    Really helpful perspective mate. Looking to get one of these for studio work/rhythm work mainly in death metal so to see a 2 years perspective has really helped.

    This guitar was my 1st seven string and it was the most impressive in terms of cost. I loved it. Now rocking a sterling jp70 which I got for 240 love both

    We have very similar guitars.. I have upgraded my Jackson with Seymour Duncan Nazgûl in the bridge and I also installed a hipshot bridge and the same hipshot tuners!! I’m very happy with the upgrades!!! Would you consider upgrading the nut to a graph tech in the future? Great video and review

    Hi Bro, I am interested in this guitar, but the satin finish kinda become a deal breaker to me, since I only have gloss finish guitars. How do you care for the satin finish? Do you use a special cleaning method/product to clean the guitar? Thanks

    • @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys
      @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah there is a downside to satin finish. The only way you can care for it is a micro fiber cloth. Wipe it down as often as possible. Despite that you still may get some stains around the picking area like I did. You also get some products for matt finish but I dont know how it works so I dont use it. Like I've stated the stain doesn't bother me so I just stick to wiping it clean after playing. www.amazon.in/dp/B003TLIJEG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_mYOCFbC6YD799
      There used to also be a gloss version available. I am not sure if it's still there, check with your local guitar stores for possibility
      Final option, you can re-paint it at the hands of a good luthier.

    How wear-resistant is the satin black finish on this one? It clearly looks classy AF until the first glossy spots appear :|

    • @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys

      Below is the bridge I got and would suggest sticking with em. Im not sure abt the width but I think its a 10.8

    What tuning do you play in? I plan on playing this in Drop F# standard for all that Deftones stuff. I'm wondering because I got a custom set of 11-80 strings coming to keep it more stable and to take advantage of the scale length

    • @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys
      @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys  3 роки тому +1

      Drop A and Std A/B are kind of my preference. But since Im also a Bassist I have a heavy right hand, so I use 11-65's with my guitar. I think you may have to do a lottle drilling through the tuner to accomodate an 80.

    • @haydenlaupland4836
      @haydenlaupland4836 2 роки тому

      i dont think you would need a 80 guage for f# on 26.5 inch scale length , id try out a 72 adn 74! i personally use a 68 and that does fine for me

      @@diode86 yep. Drop G I have a 10-52 set on with a low 80, it can do drop f as well but only if the strings are brand new.

    • @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys
      @TheUnderemployedGuitarGuys  3 роки тому +1

      I too was considering the RG7421 before. Hardware is a bit better, but its a 25.5" scale. The Jackson's 26.5" fares better with downtuning, so if thats your thing maybe go with this.
      Also in my case I already knew i was gonna swap out electronics and tuners from the start, tuners on the Jackson suck so that'll be a mandatory upgrade.

    Im planning on buy this guitar or schecter but after watching this, basically, you "upgraded almost everything (bridge, tuners, pickups, etc) so that means this guitar is not good. I think i get a schecter.

      Jacksons stock tuners definitely suck. But do check if your guitar is setup properly. Im using a set of DR DDTs (11-65) and it seems to be great for Drop A.
