironclad its not, but its super important with silent. She has so much less sustain you often die from being worn down over multiple fights if your attitude is same as ironclad.

    What you said about deck size is a growing pain that Yugioh went through. You're allowed 40-60 cards in a Yugioh deck, and for decades 40-42 was considered the correct choice always. Anything more than ~45 was deemed nooby.... Until some innovative players started winning with 60 cards in a "mashup" style of deck with multiple engines.
    It comes down to the principle that as long as almost all combinations of 5 cards can get your deck running, it doesn't matter how big the deck is.

    May just be my humble opinion but you are too good a player to showcase ascension 0 at this point. Just do the same thing on higher ascension imo, either 10-15 or even 20 your choice. Impact of choices will be more important there, and what matters in mentoring imo the most in these type of videos, is showcasing how these choices actually impact the run heavily or not with direct results. At 0 there is too big a margin for errors too, and I also tend to forget how different the game is at that number.
