Hi Dylan, I must admit it is nice to just wander around the yard a grab a few sticks of it when you need it. :) Cheers Steve

Morning Steve - Great to see you back! I found it interesting that you let the timber dry without cover - does that mean that it needs to climatise indoors?

Hi Vince, Good to be back too. If you've got air Con it not a bad Idea. But if it's build properly with the allowance for expansion and contractions in the joints as the weather changes there shouldn't be an issue. Biggest problem nowadays is the sell timers as dried but it ain't seasoned. so there is still stress in the fibers and than when you get cupping and twists and turns. Fast turn over for the ever important buck! Cheers Steve

Nice Steve. I just purchased my own stash of blackwood. From a retired joinery shop. Over 1000 lengths at 3m long 🤔

@@Woodworkingmasterclass yes it is. Never worked with Blackwood before. To good a price not to pass up. Most are 80mm x 30mm rough sawn. Paid 50 cents a metre

Hi Steve great video can I ask how thick do you cut and store your timber at and dose it matter about grain direction when glueng and stacking the boards to avoid terrout when putting it through the thicknesser.

Hi Ian, However I buy it, I've got it from 6" down to 10 mm thick . Yes and no to the second question. Yes it matters on straight blade thicknessers and jointers. Fortunately, mine are fitted with helical Heads, with so many small cutter it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference to the grain direction. (Lazy I know ) Though in most cases I try and plain with the grain. Cheers Steve

Thank you Steve that explains why the chopping board I made kept getting terrrout.

Hi Tayler, Had a pet one outside the workshop for a year or so. We had an agreement I wouldn't hit him with a stick if he didn't try and bite me. Worked well. Then he moved on. Cheers Steve

Many years ago I worked in a plant nursery in Melbourne outer suburb, we had red belly blacks & copper head snakes in the glasshouses, which never gave any trouble, the bonus was they kept the rats and mice numbers down.
