Aloe, Euphorbia neriifolia and cactus are popular plants in our village. They can protect crops from animals as natural fences and they don’t need much care. On top of that, they can be used as ingredients and served on dining tables. You must have few chances to know these dishes and may feel a little weird, but it’s true we make such dishes in daily life. The elders in our village always said that they’re of some special medicinal use. I’m rather in doubt about that, but whatever, as long as they taste good.

We've lost sight of the fact that when we take care of the earth, we take care of ourselves too. Even from a selfish point of view, it's good to replace an aloe, so you can always come back for another aloe later. It's just sensible. And yet we've lost sight of that.

Just be careful of what kind of cactuses you eat, some of them can make you really sick or kill you

I remember when Dawang was a Baby polar bear and now he's an adult Polar bear. Yes i know people. he's a dog. He's fluffy like a polar bear though. thank you dianxi for bringing us food from your country and showing us your daily life!
