I have a Minimax T124 copy lathe, with all the copy parts removed, got it very very cheap ... a better tool rest and a variable speed motor would make it ideal. A Laguna Revo 18/36 lathe would go down nicely, but not at that ludicrous price!!
I still use an old Myford ML8, "modified" with a 1 hp motor & speed-controll. I also have a Jet JWL-1221VS. And I really would have liked one of those American Robust lathes, but alas - I am a poor South African. Love your work. Kind regards.
I have a lathe left to me by my dad. It is a small Craftsman wood lathe, completely not suited to what I want to work with once I retire. I would to get one of the larger Jet lathes by the time I retire; hoping to supplement retirement with a few bowls and other projects. Thank you for the videos!
Cool. Very warm look to the grain. I have a wood lathe and a metal lathe. I got them from my grandfather. They are quite old. They are both bench top units AND use a leather belt to spin. They have 3 speeds and all you do is slip the belt to a different sized spindle. My grandfather would use a screwdriver to flip the belt and do it while it was turning; not me. I haven't used them in years. Glad I have you to watch.
Beautiful piece of yew Jack, nicely done. My lathe at slowest rpm to rotate and let epoxy dry gets the motor pretty warm for the length of time it takes to dry! Suggestions? Thanks as always.
Maybe rig a small slow motor to the spindle of the lathe with a pulley.. mount motor on a piece of ply and clamp to the bedways with a pulley lashed over the business end of the spindle or around your chuck. Sure you could get a fairly cheap slow running motor online no problem
A truly beautiful and big piece of Yew ... I've not worked up the courage to try burning the wood yet, but every time I see it done it looks amazing ... It looked like an awful lot of hollowing, but worth it in the end! What a fantastic result and I especially liked the resin, it really made the grain come alive👍
Very nice piece. The design is very pleasing to the eye. A couple of times I thought that is the base was going to be the neck and top. Then you reversed it. Great job. The finish is fantastic as well. Am I correct to assume the insides is sanded and finished like the outside?
Hi Jack The wood was magnificent and the grain both in and outside this piece is awesome really beautiful. This pot is a magnificent masterpiece you truly are a masterwoodturner, I love all your pieces you turn and your videos. Thanks for sharing this video from Amanda xx
I don't know if we have much yew to speak of here in the states, but it looks really similar to black locust. I wonder if the two species are related. Beautiful piece as usual!
Wow, what a beautiful piece of wood. I am blown away. Nice touch with the torch, Jack Mack. I do not have a lathe, I just love watching you turn out beautifuk pieces of functional art.
I always turn the tenon away. Sanding that much wood is extremely ineffective and I hate dust in the workshop. You can see the process on many of my videos but it’s a bit tedious to Show every week. 👍🏻
I’m curious.. what lathe do you have, and what lathe do you want?
Let me know below
Thanks for watching. 👍🏻

Absolutely gorgeous turning Jack.
The grain on the outside was spectacular as well.
.
Thank Yew Jack 😎
That is a beautiful piece. I agree you picked a great design for that wood piece. Good morning and love you.
The random lip on that bowl is magic!
Aren't those little surprises wonderful? I like the scorching too.

Great work! That's what I like most: pure wood, presenting natural colours and grain, nothing else. Wish I could make something like that myself....
Only Yew can make my dreams come true
Not only the grain, but color. 😮 Beautiful piece
The word is “piece”.

You weren't kidding, mate. That grain is pretty!

@@JackMackWoodturning Just happened to find a never used outside barby with never used rotisserie motor, might work?
Beuteful... The grain is outstanding, I don't normally comment but I you did the wood justice.
Absolutely beautiful ❤❤❤
Wow! Yew are so nice, why i cant got this here ? 😂
Beautiful piece. Yew is probably my favourite wood. Never fails to be spectacular.

Beautiful Peace, but i didnt see inside the bowl ..
Love it ,beautiful grain🎉❤
Outstanding beauty, well crafted.
I like that it's the shape of a punchbowl. Even though it won't be used as such, it's a different shape to see turned.
It could be used as a punch bowl if you wish
It’s always amazing to me what’s lurking inside a wood blank, beautiful

Absolutely beautiful! What a lovely piece of wood. And the design was spot on 👍

Beautiful piece, gorgeous wood grain and the resin finish tops it off nicely.
Wow, what a beautiful piece of wood. I am blown away. Nice touch with the torch, Jack Mack. I do not have a lathe, I just love watching you turn out beautifuk pieces of functional art.
Magnificent piece! Was that “table top” epoxy?
Such a beautiful piece!🎉
That wood grain is stunning! It was like finding a hidden treasure! 😂
Beautiful grain! And great job on this project 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful wood grain for sure. And great camera angles and slow motion effects. Awesome video to watch.
Great shape!
Small question... Why do you use resin (I guess?) instead of varnish?
Gorgeous!
Stunning work as always :)
Stunning love it🎉❤
Beautiful piece.
Time to crank up my old trusty Harbor Freight lathe.
Time to renew your life insurance if you do.
I like your style choices.
Very, very nice ❤
How did you remove the tenon on the bottom? Sanding?
Great idea burning the top profile! Thanks for sharing!
I always turn the tenon away. Sanding that much wood is extremely ineffective and I hate dust in the workshop.

Amazing... 😍👍
Love the grain
Hidden beauty ❤
Jolie travail Jack bravo 👍👏

Yew got me at yew. 😃 Did you get a "war wound" on one of your knuckles?🤔
Wow ❤
Beautiful grain. What wood species is it?
It's in the description 👍
