  • Combining notes from the major scale with ukulele chords is a beautiful way to approach the instrument. In this series, we'll define chord melody, show you examples, and teach you the procedure so you can create your own chord melodies. Get tuned up and join me for for episode one!
    **Video Correction: From 4:23-7:03, the numeral should be (ii) for the Dm chord rather than I.

    Maybe the melody is like something that would be played in the King's court!

    Anne Boleyn, Henry V111's queen, had a musician who played to her on his lute, and for whom she had great regard.
    This little tune reminds me of that scene in the series about Henry and his court. Wulfs Hall, on television here in the UK.

    Nice little tutorial Kevin, as a rank beginner its a nice introduction. As for the music piece itself it sounds like an interlude or background piece for a scene in Game of Thrones or something similar. Keep up the good work

    Love that tutorial. I've been playing with that little interlude since you posted it, and with a couple of 'pull offs' it now sounds like like something LED Zeppelin would have written for The Hobbit (if they'd been asked!). You sir, are fantastic.

    Love this series. As with all the others It's well done and easy to follow along. I have looked at my Circle of Fifths poster a zillion times and never really gotten it. Now it's all so clear. You do need to change your onscreen chart of the C major scale from I to ii not I for D minor however. That was confusing at first.

    Nice tutorial. I'm not sure what to call the music piece, but sounds a lot like something played on the lute (renaissance). It does make me think of a sunny winter's day.

    I played piano first. I'm so used to the consecutive notes as opposed to the scattered notes on the uke. I'm struggling to remember it on the uke lol 😂

    In the chart, the second I is in fact ii (Dm). A name for the song? Autumn Leaves.

    Great intro to chord melody. Thanks for that. One question though: if you have a melody given in key of C, how do you arrange for the appropriate chord in the intervals?

  • @alpobc1

    At 4:44, on the chart at the bottom of the screen, Dm should be ii, not I.

    I just bought a baritone ukulele and I am confused about playing with others on a concert or tenor ukulele. My baritone is tied correctly but I don’t know how to read the music. Do I use their same music or do I transpose it? Please help. Thanks so much. I love your style of teaching.

    • @browneyedtwin1111
      @browneyedtwin1111 5 місяців тому

      It’s a different key. A C chord is still a C chord on either a baritone or a tenor, but they are fretted differently. Or, you can put a capo on the 5th fret of the baritone, and finger it exactly like you do on a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele.
