I went to High School with Rickie, he was a year older than me, but I knew him and his sister. This was a pretty good summary and it was cool seeing the old pictures at the MVGR. My first job was working at the driving range where he grew up as a ball picker and range crew. I will never forget one day when working there, we were both about 17. He was lined up on 1 corner of the range tee line and aiming at the opposite corner, a solid 315 yds or so to the fence with a small crowd gathered around him. He was bombing 1 after another after another over that far fence into the creek. It was quite a sight to see and I knew at the time I was watching something special, but had no idea how far he would go. Rick is one hell of a golfer and has proven himself worthy of playing with the top in the world on so many occasions, I'll never understand why people are so hard on professionals, they were just average Joe's at one point too. If you've ever played golf, you know it's the hardest game in the world so to be on top consistently is really a pipe dream. The moments when players are in the zone playing their best are what its all about. I'm looking forward to Rick having more of these in the future. Huge fan still dude, keep up the good work!

@@gsp4prez People don't hate him they criticize him because hes not as good as advertised and he never wanna major also I don't understand what makes him so marketable he has the personality of a rock
not as good as advertised? The fuck? And you do realize how hard it is to win a major? He's come close multiple times. Something you and the most of us could never say. He's in the top 150 in the world you realize that right. The 150 best players in the whole world. And he's only fuckin 30 years old. He has a wife and a kid now and probably didn't want to dedicate every waking minute to golf which is really what's required to stay in the top 25-top 10 in the world. He's made millions I'd say he's a solid golfer. Competitive golf probably just isn't the priority right now. And again he's only 30 he could make it his priority next year get hot and go on a run. He definitely has the skill still to win a major.
8 top 5 major finishes.... Couple better drives couple more fairways and greens hit couple more made putts and he could've been a winner of a major easily.
I’ll always rembr Folwer enthusiastically cheering his friends & competitors after narrowly losing in Majors. He seemed genuinely happy for others when it would’ve been much easier to sulk.
He's has been my favourite golfer on Tour for years now. Just like when Mike Weir was on tour I immediately look for Rickies name on the scoreboard. He is juggling a lot and has a wife whom he adores so it's not just golf 100% of his time. He has so many commitments. The stats don't lie. The difference between top 10 and top 60 or 70 is fractions. Hope he focuses on his marriage and future family...
I'm a Weir fan as well. He's had to grind through some health issues for years but seems to be playing very well the last few months. Class dude. A grinder. I wish nothing but the best for him.
Alot of people do realize how difficult it is to compete in any form of golf... let alone a PGA tournament. That's why we're here in UA-cam' comments section.
Still love to watch Rickie play, winning or losing. Something about the 10 year wall that so many of his peer have hit as well. Is the game just not fun any more? Have we made enough money? Respect to Rickie and the whole flat bill crew from his time, over half of them are fading fast. All of them have forgot more about the game of golf then I will ever learn.
The dudes living his best life. he made golf a career, and has made 30 plus million while doing so. how many people can say that!?!?! I personally could care less where hes ranked. Hes a phenomenal golfer and really fun to watch !
This is probably coming from a Walmart greeter at best, mother's basement dwelling, World Jerk Off Champ who will only dream of having a life like Ricky's.
Great video. I'm a big fan of Rickie Fowler, not just of his golf game, but how he carries himself, his interaction with the fans, he's the whole package. One of the first names I look for after a round.
Agreed!! Rickie is a stand-up guy, and should be admired for each and every thing he has decided to do. His accomplishments in golf are phenomenal, and he's plenty young enough to put things in high gear when the time is right. Any criticism of his decisions is SO UNBECOMING of someone like Faldo. Fowler will lap the field as soon as he is good and damn well ready!!
Winning has been fun through his golf years but loving people and loving life and family is his special feature. Taught early by his loving family he has gathdred friends, a great wife and a beautiful daughter to share life with. Golf is fun with him playing- shown through the years he got many wins and a PLAYERS win which is incredible and as important as a major. Through thr years he has been an incredible role model for children and with his great true smile for Sponsors too. Now he has built a wonderful life with not only sponsorships but other businesses. Play Rickie-- win if you can but we just love your life and whatever you do-- we are proud!
Rickie is a personal friend. I can tell you with perfect accuracy and conviction, he is unique in so many great ways, that what he brought to golf was far beyond his time on the course. I never cared for golf until i met Rickie. His wins are just icing on a very large cake.
Not if you are talking about golf success. Yes you can make a shit ton of money coming in 10th place on the PGA tour. You will be a financial success no doubt, but unless something dramatic happens in Rickie's golfing career, his golfing success is quite limited, barely worth a mention in the history of the sport.
I think the reason Rickie attracts criticism is that he gets invites for pretty much every tournament, regardless of his performances in recent years. Like that tournament that Rory won recently. It only had 78 entries, was invitational only and had 13 South Koreans. So that's really just 65 places. So why does Rickie, outside the top 100 in the OWGR (and should really be lower but the OWGR is weighted too heavily in favour of the PGA Tour and doesn't give LIV anything at all. Not to mention that if you keep getting invites it will be quite hard to fall much lower than he already has) get an invitation? What has he done recently? Yes, he might bring his trophy wife for poor dumb Jay Monahan to ogle and cure his erectile dysfunction, but what else? It certainly won't be his golf game. BTW: people put FAR too much weight on TPC Sawgrass. Some of the most boring people in existence have won that tournament. Davis Love III won it twice, as did Hal Sutton and Fred Couples, but you couldn't pay me enough to have a drink with them or be in their company for more than a few seconds. No matter what the PGA Tour think, it's not the "5th" major; that would be a WGC. Something more global (or at least the WGCs WERE global until the PGA Tour ruined those too). Look at the early fields for Sawgrass, full of players from one country and a bunch of no-names at or near the top of the leaderboard. And it's still nowhere near as international as it should be. That's why only the US Open and British Opens are true majors, in that you have chances to qualify from all over the world. The Masters and PGA can invite who the hell they want, like Rickie Fowler or even Smylie Kaufman! LOL Will Rickie still get invited to these new "elevated" events (hmm wonder where Jay got that idea from?) for the top 60 players? If he does, then the criticism of LIV will be even more laughably hypocritical than it already is.
Yeah, I'd take love over Golf and that's probably what's happened to Fowler. Great news is we have so many more young players that can take up that slack.
Great video! I love Ricky. You can't blame him.. he's not a big guy, so he didn't have the strength advantage of someone like Tiger, DJ, or even Rory. I love how universal and holistic he is. The aim to have a more functional swing that will extend his career is wise, I think.
Less about strength than his height… he is 5’7”. Its tough to keep up with those 6’ plus guys swinging as long as they do… i know there are a few short dudes hit it long… but it takes much more effort and impeccable technique…. Physics is a beach….
They need to Let the man live... hes making more on his marketability and sponsorships than he could golfing anyway and he insipres and introduces alot of kids to golf so he's definatly very important and influential
I think a lot of these rich pro golfers have made millions of dollars and just don’t have the fire in them to win golf tournaments which is understandable unlike Tiger who never lost his fire to win tournaments and become a living legend….
I feel so bad for this 32 yr old multimillionaire who plays a game for a living and has a smoking hot wife . His life has got to be miserable not winning a major .
He donated two sets of clubs to some minor league baseball players who’s car got broken into and had both of there sets stolen. Pretty nice guy I would say.
Always root for Rickie when he’s playing. Don’t forget some of the other big names in golf that took a long time to win their first major. They were always on the leaderboards and won tournaments. How do you measure success?
Just want to commend MR Fowler for what he's had to overcome just being a part of the PGA. Those that play at this professional level are primarily blessed with exceptional physical attributes, and the gut driven perseverance to withstand the lifestyle. He accomplished his goal just chosing golf over motocross, and developed his presence with exceptional play and results. It doesn't matter if he ever returns, becomes a champion, or top merchant, he is now husband and father, and that is far more important than any station in life and he knows exactly what he's doing. Bravo Ricky, Brava Allison.
I never met Ricky but I'm from Southern California not too far from where he grew up where alot of great Moto crossers to trick riders also grew up Temecula and Murrieta Ca. Believe me he is well known since a kid, as I hear of him he's no quitter he will figure it out and get back on the right track...you go RICKI.
Ricky is probably glad you made this video. I mean, look how Jordan's year has gone since you did the "What happened to Jordan Spieth?" video 8 months ago (currently 3rd in earnings and 2nd in FexEx Cup). 😏
Dude is only 33 - has 5 tour wins including a Players - smoking hot wife that seems to adore him - millions in the bank - great sense of humor and poise - yeah man, what happened to him? 😂
5 minutes of this is enough you realize how hard it is to accomplish what he did before even his first win? Anybody here, in a ny minute would take a pga career like rickys even if he never won he can make a hell of a living with a handful of top 10s every year
We don't compare touring professional golfers with ourselves though, do we? They aren't our peers or competitors. We compare them with other (touring) pro golfers. And people defending Rickie are missing the point. The reason there can be resentment is he has a load of sponsorship deals that don't reflect his achievements (or lack there of) on the golf course. 5 PGA Tour wins isn't' bad, but DJ has 24 and Rory 23. Those two were, are and will always be more talented and better than Rickie, despite one of them having to relocate to another continent and the other constantly being screwed over by the PGA Tour to the point where he's had enough and joins LIV. Like when they fucked DJ over at the PGA in 2010 by calling a tiny bit of sand a "bunker" lol. That was never a fucking bunker by definition. Rickie has had it far easier than both yet has achieved far less.
could u please do a video like this in Henrik Stenson, it would be interesting to see how he won swedens first and only major and then almost took a freefall in the rankings. My guess would be age but u never know. I personally as a swede that got in to golf after he already started the freefall would be really interested in learning more about The Iceman.
If the wife has issues with his GOLF schedule and is creating tension in the relationship that's on her!! She new what his JOB entailed when she married him! I really hope that's not the issue! But then again there were plenty of warning signs before he married her she is a modern day woman. So strong and independent there's know way in hell she want's him getting all the attention! This is becoming a more common problem with professional athletes and their significant other!
I'm sure he would *like* to win a major, but given his natural ability he probably doesn't have to work that hard to do well, he enjoys the adoration of fans, the big dollars of corporate sponsorship and a mint trophy wife who has completed him as a person. Good on him, he's living the dream!
I have always wondered why players as good as Ricky is , why they even need a "swing coach"... Made all this cash , won 10 times including The Players Champ and then switching... Just go play golf and if you win , you win , if you lose you go home to 30 mill and a smoking hot wife... Life is good Rick. Keep it up.
This video gives the impression that he finished „only runnerup“. Always remember an average runner up finish pays 500k to 1 million on the pga :D I think even if he never swings a club, he will be fine..
@cohen177 no one would argue that rickie is financially secure for life. this is about performance (measured in win’s). rickie was a star jr and amateur player. the golf world saw him coming well before he turned pro. he had as much talent/promise/hype as his elite peers in jordan speith and justin thomas. rickie was supposed to be a 30 career win pro with multiple major championships. for many reasons already mentioned by others, things just didn’t turn out that way. but … such is life. he’s still an exciting player to watch and he’s good for the game.
Good perspective. We often lose sight just how much work goes into golf at that level. Just look at that putting stat, he lost a half a stroke and dropped 50 places in that ranking. I can't even grasp the commitment these guys have.
Rickie is living his best life. He doesn’t want his career to be the most important aspect of his life. He has a great life outside of golf and I think it’s more of a career than a passion to him at this point in life. There are a lot more meaningful things in life than golf and work. I guarantee you Rickie is happier than all of the tour players that spend 7 days a week on the course and travel every week on tour. He made his money. Has an accomplished career on the biggest stage and will forever be a fan favorite. Chasing around trophy’s your whole life is no way to live. Look at Tiger Woods. He hasn’t smiled or laughed or had fun on the course since 2010. Letting work consume your entire life would be a miserable way to live. Even if your job is to golf. Hitting golf balls 7 days a week does get old. I did it for 15 years just to end up much happier in the pro shop and playing with some friends a few days a week.
Give him a break. There are so many great players out there who haven't won a major. He won the Players, so he's already proven he can win the big events.
Awesome video. If I could just recommend one thing - maybe change the backdrop music once or twice over the runtime. I enjoyed the chill track but it got a little repetitive about 6 minutes in. Again though, great work.

Exactly. I haven’t heard anyone turn down tournament winnings because they’re in it for ‘the love of the game’
Exactly. Never understood the hate. I work my job which I love for the money to pay for my life. My job is not my life.
Rickie will be back. A great story. Thanks for sharing your hard work on this.
I’ll always rembr Folwer enthusiastically cheering his friends & competitors after narrowly losing in Majors. He seemed genuinely happy for others when it would’ve been much easier to sulk.
Great video. Always enjoyed watching Ricky. Good luck to him.
He’s still there every week. I think people don’t realize how hard it is to compete on the PGA
I do. I won three majors
Alot of people do realize how difficult it is to compete in any form of golf... let alone a PGA tournament. That's why we're here in UA-cam' comments section.
@@tanginicholls207 Amazing insight.
Hardest pro "league" there is
Still love to watch Rickie play, winning or losing.
Exactly lol who cares hes loaded

Great video. I'm a big fan of Rickie Fowler, not just of his golf game, but how he carries himself, his interaction with the fans, he's the whole package. One of the first names I look for after a round.
Lol. I love how everyone always knows what someone else needs to be doing with their life, yet no clue what one should be doing with their own.
What exactly made you come to this conclusion
One of my favorite players. Sometimes you have to dim the lights to see the spark.
Leave the guy alone! He has done and is doing just fine!
Rickie is a personal friend. I can tell you with perfect accuracy and conviction, he is unique in so many great ways, that what he brought to golf was far beyond his time on the course. I never cared for golf until i met Rickie. His wins are just icing on a very large cake.
Man I’d love to have a signed anything from him. My golf attire is inspired by him
@@AlexA-cb1bj I love his golf attire. It makes him even more fun to watch.
Seems to me this man is living an amazing, accomplished life. Winning is too many times confused with success.
Likewise popularity is too many times confused with greatness.
Not if you are talking about golf success. Yes you can make a shit ton of money coming in 10th place on the PGA tour. You will be a financial success no doubt, but unless something dramatic happens in Rickie's golfing career, his golfing success is quite limited, barely worth a mention in the history of the sport.
Winning confused with success ????
You must have received a participant trophy
@@helbitkelbit1790 the only participant trophy I ever got was from your mom. Sadly, I didn’t make the top 25
Good quality documentary, I really enjoy watching these
Funny how he is tied for the lead in the 3M Open as I am typing this..

He was talking about the Majors.
Great video! I love Ricky. You can't blame him.. he's not a big guy, so he didn't have the strength advantage of someone like Tiger, DJ, or even Rory. I love how universal and holistic he is. The aim to have a more functional swing that will extend his career is wise, I think.
Strength advantage isn't a huge factor though, Morikawa and Wolff still hit it within 10-15 yards of the biggest hitters at relatively smaller sizes.
@@crimson5158 Wolff is not small by any means. His reputation is as a long hitter and his thighs are massive.

Always root for Rickie when he’s playing. Don’t forget some of the other big names in golf that took a long time to win their first major. They were always on the leaderboards and won tournaments. How do you measure success?
In golf it’s measured by major championships!
Very interesting documentary with good insights.
Love his swing, swagger and grit! Just keep grinding Rickie and you’ll make money and history! Piss on the Haters!
Ricky got me into golf, been playing ever since
I wish Ricky Fowler well. Especially I wish him a happy home life. That's way more important than his golf game.
When you have everything it’s hard to put in that work unless you have that crazy inner drive that few have.
love rickie the way he plays the way he treats people i wish more tour players were like him he's won more than enough times for me
What happened to Rickie Fowler? He had a bad year. Only 31. He'll be back
I never met Ricky but I'm from Southern California not too far from where he grew up where alot of great Moto crossers to trick riders also grew up Temecula and Murrieta Ca.
5 minutes of this is enough
you realize how hard it is to accomplish what he did before even his first win?
Anybody here, in a ny minute would take a pga career like rickys
even if he never won he can make a hell of a living with a handful of top 10s every year
We don't compare touring professional golfers with ourselves though, do we?
Have followed Rickie Fowler for 10 years, he is a fan favorite
He’s a 5 time PGA tour winner and has top 3 finishes in every major championship. Solid career
Great Video. Everybody loves Rickie I would love to see him make a comeback and win a major. Would be quite a sight to see.

This, this is worth my time.
could u please do a video like this in Henrik Stenson, it would be interesting to see how he won swedens first and only major and then almost took a freefall in the rankings.
What an amazing career nothing the diminish at all!
I always loved his style 😍
I'm sure he would *like* to win a major, but given his natural ability he probably doesn't have to work that hard to do well, he enjoys the adoration of fans, the big dollars of corporate sponsorship and a mint trophy wife who has completed him as a person. Good on him, he's living the dream!
love to watch him play... great guy
I have always wondered why players as good as Ricky is , why they even need a "swing coach"... Made all this cash , won 10 times including The Players Champ and then switching... Just go play golf and if you win , you win , if you lose you go home to 30 mill and a smoking hot wife... Life is good Rick. Keep it up.
Every top athlete has coaches in every single real sport. Why would golf be any different?
"Pewma"
Just playing. Awesome video. Hopfully we see him back in full force again.
This announcer kills me "HE HAS FEARLESS BLOOD ATTACKING EVERYTHING" Dude He's a golfer not a Bare-Knuckle fighter.
He appears contented. Priceless, really.
Good perspective. We often lose sight just how much work goes into golf at that level. Just look at that putting stat, he lost a half a stroke and dropped 50 places in that ranking. I can't even grasp the commitment these guys have.
Rickie has nothing more to prove to anyone. Let the man live his life and continue to inspire.
This popped up on my timeline today.
Currently Rickie is joint leader of the 3M Open.
Hopefully he brings home the W tomorrow👍
