Coming when called is the most important thing ever! My golden got out and was staring down a deer and wanted to chase it. He was about to when I called him and he came right back. He got a bit of my hot dog for that because he was amazing.
I have a two-year-old lab who is super great, but this series has come at the right time- it's reminded me to brush up on the things she learnt when she was a puppy, and come when called is one of them. Because of the virus, we haven't been in public places as much, so recall in public is being retrained all over again. Also, I echo the suggestion of others- it would be super cool for you to do this with an older rescue dog.
Can you do a video going over dog body language? Trainers always talk about how important it is to understand dog body language but never go over everything you need to know about it. Either way, your videos are super helpful!!!
Come is the most important thing your dog should know. We live in the country and a deer was in our yard. My adult labs were in a stay next to me but my 6 month old red lab didn’t listen and began chasing the deer. I said “COME” and he came right back! He is getting much better at stay now too.
As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.
You are a legend! As a dog groomer I can't thank you enough for encouraging people to get their dog used to handling, particularly the feet, and grooming. So good! Best dog trainer hahaha
I really love Kona’s Series, it is really helpful, my puppy is getting better and better. Also, Kona really cute! (I can’t stop saying that she is just too cute.)
My dog was a rescue and he came to me as SUCH an obedient dog! He’d come when I called, he’s come to his name, he wouldn’t bark or be territorial. I followed Zak’s training and it was great! He did so well that I started slacking and now he’s DEgressed 😫😭 He’s learned bad habits from my roommates’ dogs (and from me, too, honestly). I’m so happy for this video so that I can re-focus with my dog and keep up the training for a YEAR rather than a short amount of time. Thanks Zak!!
Is he continuing this series? I love it so much! I asked my mom for a dog but she said no. I did even more research and now im prepared to ask her again. Zak’s videos really helped me! Thanks Zak!
When you made that sound @10:30 my Pomeranian puppy (who was laying on my lap) sat up and looked around! I’m going to use that in my training efforts, so thank you 😊
Can"t wait to start traning my new pup next week. I new some of these basics but have gotten very rusty at how to implument them. I have not had a dog for 4 years and have not trained one in over 11 years. So all of this will come in very handy starting next week. Thanks for the refresher course.
I remember watching the videos with Inertia from the beginning and it so wild to see her as the mature, responsible dog playing with the inexperienced pup!
Thank you so much for these videos Zak! Me and my husband will be bringing our Golden Retriever puppy home in less than a month and have been watching your videos non stop. They could not have come at a better time, thanks again!
I have a video suggestion... Will you please make a video about Inertia's daily routine... I wanted a routine reference for my future puppy that I could follow... It will be really awesome if you will be able to make and post a video about the same... Thank you!! I love your new puppy survival guide!! It really teaches me a lot of tips. Your videos help me a lot. Thank you once again 😊
@@shenurajiv6816 Even I have seen the whole series of Inertia... but I want her time to time routine.... u know, as a reference.... I think that it is not given in that series....
I really love all your series and it has been really helpful. I hope you put a video on introducing bigger dogs to puppy where the big dog is not trained or pleased to meet the smaller one
This is a great series. Training a puppy from the beginning, including failures is so helpful. One thing that I added to Zak' s method was hand signals so whenever I said come I would beckon him too. For stay I would add an open palm aimed at his face. It really comes in handy when you're distracted speaking to someone or you don't want to yell.
My fiancé has a very deep voice and after watching Zak’s videos, he goes helium now too - our puppy responds so much better to the high pitch. Hilarious but effective.
Zak has been amazing my pup knows how to leave it sit not bark and is potty trained but we are still working on play biting and I also took the. 30 day pup plan it’s amazing I really recommend watching zak
Thank you so much for your amazing videos. And thank you for the free training on Pupford. It’s so nice of you to share your talents with selfless intentions. Do you have an affiliate link for the harness Kona is wearing? I need to purchase a couple and would love for you to benefit from it. Thanks again!
I love and enjoy and certainly learn from every, single video. You were born to be a animal trainer. Thank you Zak and Bree and everyone of your furry friends involved! Blessings 🙏🏻♥️
Another great video! Need to brush up on the skill with my one and a half year old dog as it's been awhile. With Covid, we've been home and there haven't been too many distractions. I've noticed his social skills have regressed a bit too, as have mine LOL. Can't believe how much Kona grows with each episode.
Loving this series! I got a new pup last week and our homework for puppy school is coming when called, so this is great timing for me! Keep up the good work! :)
These videos are so helpful!! I’m getting my first puppy (coincidentally called Zack) in two days and I can’t wait for us to learn together with your help! Thank you ❤️
Have to say my favourite thing about all your videos, is seeing your failures. Because it's so easy to edit them out but a true teacher shows failure. Because that's how we learn, I also love that you show many different ways in this and other videos. Myself I have found that (my pup is very good fyi) sometimes if he really does wrong a simple growl (throat grumble) has an amazing effect. Have only had to strike (smack) him once, that involved him going to chew a power cable and having already been told not to. For the net haters it worked ( i cried a bit) but he has never been near them since. And while I would like to remove them, its not possible.
Second Kona and your channel is the best!! I also have a problem with separation anxiety and learning her name! Can you go over this in a video! Send lots of support!!
ive been using you techniques and they have worked so well thank you! now to get the play biting under control. Being my pup is a blue Heeler that maybe tough.
Some dogs pick it up a lot easier than others. Never had to teach my border collie recall or to walk off leash she just did it herself from the day I got her but I had to work really hard with my lab to get them both reliable
Hey Zak! Thanks for this super interesting and detailed training video!! Around 8:30 you told that Kona was sensitive to different textures. that's why she doesn't want to walk on the grass. You told to give it some time and try to make things easier for the dog. My dog (4 years old Terriër) doesn't really like water, swimming pools or little ditches, short said: a place with a lot of water. Last summer I tried to get him used to his mini dog pool, but after 1 minute in the water he jump out of it and ran back inside to lick it dry. Don't know if he just doesn't like to get wet, of if it's anxiety. How can I help or train my dog to get over this without making the problem bigger? It's not that I want him to swim or something, but just getting used to lots of water or the shower.
I’m so exited to get puppy in a few days :D and training him iv been watching you for a year now and your tips are SO helpful I really appreciate them I’m getting a long coat German Shepard (not my frost dog my first dog was a husky then I fostered a lab)
A game of chase literally saved my dogs life. Nova got startled and got out of her collar in a parking lot along a busy street. I got her to chase me right into the back seat of my car before she could get hurt
