I’ve had my instincts for nearly 2 years and they’ve held up great. No problems at all. Only complaint is the buckle is a little sharp when u have to put some force on it. Other than that, these boots are the most comfortable and most supportive of all the boots I’ve worn
Thanks for the feedback, Michael. Glad the instincts have held up good for you. They're definitely in my top 3 boots for sure. If you could take the fit and flex on the instinct and have the flexion support of the tech 10, you'd have the perfect boot. Basically if they had a baby together haha. - Chase
When I choose my boots, I tryed almost any model, and finally get Tech7. All of Fox Models fit great on my leg, but there was something small on my ankle that hurt me. It was really small just like a pinch, but it was just to feel uncomfortable. Other ways when I try Tech7 it fits perfectly and this boots were like made for my legs. The fox started using the fox forma travis Pastrana edition(in 2000) ,tracker , f3 (the glue was bad)until 2010 to the instinct and for me the fox instinct is a superior boot ( you have a system for your ankle very similar to your knee brace and really is gonna stop the compression or the hyper extension of your ankle ) the feeling of the bike is superior you can actually feel the bike and be precise with the control. In Alpinestar you only had is the ankle support of the inner boot and they are pretty easy to break , I did a couple times and I had replaced ( every 6 to 8 months) and the out side support on the back of the boot is just like I guide, if you compress really hard its gonna pop out, I did 2 times. Stiffness over flex any day for boots, I ride snowboards so I’m used to stiff boots. I had the alpine tech 7s and they were great. I tried on the fox ones and they’re more flexible than I like, but they feel broken in. Nothing that a few months or so of riding won’t do on the tech 10s. I’d personally go with the tech 10s.

Chase! This review is money, man. Thank you. I’ve been a long time A-Stars guy, tech 8s, and then tech 10s, the last few years. The Fox boots have caught my eye though. At a size 12, I never knew how much longer the tech 10 was compared to a size 12 Fox. I like the idea of a shorter boot, and the feel of the bike the Fox boot looks like it offers is attractive. I love the Tech 10 because of the support. Which is making it hard to move from, especially the torsional side to side movement. Have you heard of people running ankle braces in the Fox boot to add a little bit of that protection? Thanks, Greg
Hi Greg. I have not heard of anyone wearing an ankle brace. You could tape your ankle up if you wanted to. Honestly, the Instinct only really lacks in compression support compared the Tech 10. It holds the ankle in place so well that the torsional support is really good. I want a boot that has zero wiggle room when I have it strapped up and the Instinct, in my opinion, is better in that category. I haven't seen anything yet, but I did hear that Fox was coming out with a new Instinct next year sometime and it supposedly will have more support but those are just rumors. I'm thinking about trying the tech 10's next for fun and see how they hold up! I can't justify spending the $460 for a pair that will last about 1-2 seasons like the Fox's.
Iv'e had my Instincts for 4 years, both track and single track. They would have to have had about 120 hours on them and the only issue Ive had is one broken buckle after I threw em in me ute one day. You must of had a pair made on a Friday arvo.
@@bennyrocks1982 I'm trying on a pair back to back with the Tech 10's but as of now I'm leaning towards the Fox set. The rest of my kit is Fox so it may pursue me that way for the full kit. lol. The Tech 10's are damn stiff! Almost like a ski boot.
Fox instincts are garbage I bought a brand new pair and they fell apart in 3 months made in China crap. Never buy fox.
Can you run these for maybe 5 years?
How much do you ride? 5 years is a really long time. I'd go with an SG12 if you want the most long-term durability. - Chase
@@rmatvmc I had my first set of SG12s for about 10 years with moderate riding. The soles were pretty worn, but they were still usable.
@@ryanlester761 I very got a pair of 2001 year tech 8s that are holding up awesome
@@endurotruckererniedesjardins nice. I had Tech 8s before the Gaernes. I liked them and the booties were comfy, but they fell apart a bit. Also, the Alpinestars are a bit narrow for my ankle since I have a plate in there after breaking it in 2008.
I got a pair of hand me down Tech 6 boots in ~2010 and I’m still rocking them 10 years later.
Like your breakdo
Alpinestars allday
next boots i gone get = instincts
i love my tech 10s but they sure do squeak alot lol
Fox made in China or alpine stars made in Thailand?
I've got a pair of 2001 aplinestar tech 8 boots. They are still in super good shape, I bought a pair of fox comp 5 boots, 3 months old and already falling apart. Junk.
ALPINESTAR IS THE BEST.......
Fox buckles are INCREADIBLY uncomfortable to open
The old ones yes, but the new buckles are MUCH better. - Chase
@@rmatvmc of course I meant old model. Actually that was one of the main reason why I rejected them. Now I bought a pair of 2.0 to test them)
SG12/Fox Instinct then Sidi/Tech10, and now Leat came up with seems like it nice boots ( havnt rode cant say anything) Tech 10 overrated and overpriced
buuuut... i just bought the tech 7
Jure Željko good boots i have 3 pairs
Still a awsome boot.
I run tech 7 there so much more affordable and amazingly comfortable
I actually like the 7’s over the 10. Not a fan of the bootie. Love my 7’s!
Hands down winner, Allinestars
Joey Bishop Who?
+ indonesian subtitle

Tech 10 is made in Croatia, near Italy
Nice video
