Something about the older mini figures that the new Lego just doesn't capture. It doesn't have the same spirit. My kids love the new sets but will actually replace all the faces/heads with ones from my old sets from the late 80s and 90s. They love watching videos like this.
I'm thankful for this channel. It brings back so many memories. Are you going to cover later sets of Johnny Thunder, or Alpha Team at some point too? :)
All the main characters have a solid case for being #1! For me, it eventually had to come down to my own nostalgic connections. Black Bart is a first-class minifig in any case.
Love this! The 1996 Western theme was one of my favorites as a kid (though it was soon eclipsed by Adventurers) but I never got the bigger sets. Last year I saw a Gold City Junction set in a video of one of my local LEGO resale stores, and debated for a few weeks about getting it. Fortunately it was still there when I did go. It was pretty cool to finally see the banker and Flatnose minifigures in person after all those years. :)
great video subject! i recently purchased most of the western theme sets, including indians, and the minifigures are my favorite part about them! id have to say flatnose curry is my favorite, because its such a unique cowboy civilian outfit
I love the unlicensed themes sooo much! Great legos and more imaginative in my eyes. My main goal with legos is collecting all the Pirates (80's - current ones) and the western themes. Adventurers are another one i want. I do say licensed sets do tend to have more elaborate printing but at most i just use them as parts for others 😆
@@keltondavisLEGO Pirates are definitely going to be a pain as I lost the 2015 sets i had due to a house fire. I plan on restarting the collection with the new El Dorado fortress though!
Another great video, loved seeing such a nice presentation of the Western figs. At some point when I was younger I had built a small Western town at one point and the centerpiece was a color-swapped #1352 Explosion Studio, which felt very at home with the other western buildings (and the ability to blow up helped). (alsoooooooo LEGO Studios Retro Rewind when?) It's a bit of an interesting theme for me, where I don't like the figures enough to seek them out and buy them on their own now, but I'm very glad to have most of already in my collection. Such special minifigure designs for the time.
@@RRSlugger True! Canon has always been overpriced, but I find the color science to still be the best. You can easily replicate shots like the ones in this video with the Rebel series, though!
Tell me about it! I have a love/hate relationship with licensed LEGO. On the one hand, they’ve created sets based on some of my favorite movies, but on the other hand, it’s greatly reduced the percentage of original sets produced today.
Dewey is my fav. The green suit with the gold really pops, and the gold tooth hints at him being a bit of a scheister. I forgot how great Western was, I wanted Fort Legoredo so bad as a kid, never got it though. Maybe it's time to hit up Bricklink
great videos! I’m a huge lego retro fan!! you should do a ranking of the OG lego batman series I (2006-2008). they’re easily my favorite line of lego. cheers
@@keltondavisLEGO oh wow no way! Will have to watch asap. Recently purchased the mountain lab set, as someone that wasn’t alive at the time it released I find the old almost “dated” aesthetic very charming
Back then Lego managed to print white over darker color properly. modern day Lego prints are terrible and are not even close to the quality of the Western sets
There is something special about retro lego, before all the licenced stuff.
Licensed stuff has its place, but it’ll never be as magical as these amazing originals.

So happy that younger LEGO fans are discovering these themes for themselves!
Classic Lego western is making a comeback in 2024!! Great video 🎉
It's the theme that made me fall in love with LEGO! I don't know if I'll ever stop talking about it. LOL.
I'm thankful for this channel.
It brings back so many memories. Are you going to cover later sets of Johnny Thunder, or Alpha Team at some point too? :)
Yes! 3 more sub themes of Adventurers to come, and Alpha Team is on the list, too!
Great video! Black Bart has always been my favorite. Looking forward to more

Your gonna be big with this family friendly format
Thank you! I enjoy making content that multiple generations can enjoy. That's my goal.

Great find! I’m so glad it was still there so you can enjoy it.
The quality of these videos is crazy! This channel is going to get attention soon! Keep it up!
I've been so thrilled with everyone's responses. Growing steadily!
Black Bart was always my favourite I think it was the tucked gun and the tash that did it haha
I love hearing about everyone’s favorites! Black Bart is first class, no doubt.
Such high quality videos! Can't wait for more!
Thank you! 🙏
This is already one of my fav channels. Very well done, please do more videos
Thank you! New episode dropped this morning!
While we have the same number one
I absolutely love the cavalier soldier with white bandana
I just love how rough and rought it looks
Totally valid! It’s tough to rank Minifigs that are all so great!

Love that guy! Didn’t appreciate him as much as a kid, but he’s really a standout in the series!
I had most of these sets and man, I loved it so much.
My favorite theme of ALL TIME!

Collecting all of Pirates is a HUGE undertaking, but I would LOVE to do that someday. Vintage LEGO for the win!

Gotta love the classic Lego minifigures
Making videos like this only makes me love them more! They really put their hearts into them.
@@keltondavisLEGO definitely! I love how detailed new minifigures are but there's something so pure and charming about the old designs.
I often compare it to 2D vs 3D Disney animated movies. I love both, but prefer the classic 2D.
Great Video! Congratulations on growing your UA-cam Channel so quickly!
Thank you! It’s all thanks to you guys!

Thank you! LEGO studios is definitely on the list of future episodes. That series came around just as I was getting into filmmaking!
Loved the video footage you captured in this video! Do you mind me asking what type of camera you used for this? 😍
Sure! I use a Canon 5D Mark IV. Bit of an oldie at this point, but I haven’t found anything better for shooting LEGO.

These minifigs are so great, especially for the time
I think this theme is what catapulted minifig design to the next level.
@@keltondavisLEGO agreed!
Great video!
Thank you! They're so much fun to make.
The more I learn about this era from the mid ‘80s to early ‘01, the more I start to lament the heavy reliance on licensed themes Lego has developed.

Are you gonna do the rest of the adventures themes? The videos are incredible!
Yes indeed! I've got parts of Jungle and Dino Island done already!
When I heard the accent I thought “Oh wow, this is gonna be a commitment”. :D

@@keltondavisLEGO you’re missing out big time on the batman, look up batman series I and the sets and figures are just so awesome.
What happened to the 2023-song? It was so wholesome!
I unlisted it for now, since it was made for friends and family prior to me starting the channel in earnest. But it might come back…
I used to have this set
Some of the best sets ever made!
4:15 The banker looks like weird al
Well, I can’t unsee that now 😆
noooo Zack’s my favourite 😭
It was honestly like ranking my children 😂 But luckily my opinion doesn’t really matter!

I’ve got it on my channel already! Take a look!

I’m not sure if they existed as actual minions but I’m sure all the Calvary soldiers had pallet swapped variants In the Lego chess videos game
I remember those! But yes, they only existed in the game.
Not licensed? This was obviously licensed from the classic TV series F Troop!
And LEGO never paid up. Scandal!!
Where are Indian minifigures though?
A future episode of Retro LEGO will be covering that sub theme. They won’t be forgotten!

What about indians? Arent they part of this theme?
They were a later sub theme of Western that I’ll talk about in future videos 👍
