- Hear me, fellow warriors and craftsmen! I present to thee a great feat of woodworking - the creation of a roubo workbench, a design sturdy and true, fit for the hands of any who seeketh to build. What maketh mine build unique is the fact that I wrought it without a workbench, a testament to the resourcefulness and adaptability of us craftsmen. I simplified the classic roubo design, yet fear not, for it remains just as stout and reliable as its forebear. I share with thee the secrets of mine craft, from choosing the right timber and fittings to the very process of construction. When the video ends, thou shalt possess the knowledge to create thy own roubo workbench, regardless of thy skill or surroundings. Join me now in this grand adventure, and together we shall create something great, worthy of the gods' praise!

While I actually live in Berlin, I find myself drawn to the natural beauty of Norway time and time again. It's a place that holds a special place in my heart.
By Odin's beard! I hath watched thy woodworking video with great interest and admiration. Thy creation of the roubo workbench without a workbench is a feat that deserves much praise and honor. Thou art a true craftsman, resourceful and adaptable, like a true Viking warrior.
I was especially pleased with the way the video was produced, with clear instructions and explanations on the choice of timber and fittings. The video captured the essence of the craft and allowed me to follow the process with ease. Thy narration was also superb, as if thou wert recounting a saga of old.
I shall take thy lessons to heart and seek to build my own roubo workbench. With thy guidance and wisdom, I am confident that I shall succeed, for I feel like I have been trained in the ways of woodworking by a true master.
Skol to thee, fellow craftsman! May the gods bless thy hands and thy tools, and may thy creations be ever mighty and true.
By Odin's beard! I'm honored by your admiration and praise. May the gods bless you on your woodworking journey. Skål!

Great work. And as a landscape photographer I like the area you have your workshop.
Thanks for your kind words! The stunning scenery you see in the videos is actually from one of my trips to Norway. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I promise to showcase more of my local surroundings in the upcoming videos :)
Interesting, congratulations on the good work, could you tell me the measurements of this bench?
Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you found the bench interesting. The measurements of this bench are as follows: 55cm wide, 120cm long, and 100cm high. In inches, that would be approximately 21.7 inches wide, 47.2 inches long, and 39.4 inches high. It's the max size that fits in my small workshop, but it's perfect for the small things I work on. I'm happy with how it turned out, and it's been great for the projects I'm doing. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Love it, great workbench!
thank you!

Great workbench! But, more than anything, is that just outside of your workshop? That looks like heaven to me!
Thank you for your comment! The breathtaking scenery you see in the video is actually from one of my trips to the stunning Northern Atlantic Road in Norway. It's a mesmerizing place that I had the privilege of capturing and sharing on my channel. That oak top looks so nice. Beautiful countryside. I want to guess Norway?
Thanks! I love the oak too! And you're spot on-it's Norway's stunning countryside in the background 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
@@MaxMargorskyi the fjords gave it away
No workbench and nowhere near enough space to swing a cat, or sheep for that matter. Beautiful build and scenery, well done.
No workbench, no space, no nothing, just sheer determination! Haha, thanks for enjoying the landscapes. Cheers! 🪓🌳
nice work
Hello Alb workshop, tu ne passes plus sur Hcfr ?
thank you!
The scenery is just beautiful where do you live?. That reminds me of Ireland.
Great video, thanks.
The scenery in the video is from Norway. It's a place of mesmerizing beauty, and I've traveled from Stavanger all the way to the northern Atlantic road, capturing the breathtaking fjords and landscapes along the way.
And you're absolutely right- Ireland is beautiful too, and I love it a lot. The lush green landscapes and charming scenery make it a true gem. I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Joli travail 👍👍
Skål! Super boulot ! ⚔️🛠️
Great little workshop in a fantastic place. You can glue sandpaper in the wooden vice to make the grip more secure.
That's a great tip, and I'll definitely give it a try. Thank you!
The sandpaper is a bit aggressive. Other options are cork, rubber or leather... 🙂
Sandpaper will scratch up surfaces and increase finishing time. That leg vise is strong enough on its own. Use leather or rubber if you want even more grip, but get in the habit of clearly any chips or sawdust that get trapped in the jaws. Particles will dent and ding your workpieces too.
So well done excellent build Inspirations to others! Can you tell us where you're from. Columbus Michigan
@@makenchips Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you found the build inspiring. As for my location, I am from Berlin, Germany. However, the captivating landscapes featured in my woodworking videos are from my trips to Norway. It's a place that holds a special place in my heart, and I couldn't resist capturing its breathtaking beauty. Cheers to Michigan from Berlin and the mesmerizing landscapes of Norway! 🌄
Nice bench may l ask about cost of the wood you have used and thanks again for the video
Thank you for your kind comment! I'm glad you liked the bench. As for the cost of the wood, here's the breakdown: For the legs and stretchers, I used 8-9 meters of 10x10cm pine wood, which cost around 8€ per meter. And for the benchtop made of oak, it amounted to a similar cost. So overall, the wood for the project was around 150€. Thank you again for watching the video, and I hope it was helpful to you. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Happy woodworking!
Great build. What did you use as a bushing for your parf drill guide please?
Thank you, I've used the Dog Hole Bushing for 3/4 inch Holes. You can find it here: www.fine-tools.com/spann1.html
Wow the sound of drills, saws and hammers.😅
Haha, the symphony of woodworking 🎶🪚🔨
What did you use for the top?
Hey Gaylan Bishop! Thanks for your question! Here's the information about the top of my workbench:
The top is made by gluing together two laminated oak boards. This creates a strong and durable surface that can handle all my woodworking projects.
Initially, I planned to use pine for the top because it's usually more affordable. However, luck was on my side! When I went to the local wood market, I stumbled upon these two oak boards in the discount section. They were leftovers from a big order, and I was fortunate enough to snag them at a great price.
While pine would have been a decent choice, I'm really glad I ended up with oak. Oak is heavier and sturdier, which adds even more stability to the workbench. It's a perfect fit for my woodworking needs.
I hope this answers your question! Let me know if you have any more. Happy woodworking!

Where do you live, dude
Hey :) Most of the video features stunning landscapes from a tiny island on Norway's Atlantic Ocean shores. For a deeper experience, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/gGF0VCSS7DE/v-deo.html. Cheers
not a roubo workbench
Thank you for your comment! You're right; it's not a traditional Roubo workbench. I simplified the design to make it easier to build without compromising sturdiness. Despite the differences, I'm delighted with the outcome, and it serves my woodworking needs perfectly. It's all about adapting and finding the best solution for our individual workshops. I appreciate your observation, and if you have any other thoughts or questions, feel free to share. Happy woodworking! 🛠️🔨😊
