This video shows the transformation of a Florida monarch butterfly from caterpillar to chrysalis.
The first segment is timelapse, then the transformation is shown in real time.

so freakin neat. surprised it only took 5 mins, I thought it took weeks. I found a pretty big caterpillar, I hope it turns into a butterfly!! right now it just eats and sleeps and poops
They do that! Monarchs take about a week from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly.
Sometimes faster or slower depending on the heat or cold.

I used to watch all the educational videos about insects... Been forgotten how much I loved it! I am really freaked out when the real insects are around me, but watching their lives is so truly amazing! Thank you for your video and reminding me of how much I loved these stuff.
I used to have those in my backyard before fucking Walmart came and bulldozed 700 acres and put in a 600 acre parking lot. All the butterflies went away. 😓

In my grandpa's farm there use to be hundreds of caterpillar nesting on a small bush. I collect probably 16 of them, fed them with mango leaves. After a few weeks, they suddenly metamorphed. I never got to see them evolve into a butterfly, it happened so fast.
Did they slap the caterpillar while it was working or blow smoke at it? Why are there dislikes? Do you dislike natural processes? You know what? I'm not gonna sweat you. Have fun disliking air or whatever it is you do in your free time.
It's so hard not to sweat the thumbs downers. Thumbs down for beauty? I don't get why they even take the time to dislike?

In second grade when we had monarch butterflies as class pets me and a few others were earlier than usual and one of the caterpillars was doing this and we were watching it

It is not easy to catch them doing their thing, I do have a full time job!
It is usually ten or so days later when they pop out.

puppylover13 The reason why you would see muck is because that is the digested body parts of the caterpillar. When in its chrysalis form, the caterpillar digests all of its body except for its vital organs. After some time, the muck takes shape of a butterfly and the chrysalis hatches, revealing a newly formed butterfly.
