I think getting the g tube will definetly help and create a less stressful situtaion for Beckahms eating so he can continue making progress! You and your family are wonderful and are doing auch a great job:) My son struggled so much with putting his hand to his mouth and textures too! I know you get so much advice , but here are a few things that helped my son with his sensory and eating issues: Using a motorized toothbrush to brush his teeth. I would use a baby blanket and gently wrap his hands around his bottle /cup to get used to the motor planning with me guiding him hand to mouth with a bottle / cup. I would also stand behind him in the highchair and help him move his fingers in the baby food/yogurt/ice cream / pudding and gently bring it to his mouth. Playing with dried rice, at first he would gag and hated it but it really helped him. It took my son so long to eat a puff I know the struggle hang in there! I am wishing you the best I know this is so hard, but you know what is best for him because he is where he is today because of you!!!!!! Krystle :)
I am genuinely SO grateful for this comment! The way you approached giving me advice was so genuine and validating in my own experience! Thank you for considering that our kids are different and sharing what helped you and acknowledging that we are doing our best! I am seriously so grateful to have rockstar moms like you in our YT family! I will definitely let you know and film if we try any new methods that we haven't, that you've suggested and how they go!
Rachel, you are such a LOVING mom; when you see your children, you light up and get so excited. You are doing such a great job, and I love how sincere and frank you are with the struggles at times as well as the wonderful times. Keep up the great work!!!!!
As a grandma of 3 and listening to you I admire you and your husband so much. You are are doing an amazing job at motherhood. Your kids are so lucky to have you as their mom. Take care of yourself sweetheart. 🌹
Rachel you seem to know your son extraordinarily well. My youngest son is is now 26. He gives me the best advice What I am questioning myself his response is You do you Mom So I will pass the same advice on to you. You're an awesome mama to your baby's Rachel. You do you Love from Indiana
its okay to learn to do a task differently differently or slower someone else. Mom used to say you doing it the little bit you can is better than not at all. Especially when it's something you really wanted to do. And when you can't do it it's okay to ask for help.
So much to think about to help Beckham grow! He is showing so much growth physically and emotionally. Following his mom around the house! Wow. Blakely loves him! So good to see them interacting. What fun!

@@maryannewebster4278 awe sweety that must be tough to deal with. I can not imagine having to do this because I am really big on textures of food. I’d starve. From this comment u seem so positive about it. Which is amazing. I wish u all the best
Rachel- I really want to encourage you. Beckham is much more advanced in eating than my granddaughter was at his age. She is seven now and can eat anything she likes and drink without any choking. She is still averse to mixed textures- say a cookie with nuts in it, but she is doing great. She didn’t eat one thing by mouth until she was over 3 years old. She had spasticity in her cheeks and problems coordinating the movements of her tongue, so they had to do lots of stretching and exercises with her facial muscles before she could start eating. She also had an oral aversion that was so strong she would gag if you even touched her mouth. So, needless to say, the facial exercises were very hard to do! Like Beckham, she vomited very easily. People really didn’t understand why she couldn’t eat. Eating is so fundamental that it is hard to explain when a child can’t do it (as you know). We were super fortunate that CHOA had an eight week program where the child has feeding therapy all day, every day for eight weeks. That got her started, but it still took years more of outpatient therapy before she “graduated” a little after her 7th birthday. She got her g-tube out when she was 4 and a half. She was still eating puréed food when she went to kindergarten, so it was a long, slow climb, with setbacks along the way. Sometimes it was hard to believe that she would ever get there. The feeding problem was one of the very hardest to deal with. It is very hard to muster the patience you need to spend hour upon hour working on feeding, when it comes so naturally to healthy children. But you and Hunter are wonderful parents, just as my daughter and son in law are. So I know that Beckham will overcome this, even if it takes years (and let’s hope it doesn’t take that long.)
My dear friend's son had a trach for several months as a newborn with Down's syndrome and cardiac anomalies. He was " shamed" at age 6 for still drinking formula from a bottle at school. He was still not able to drink from a cup without choking.... These kids have REASONS WHY feeding is a REAL thing. It came close to him needing another " tummy tube" because he REALLY understood the shaming and would not eat. This teacher was NOT on my good list after that. As a SPECIAL ED teacher, one would think she would have talked with the mom before taking matters into her hands...he almost had to have a surgery...... BE KIND, folks.....EATING can be so difficult.
Beckham giving you a kiss was to cute loved it and I agree with you about him you know what's best for your children you know what he can eat and what he can't eat I just think y'all are awsome parents and that y'all have 2 amazing kids I love watching your videos it does my heart good

I totally get the feeding I have mentioned my grandson to you he was born at 25 weeks he lived in the NICU for 4 months. When it came time to start food with him he would eat then vomit it all up as time went by watching him how he ate it didnt look right so I ask the Dr, & PT could it be the form of the inside his mouth being on a ventilator for 4 months. His pallet ( roof of his mouth) was in a very V shape where the tube laid against the pallet he couldnt feel the top when he would eat and the baby food was very wet he couldnt move the food around ( if that makes sence) wasn't gaining any weigh so being the grandma I am I started cooking all his food. Steam veg mash them that made the food alittle thicker so he could feel the food in his mouth. Never ate baby food again started gaining. You know your son and his behavior he lets you know what he can tolerate it a slow process. Prayers to all Beckham is a fighter he will get this.
So glad Beckham is getting his G-tube! The most important thing is him getting nutrition so he can get stronger and eat orally at his own pace. 🥰 Love seeing him and Blackely grow!
You never look like a mess. You are beautiful. Thanks for giving me something to watch when my anxiety flares up to take my mind off it. You are awesome!
i shared this in the first vlog that you pointed out Hunter’s blow dryer addiction, but I just have to say it again…. I am so glad I’m not the only one 😂 I don’t bring it around the house with my anymore, but I do use it every time I use the bathroom or am getting ready for the day. Not only is it cozy but it literally helps me stay focused? So weird I know. I swear it’s because I was a colicky baby and my parents used to turn the vacuum on as white noise for me. I feel your addiction Hunter! You are not alone! 😄
I know what it means having problems with feeding your child so I understand your reasoning 100% and totally agree. you are doing a great job both parents and both kids are just the cutest
Have you tried food play/food therapy. Give them something with a soft consistency that’s slightly different then baby food not with the expectation of him eating it but just let him play with it if some of it ends up in his mouth and he can get used to that sensation after a while great if not then it’s probably helping the texture avoidance issue. They also make a vibrating spoons/toy thing that some speech/food therapist will use to help desensitize the mouth.
I thought I was the only one with a blowdryer addiction, I totally understand Hunter 😅 my husband will even bring it to me sometimes when I am cold 😊 I have been binge watching your videos for a week and I am suscribed now, your family is so simple and sweet. Love from France.
My son had the same problem in the Nicu. It was so scary one day I was feeding him in the Nicu and all the sudden he aspirated and turned blue, purple, thank gosh he was in the Nicu hospital when it happened. It’s hard when u have had such a premature child with brain bleeds and the affect that it causes….one day at a time I guess…this will be a big adjustment for him and me.
I love how you are more focused on Beckham's health than how he gets the nutrition he needs. Beckham will hopefully overcome his sensory aversions in time - most kids do. In the meantime, HOW he gets nutrients isn't nearly as important as getting them in the first place!
Thank you so much Trey! This is absolutely my priority and I'm so grateful that comes across! It's so important to remember that it doesn't matter how we get there, its that we DO get there!
Last year, I had such bad allergies with oak, that I had to go the er and now almost a year later, I still have difficulty digesting food, so my smoothies are great and easy to drink ❤️🎉
Much admiration for your parenting skills. As a mom of boy/girl it is so hard. It would probably be good to have a mom friend with littles come over one morning for breakfast. If I were close, I would! :) hugs hang in there, there are so many phases that moms go through as I am finding out when kids are young, and you have some challenges of course, but just know that no matter what it is hard, so you are making good decisions for your kids’ love and development. Much love and peace.
Unfortunately for Beckham it's the opposite! He does NOT like texture. It is very, very scary for him! I have confidence we will work up to these things in the future and that is exactly why we got a G-tube! So we can work hard on these aversions without compromising his nutrition.
Rachel.......first I have to say, you look great, I so love the lashes, and Beckham......omgoodness he is absolutely precious ❣️ the way he is laying on the floor looking at the camera is the sweetest ❤️ and little miss Blakely.....so adorable and so stinkin sweet to Beckham. Your such a sweet momma 💕
its kinda brilliant what your doing. Doing the Gtube so he gets his calories/nutrients, but now can actually really push all types of new foods and not have to worry.
Rachel watch The Millers . Their little boy was born with something wrong with his esophagus. He had to have surgery and they put a g-tube in . He just got it removed at 4 years old . He is doing great 👍🏻 He had lot of choking episodes and had to go to emergency 🚨. But he is thriving .
Great question Mary! His baby food has water in it and that is what has kept him hydrated. We immediately took him to a doctor after he started refusing bottles and any liquids and have monitored his hydration levels very closely. Fortunately he has stayed hydrated on the baby food alone but of course this wasn't a long term solution! Another BIG reason we opted for a g-tube again!
I think Blakely looks like a little Hunter and Beckham looks like his mama :) I make a really good homemade vegan caramel with equal parts coconut oil, maple syrup, and biscoff cookie butter. Amazing drizzled on apples!
What if you guys eat with him face to face every meal, like maybe seeing someone eat will help him get curious about eating. Since he had problems with his eyes focusing before the surgery maybe hes never really observed how people eat.
Hi Rachel! Thank you for caring about our little guy and being invested in his journey! Yes, right now there is still so much room for him to grow and learn! The mind is so powerful and strong in babies and young children! Regardless of what he does, I know he'll defy the odds in more ways than one and of course we will continue to update you all and show you his amazing progress!
I'm glad you vlog daily can I ask if beckham likes sweet stuff or more savory I'm glad he getting a gtube put some weight on him I, over his big eyes he adorable I have been watching old vlogs which I'm enjoying I'm disabled and are having problems with food I swallow think it's going down and start choking it's so frightening so I can only eat soft stuff x
Awe thank you for loving the daily vlogs! That makes me so happy! Yes, he won't have anything sweet, He loves savory! So happy to have you in our YT fan Susan!
Ok if I’m not being nice to you guys it’s because I was just trying to get to sleep right now but I can’t stop thinking about my mom and now that it’s my second Easter and Mother’s Day without her it’s really hard for me
Thanks for sharing. It explains some things I’ve always wondered about. Do the aversions tend to persist as CP kids age or will he always have difficulty eating?
Sounds just like my little great niece she’s two and there’s not much she can eat or drink and she will throw up just smelling sweet stuff most two year old love cookies and ice cream but not her can’t eat even the baby teething and the stuff she can it it’s not a lot of it at one time. She likes vegetables. Something was wrong with her ears so it was hurting her balance and talking but after surgery she finally started walking and trying to talk.
He doesn't, which is a huge factor as to why we are getting a g-tube! We work with doctors to make sure he stays hydrated and somehow has through his intake of baby food which has a lot of water in it! However, it wasn't a long term solution which is why we took more serious, permanent routes!
i think with my whole heart that Beckham will soon start to pick up some food from his little table with his hand my guts is telling me that i belife in my guts
Sweet Rachel, your children feed off of your confidence and anxiety. One thing I’ve observed when you are feeding is Brave Beckham does not seem to “chew” is that due to his lack of development inutero? Or is it a skill not yet mastered? Could that be why he gets sick at new textures? Just being nosey 👃 Brave Beckham and Beautiful Blakely’s CHEEKY cyber grandma who delights in the snipers we see. Thank you for sharing your life with those of us who live far from family.
@@Sabouma28 I’m aware of that, but a baby when it starts on purée it makes chewing motions as it consumes its food. It is usually a natural progression. My query was whether Beckham just has not go to that stage yet, or whether it is an anatomical deficit, meaning he will be taught mechanically how to chew when older, or whether it’s a cognitive issue meaning we will be building up to that naturally. Babies who aspirate, have a myriad of pathologies necessitating feeding tubes. That Beckham had a surgical feeding tube and not a nasal one would be indicative of anatomical deficits eg, oesophageal length, stomach valve function, etc. sometimes with very prem babies they don’t get proper food till ages four or five and some as late as nine to ten. The mechanism by which Beckham is able to feed is really important as although he needs a high protein diet, this can in some cases be further problematic in that an immature gullet cannot create the bolus for the gi tract. So there is no mechanism through which meat can be processed. Although wafer thin slices work well for a naturally progressing child, a child with developmental delays may be physically unable to process it. Any child unable to “chew” definitely cannot break down the food at a molecular level as the chewing is what generates the saliva that is then going to break down the food further. So my query is asking if this is the case, or cause of his intolerance, or if it is merely delayed cognition?
Hi Julie! He hasn't mastered chewing yet because he won't eat foods that are dissolvable which would be his first step in learning to chew, so it wouldn't be safe to put a choking hazard in his mouth before this skill is mastered. It would also traumatize him severely to do so. It is also a developmental delay that I know he'll conquer in the future.
Bey sweety have u ever tried to put something in front of him like cheerios just to see what he would do? He seems to just up and do things some days and I’m wondering if he might surprise u and just do it. Just curious. I’m not disabled but I do have some mental things and texture is big for me even. I’m so picky about food cause some textures make me gag. So I understand little Beckham so much. Also can I just rent hunter for awhile? I mean damn he literally is the best man / partner I’ve seen in a long time. I just want to borrow him to take care of me for a day. Lmao you’d make so much money if u did that. But ofc I know he’s all yours and u would never give him up for any amount of time. U lucked out with that man Rachel and to be honest I deserve him. You both are great humans and great parents and from what we see great to each other. I’m just jealous. Lol. Have a great night sweety.
Thank you for such a sweet compliment! Yes, Hunter is wonderful haha. I'm a lucky woman! I promise no one knows Beckham better than Hunter and I! We always allow him to have access to food. A good example is he only brings one toy to mouth. He has never brought anything else up to his mouth, let alone allowing us to feed him cheeriors or something extremely hard, a different texture, something that requires biting. There are a lot of steps we need to conquer before we get to that point but I have no doubt we will someday.
You know I’ve watched you for several months . I was just wondering . Have you thought about an incare facility that could help Becham with his standing and therapy . Maybe you could wait a little . I wonder why you don’t put in in the standing apparatus that Movesy. Wouldn’t it be better than laying on the floor . I think his disabilities are severe. Can he understand when you talk? I’m really confused about this . You are a really good mom . Maybe ask his therapists what they think . I mean to help you not criticize .
His disabilities are severe. He had a brain bleed at birth. He needs to crawl, explore textures with his hands and be mobile in a way that suits him, which is Tummy time. Why don't we put him in his stander? We do. For multiple hours each week. Incare facility? Im not sure exactly what you mean by that but im confused, on how you're confused if you've watched for several months. (:

Beckham scooting and exploring made me smile soon he won't be still
I love how you are more focused on Beckham's health than how he gets the nutrition he needs.
Your videos always find me when I seem to need them the most 💚 I'm proud of you all
Awe this makes me so happy! I am so glad to hear that!
Blakley with her ponytail. Beckham is looking so tall now. Hope you had a great lunch. Those cupcakes!
Thank you Danielle! (:
Rachel: our house is childproof
Blakely: just watch me mummy✨✨
😂
LOL FACTS
Thank you so much for your love, support and encouragement! It means the world to me!
Yes I bet he would love bananas and fruit--Oatmeal too would be good and yogurt--Lots of textures and tastes to explore!
What about drinking? How does he get enough fluids? He is really making big strides in his standing, head and neck strength, and grasping.
He really is making big strides! It is so exciting! He doesn't get enough fluids, which is a big reason we are getting a long term solution. (:
Always remember “MOTHER” knoyBEST❤️❤️❤️👍
its kinda brilliant what your doing. Doing the Gtube so he gets his calories/nutrients, but now can actually really push all types of new foods and not have to worry.
Thank you! That is exactly why we are doing it! (:
God Bless you and your family ❣️ love the way you share!
Thank you Audelia! Xo
Awe, so happy he is thriving!
You guys are awesome with you kids. I have one question. Does Beckham get any milk, or other fluids. If not how do you keep him from dehydating
To this day I have porridge for breakfast because it's a texture that is easy for me, and I can add soft fruit. Salad is the worst
Oh my, Blakely's hair! I feel ya girl, my hair does the same!
HAHA!
Very good explanation on feeding.
Love you so much Rachel. You have such a good heart. And you're so funny😂😂❤
I think Blakely looks like a little Hunter and Beckham looks like his mama :) I make a really good homemade vegan caramel with equal parts coconut oil, maple syrup, and biscoff cookie butter. Amazing drizzled on apples!
You have got me hooked on meringues lol. I don't have a Trader Joe's so I had to hunt them down in my town & they are so good!
I am so glad you love them haha! I'm an addict!
👀 _”Wave back to my daughter”_ 👀 hahaha this is so relatable 🤣
Haha i'm glad you get it!!
What if you guys eat with him face to face every meal, like maybe seeing someone eat will help him get curious about eating. Since he had problems with his eyes focusing before the surgery maybe hes never really observed how people eat.
He eats every single meal with his sister. (:
I will have to try the cheesecake place! You always know the good places! Thanks for sharing!
Update, it was not great! I personally think there are better options!!
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ darn it! It looked like a fun place. They had a great sushi place they team up with that looked amazing...if you like sushi!
You are a super momma. And super well educated I just say.. best wishes always
Wow, this is the sweetest compliment! Thank you!
Thank you so much again for Beckam's health update in his physical aspect. Can you update us on his cognitive development?? IF you want of course!!
I'm going to guess that it is too early to tell.
@@pkmagic yes indeed. You are probably right. 💛💛 Positive energy and vibes 💛💛
Love you guys so so much! When is Beckham’s surgery to put in his G-Tube? I want to make sure I send out some special prayers that day! 💜💙💜💙
HE GOT IT TODAY! EEEEEP! Vlogs on his surgery will be up in two weeks!! Right now, I am focusing 100% on his recovery!!!
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ OH MY GOODNESS, I had a feeling!! Sending SO SO much love to Beckham and I hope he makes a super fast recovery ❤️🩹
I admire you! GOD BLESS YOU!
I appreciate your attempt to do blankly’s hair every day even though you know she will take it out🤣
Haha thank you girl!
blakelys little face when she opened the vent
Haha my favorite!
Ok if I’m not being nice to you guys it’s because I was just trying to get to sleep right now but I can’t stop thinking about my mom and now that it’s my second Easter and Mother’s Day without her it’s really hard for me
Oh my goodness, Colleen we are so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine. ❤️🙏🏼 Sending you all of our love!
Thank you
And if you want to you can talk about it on UA-cam when I’m watching your videos
He is a lovely child.
Didn't Beckhham used to be able to take cottage cheese and yogurt mixed?
Yes, unfortunately he has an aversion to it now.
Those kids are amazing. As are their mum muy
Thanks for sharing. It explains some things I’ve always wondered about. Do the aversions tend to persist as CP kids age or will he always have difficulty eating?
I have CP and it really depends on the person. Everyone is different.
Thanks Anita!
Exactly what Anita said! (:
Thank you for telling me why as i was confused but i get it now/
Thanks for watching Anna!
Those cheese cakes look good!
Love y’all bunches ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐶
Thank you Candice! We love you!
How does he drink?
He doesn't, which is a huge factor as to why we are getting a g-tube! We work with doctors to make sure he stays hydrated and somehow has through his intake of baby food which has a lot of water in it! However, it wasn't a long term solution which is why we took more serious, permanent routes!
HELLO 👋 🤗 even tho i get busy i still watch soon as i can 😊 i can't wait for Beckum to eat a cheeto it's my favorite snack since a kid 🥣
So sweet 🙏🏼 So happy to have you here!
i have allso dreams some times and they are true
i think with my whole heart that Beckham will soon start to pick up some food from his little table with his hand my guts is telling me that i belife in my guts
I know he will someday ❤
At least you’ll know Beckam is getting the nutrients and food he needs with the g-tube. They are lovely kids xx
I've heard of someone else having a blow dryer addiction also.! I wouldn't be able to even sleep.. haha
I can't! He has to turn it off when we sleep lol
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ Lol.. That would definitely have to happen if I lived with someone who had that too.
Thank you for sharing your life with those of us who live far from family.
the baby food she feeds him does not need to be chewed...
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ thank you Rachel. I will keep him in my prayers, and stand in union with you.
Beckham used to eat cottage cheese. What happened with that?
He now has an aversion to it.
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ - poor kid! I have a definite texture issue with food! Makes for tough times!
I’m guessing the texture of the food .I won’t eat mushrooms because of texture.
Yes, he has food aversions due to texture.
There are a lot of steps we need to conquer before we get to that point but I have no doubt we will someday.
cam you please find a way to clone hunter lol we all need a man like hunter
Awe I would if I could! You are so right!
How old are beckam?
What are the vents for in the floors?
We have a basement!
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ still confused we don’t have either in England 😅😅😅
You're such a sweet Mumma
Thank you Jessica! That means so much!
What about a walker🤷♀️
❤️❤️❤️
hi
I had a bleed on my brain when I was born and now I have a shunt and I'm visually impaired in my left eye
I wonder if those contacts irritate your eyes...and/or maybe your make-up?
Eye makeup should be replaced every 3 months, as it can (& does) harbor bad bacteria.

My oldest daughter used to sleep with a blow-dryer! I thought it was fire hazard. She switched to a fan. But I thought it was funny that she wasn't the only one who did that.
Loving the kids ave their super cute progress!
I tell Hunter it's a hazard everyday lol
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ welp, 1. From what I've seen about Hunter no one will change his mind about that but him. And 2. Meh
